You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. It's better to guide a fly than let it swarm unchecked. Sure, a fly might be simple-minded, but even the simplest creature has potential. Not every fly needs to be swatted... sometimes they just need to learn that not every human wants to kill them.
If you're the type to kill every fly just because you find it "gross" or don't understand it, that reflects more on you than on the fly.
There's hope for Steiny... he just lacks good role models. Ethan is trying to reach him, even if his approach is softer than some would like. Many of you might consider him too lenient, but think of it this way: some people simply take longer to mature. I was one of those when I was Steiny's age, and it took mentors like Ethan to help me change my ways (and I'm still working on it).
Remember, supporting someone... right or wrong... helps both of you grow.
edit: if your kneejerk reaction is to disagree with this i recommend you take some time away and think about it before you respond. But, if you still disagree after thinking about it, i will be happy to explain to you why compassion is greater than hate.
I'm 38 but when i was in my early 30s (not that long ago) is when i started listening to H3 more regularly. It was Ethan's moral principles and the way he interacted with others who helped me see the error in some of my ways/beliefs. It opened me up to seeing things from a perspective that wasn't openly available to me before. And I'm a much different person than i was 7-9 years ago. Steiny can change too.
