Repairs Found my old guitar from the mid 80’s. Is it worth fixing up?
Electronics are in bad condition. Needs a new pickup and a Floyd Rose

The left guitar is a LTD XJ-1 and the right guitar is a Fender Jim Root V4 Jazzmaster. Both are great guitars.

I do residential HVAC for a living and enjoy chatting with my customers. in 2016-17 I fixed a guys heat and asked him what he did for a living. He beat around the bush a bit but he eventually let me know that he works in live sound and tours with bands. I don't want to give too much info out because if I tell you his job, you could find him with Google.
Anyway, we are talking about his time on the road and he claims that he has a beat up squier telecaster which was only meant to be used for a song/a prop and then smashed. He said it was just laying around gathering dust so he gave it to me.
I googled the guy and what he was telling me about his background was true. I knew it would be hard to prove this to other people so I just brought the guitar home, cleaned and strung it up. Quite stiff to play like most Tele's
Don't mind my personal markings on the headstock but you can see chunks of the body missing and a label on the headstock that says "big come down" and also silver markings on the 16 and 18th frets.
I know it's a junk Indonesian squier telecaster, but it's back story seems wild and I wanted to share.

From what I can gather, MIJ 80s Stratocaster with S1 tremolo.

Hi, recently bought Epiphone Explorer from shop where this particular guitar was a demonstration model. I saw only a few minor scratches that could be barely noticed, however, only now I spotted these cracks below the nut. Is it something serious and is it worth to go throught all returning process? Otherwise guitar sounds good with and without the amp.

Looking at a couple guitars online both advertised for the same price. Schecter Diamond Series Tempest Standard, or LTD EC-1000. Both with EMG pickups. Both advertised for $800 Cdn or $560 US. Anyt thoughts?

Just wondering at how much is too much. I have a Jackson JS32 DKA. I already replaced the FR with a Gotoh. Thought about upgrading the buckers to Seymour Duncans, but just don’t know that I want to upgrade a sub $400 guitar much more. Then again, a cheap guitar could be perfect for Frankensteining it all I want.

I’m trying to achieve this tuning on my 9 string: AEAEADGBE. Unfortunately, I’m struggling to find strings long and thick enough to be able to hold this tuning. My 9 string is a 30” scale, so they need to fit that scale length. I tried using Kalium’s string tension calculator and ordering a custom set from them, but it wouldn’t let me add the custom set to my shopping cart and I couldn’t buy it. Can any of y’all help me out?

I’ve been staring at this supposed American Professional II on Craigslist for long enough than I finally messaged the seller. It’s advertised as having a maple fretboard (obviously wrong). I just got the serial number and it comes back to a left handed 1997 American Standard in brown sunburst. When asked, the seller is giving me the whole “it was my brother’s, you’re welcome to come take a look”.
I’ve heard that 90’s Fenders had some discrepancies in the serial numbers. Any thoughts?

I’ve got a bit of a dilemma.
I was set on grabbing a Revstar Standard in green. Played it at my local shop, felt amazing, and they told me they’ve got the green one coming in next week. I was all in.
But then they told me they’re dropping Jackson and Charvel and everything from those brands is 40% off.
So I tried a green glow Jackson Pro DK2 Ash… and now I’m stuck. It’s a totally different vibe, but it felt great. Compound radius neck, solid pickups, just fun to play.
Now here’s the thing—I’m still a novice. Mostly playing for fun and jamming with my son. But I’m also a big believer in buy once, cry once.
I know these guitars don’t usually get cross-shopped, but they’re sitting at the same price point and both feel like crazy good deals for different reasons.
What would you do? Help!

Got this plush in a few days ago, I noticed it's tall enough with enough space between the ears to fit a guitar neck. Once I noticed it I just KNEW what had to be done.
As per the title. Shockingly enough I cannot find anything on google O.o
I'm interested in buying an explorer guitar, although I'm not sure because I already use a King V which is not mine, but once I get some money I'm very tempted to get one. I'm also eyeing the JS32T Kelly in great looking Satin Black & the Harley Benton EX-84.

I was considering picking up a Fender CC-60S mahogany. I like the guitar but wasn't a huge fan of the mahogany color on top. Considering sanding down the top finish, just enough to put on a black stain over the brown. I see that Minwax has a brush-on poly, and there's also a ColorTone aerosol guitar lacquer. Curious if anyone here has stained an acoustic guitar that's got a finish on top already, and if I'm just signing myself up for a mess, or if it's relatively straight-forward? I'd probably prefer a brush on option rather than spray, since it seems like I could use less masking tape. I'm really not sure to expect though. Thanks

Hi!! Which of these is better? Cort £50 or Ibanez £70? Does one have a reputation for being better? Thanks!

Trying to decide between a Fender American Ultra and a Suhr Mateus Asato signature that my friend raves about. I have played the Fender and it plays great. I have not had a chance to play a Suhr (friend lives in Europe). Thoughts??
