Welcome to April! We have Marched right into a new month! =D Little rain, little sunshine, and a whole lotta help! Let's see what last week had for us!
NEWS AND ISSUES
Right in the middle of last week's Recap, Reddit went down for a bit. u/RedditStatusBot made posts in r/help, r/bugs, and in r/modsupport. Here's to hoping that was the end of these sorts of issues for a while!
There has been a long-standing issue with not being able to see your complete list of followers on the iOS app and the desktop site. The cause was discovered on Friday and the patch is going out this week if it hasn't already!
Thank you to everyone who has been helping out with examples of the issue where new content doesn't get approved. Specifically, u/analogMensch, u/Unique-Public-8594, u/wzpzw, u/emily_in_boots and many more! Y'all were relentlessly passionate about helping get this worked out. I am relieved to report that this is getting better in the public subs! Team work makes the dream work! They're still working on what's going on with the private subs, but they'll get there.
Some of you may have noticed a green and black square in the upper right hand corner next to your profile avatar. If you tapped it or clicked it, you'd be redirected to r/field, which is this year's April Fools' Day event! Each year, Reddit puts on a fun little event on April 1. u/ChimpyChompies helpfully made this comment with a link to a Wikipedia article about the history of April Fools' Day on Reddit. Yeah, I know it's not r/place this year. But r/Field was pretty fun! I hope you got a chance to play! Thanks to everyone who helped out with the event!
As previously mentioned, swipe to collapse comments no longer being available is not a bug. This had been a gradual change that was mentioned here and the setting flip-flopping is the result of users being re-bucketed.
An update on hiding ads! A few weeks ago, it was announced that users would soon be able to hide an ad that they no longer wanted to see. This was being rolled out gradually and at this point, it should be available to everyone using the iOS app and the new desktop UI. It should also be available to about half of users on Android at this time as well! If you don't yet have the ability to hide an ad, it's coming! Feel free to report ads that are inappropriate by clicking or tapping the three dots in the corner of the ad.

BUGS ROUND UP
Mods unable to see comments in communities that they moderate. Also cannot see mod actions on comments on www.reddit.com. A fix is in the works and CorrectScale has updated the status page to reflect this issue.
Manually approved posts have not been visible under "new" for a bit. This fix is not complete, but we're deployed several smaller fixes to mitigate these issues. That said, it is not 100% resolved and we're still working on resolving things.
Ongoing issue around the home feed not responding to taps. The post linked was actually a side effect of an outage ~7 days ago, but the outage caused this issue to spike for more users as a byproduct. We have some teams working to resolve this one completely, and we're aware that the issue is still lingering for a small subset of users.
Custom feeds not loading properly on Android. A fix is currently in testing so we should have some updates on this soon.
WEEKLY STATISTICS
Last week were there were 1,339 posts which was 207 fewer than the 1,546 from the week before. There were 3,036 comments, which was down 456 comments from the 3,492 last week. Views were around 1.2 million, down from 1.3 million and seems in line with the fewer posts and comments. 1,900 people subscribed! Maybe everyone has been so busy over at r/Field that they didn't hang out here! Still an impressive amount of posts, comments, and most importantly, HELP!
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
If your account gets the "server error" banner or you can't update your profile, I can fix that sometimes! Just let me know and I'll take a look and get you all taken care of! Please note that I cannot give any information or assist with any account unless contacted directly from that account. I cannot fix accounts where you are receiving the "server error" message and are unable to view content from that account when logged out. In those instances, you will need to file an appeal.
If no one else can see your posts or comments across Reddit (not just in one sub) and you are unable to post here in r/help, you can file an appeal here.
Please check the Help Center to see if you can find the answer to your question there. Also, check this sub for stickied posts regarding outages and downtime.
If your account is marked as NSFW and it is not NSFW, you can check out this Help Center article for information on how to change it back. If you're unable to change it back, feel free to make a post and one of the best helpers on Reddit will help me help you!
TOP POSTS
Users were reporting that they couldn't open posts on iOS devices. Our resident bug hunter CorrectScale responded to the post here and alerted the necessary teams to the event. It was wrapped up rather quickly! But some users mentioned that this is a problem that they've been having for a while. It was explained, again by CorrectScale, that the persistent issues over time are affecting a much smaller set of users and that is being followed up with here.
Yeah, what IS the difference between Best and Top? They both sound best! They both sound top! As u/jgoja explained here, "Best takes into account comments as well: Top is pure net upvotes". This helpful article in the Help Center provides definitions for other sort options as well!
Someone posted that they suddenly had a bunch of chat notifications that they didn't want. I reached out to the chat team about this. It appears that the chat notification badge on old Reddit hadn't been working for a while. So if a user had a chat request, they wouldn't know about it until they went into chat. If they never went in, they'd never know! But that bug was fixed and that, in turn, caused the notifications to show up as originally intended. If you have chat requests that you don't want, you can click "Ignore" to get rid of those. If you have chats that you don't want to view any more, you can click the little gear icon in the chat and then click "Hide chat".
Please take care of your Reddit account. Please use a strong password that you do not use on other sites or for other accounts. And consider using two-factor authentication to secure your account as well! You can read more about 2fa and how to set it up in this Help Center article. And if you have already added 2fa, this might be a good time to make sure that you know where your backup codes are!

What link do they want? And how to I find the link and get it to the email?
Excuse my lack of knowledge, I could use the excuse that I’m old. But I’ll just admit that I’m dumb.
Thanks in advance to whomever helps!

Hello all. I recently looked up the method to make your profile NFSW on YouTube. I followed the steps on my laptop. And did it. Now I opened the Reddit app on my phone. And I'm unsure about the status of my profile. I wish to share NFSW content on here. Kindly help on how I know that my profile is NFSW?

Why does Reddit hate new users so much? Not only do some/most subs outright block you from posting if your don't have enough karma, but even if you do have the karma but your account isn't old enough, they will still block you. Or the sub will allow you but Reddit will shadow ban your posts. So you can't post without karma, but you can't get karma without posting and even if you can post, no one can see the posts to give karma. So if you are a new user you are basically sent to the back of the bus. I am upset because I had to close my account because of trolls stalking me. I came back thinking I would just isolate where I post, but it seems Reddit is now just like every other social media site; trash.

For the second time since January my 30 day counter has reset. I’ve posted every day since joining. I know it’s not the end of the world but it is annoying.

Once in a while, when I receive a chat invite there is a mix up with the user. The username (and associated picture displayed on top of the invite) is different than the username written at the bottom of the invite in the "username wants to chat. Accept their chat request..." part.
I only use reddit on my smartphone so I can't say if the bug is from the app or from Reddit itself. Given that this bug doesn't happen with all the users sending me a chat invite, I'd think the bug is from Reddit though.

No videos are playing in feed, or if i cli ck on them to see the full. Have i accidently optioned out of a setting?
r/help • u/OrmEmbarX • 2h ago
That's it. My feed is completely empty, no posts. I'm not a member of a ton of subs but I've never seen this behavior before.
It's been like this since last night (central US). Coming back to the app after a few hours I'll see a few new items, but after I read those and refresh, it's empty again. Have I reached the end of the Internet???

thanks in advance!
I already changed my password and it doesn't solve the problem.
Thanks by advance for your help.

ok so this might be difficult to explain but whenever i try to add images to my post they appear in the form of links when i am viewing the post on the reddit homepage (using reddit on a browser on a laptop). I have seen posts have images that show along with the title when on the homepage and the text content is shown when you click on the post, how do i do that ?

I had some sort of weird issue where I tried to login to Reddit with Google only to find some strange account linked to it. After I went through the trouble of removing my Google login from it, I logged out and tried to log back into my own account. When I tried to connect my Google account to the correct account, it was not doing so and appeared to get stuck in a loop, and I'm not sure what to do.
