Admin Post Weekly Recap | April 3, 2025
Welcome to April! We have Marched right into a new month! =D Little rain, little sunshine, and a whole lotta help! Let's see what last week had for us!
NEWS AND ISSUES
Right in the middle of last week's Recap, Reddit went down for a bit. u/RedditStatusBot made posts in r/help, r/bugs, and in r/modsupport. Here's to hoping that was the end of these sorts of issues for a while!
There has been a long-standing issue with not being able to see your complete list of followers on the iOS app and the desktop site. The cause was discovered on Friday and the patch is going out this week if it hasn't already!
Thank you to everyone who has been helping out with examples of the issue where new content doesn't get approved. Specifically, u/analogMensch, u/Unique-Public-8594, u/wzpzw, u/emily_in_boots and many more! Y'all were relentlessly passionate about helping get this worked out. I am relieved to report that this is getting better in the public subs! Team work makes the dream work! They're still working on what's going on with the private subs, but they'll get there.
Some of you may have noticed a green and black square in the upper right hand corner next to your profile avatar. If you tapped it or clicked it, you'd be redirected to r/field, which is this year's April Fools' Day event! Each year, Reddit puts on a fun little event on April 1. u/ChimpyChompies helpfully made this comment with a link to a Wikipedia article about the history of April Fools' Day on Reddit. Yeah, I know it's not r/place this year. But r/Field was pretty fun! I hope you got a chance to play! Thanks to everyone who helped out with the event!
As previously mentioned, swipe to collapse comments no longer being available is not a bug. This had been a gradual change that was mentioned here and the setting flip-flopping is the result of users being re-bucketed.
An update on hiding ads! A few weeks ago, it was announced that users would soon be able to hide an ad that they no longer wanted to see. This was being rolled out gradually and at this point, it should be available to everyone using the iOS app and the new desktop UI. It should also be available to about half of users on Android at this time as well! If you don't yet have the ability to hide an ad, it's coming! Feel free to report ads that are inappropriate by clicking or tapping the three dots in the corner of the ad.
FOLLOW UP ON PREVIOUS ISSUES
- In the last Changelog, there were changes announced to the mini inbox on desktop. Thank you to everyone who provided constructive feedback about this change. I have been sharing it with the team that's in charge of this feature. However, at this time, that change is not being reverted. I will continue to pass along additional constructive feedback, though!
BUGS ROUND UP
Mods unable to see comments in communities that they moderate. Also cannot see mod actions on comments on www.reddit.com. A fix is in the works and CorrectScale has updated the status page to reflect this issue.
Manually approved posts have not been visible under "new" for a bit. This fix is not complete, but we're deployed several smaller fixes to mitigate these issues. That said, it is not 100% resolved and we're still working on resolving things.
Ongoing issue around the home feed not responding to taps. The post linked was actually a side effect of an outage ~7 days ago, but the outage caused this issue to spike for more users as a byproduct. We have some teams working to resolve this one completely, and we're aware that the issue is still lingering for a small subset of users.
Custom feeds not loading properly on Android. A fix is currently in testing so we should have some updates on this soon.
WEEKLY STATISTICS
Last week were there were 1,339 posts which was 207 fewer than the 1,546 from the week before. There were 3,036 comments, which was down 456 comments from the 3,492 last week. Views were around 1.2 million, down from 1.3 million and seems in line with the fewer posts and comments. 1,900 people subscribed! Maybe everyone has been so busy over at r/Field that they didn't hang out here! Still an impressive amount of posts, comments, and most importantly, HELP!
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
If your account gets the "server error" banner or you can't update your profile, I can fix that sometimes! Just let me know and I'll take a look and get you all taken care of! Please note that I cannot give any information or assist with any account unless contacted directly from that account. I cannot fix accounts where you are receiving the "server error" message and are unable to view content from that account when logged out. In those instances, you will need to file an appeal.
If no one else can see your posts or comments across Reddit (not just in one sub) and you are unable to post here in r/help, you can file an appeal here.
Please check the Help Center to see if you can find the answer to your question there. Also, check this sub for stickied posts regarding outages and downtime.
If your account is marked as NSFW and it is not NSFW, you can check out this Help Center article for information on how to change it back. If you're unable to change it back, feel free to make a post and one of the best helpers on Reddit will help me help you!
TOP POSTS
Users were reporting that they couldn't open posts on iOS devices. Our resident bug hunter CorrectScale responded to the post here and alerted the necessary teams to the event. It was wrapped up rather quickly! But some users mentioned that this is a problem that they've been having for a while. It was explained, again by CorrectScale, that the persistent issues over time are affecting a much smaller set of users and that is being followed up with here.
Yeah, what IS the difference between Best and Top? They both sound best! They both sound top! As u/jgoja explained here, "Best takes into account comments as well: Top is pure net upvotes". This helpful article in the Help Center provides definitions for other sort options as well!
Someone posted that they suddenly had a bunch of chat notifications that they didn't want. I reached out to the chat team about this. It appears that the chat notification badge on old Reddit hadn't been working for a while. So if a user had a chat request, they wouldn't know about it until they went into chat. If they never went in, they'd never know! But that bug was fixed and that, in turn, caused the notifications to show up as originally intended. If you have chat requests that you don't want, you can click "Ignore" to get rid of those. If you have chats that you don't want to view any more, you can click the little gear icon in the chat and then click "Hide chat".
- A WORD ABOUT ACCOUNT SECURITY
Please take care of your Reddit account. Please use a strong password that you do not use on other sites or for other accounts. And consider using two-factor authentication to secure your account as well! You can read more about 2fa and how to set it up in this Help Center article. And if you have already added 2fa, this might be a good time to make sure that you know where your backup codes are!

I talk to one of the mods(that is not an admin) and had a question about people posting about "unfair subbreddit bans". The unnamed mod provided this link. And after I asked said mod about it they said you the admins wanted them to give that out. My question is why share that if mods can ban for any reason at any time. Wouldn't that form be a wait of the admins' time? They mentioned the MCOC form and how they want to avoid that?
opus I would like for you too look at my r/help community achievements. I have super contributor(gained yesterday) but 0 top % achievements on this sub. I gained one from a sub already but not the other 2 I know I should have gotten them from. I don't care that I don't have them I just want the bug fixed. Somehow I both have and don't have this bug. This seems like the best opportunity to fix whatever bug is happening. https://www.reddit.com/r/bugs/s/HnQArD4s6p
edit: oh my gosh it looks like they got it this time WOOOOOO
a fix for mod stuff is in the works

Hi! I think there may be a miscommunication somewhere.
Mods can ban users from their subreddit and Reddit will not intervene. If a user feels that a moderator is violating the Moderator Code of Conduct, they can submit a report. But I don't think I would have directed someone to that particular form, nor should that form (or any form) be used to appeal a subreddit ban. Moderator Code of Conduct reports can be made here.
Thanks for those links!

Weekly recap comment 4/3/25
Thank you for your report.
Introduction: A nice change that this is a less bumpy week then they have been. The big changes coming down the road have created some displeasure and confusion. Overall I appreciate the communication that has come so far. A little more communication on the old reddit changes would hve been nice. A little more honesty on the reason for notification bell changes would have also been nice. Users are not as gullible as some seem to think we are.
In old business. In regards to the home feed, it appears that they rolled something back. On Friday my home feed returned to ending with a large number of r/findareddit posts before being refreshed. Then repeat. Other subreddits stuff, then ending with double digit number of r/findareddit post. This is not a complaint but an observation as it did this before.
Pleasant Surprise: I noticed that the ability to add text to image posts was also added on mobile web for me. That was a nice surprise.
Issues/Observation: There seems to be a marked increase in the number of hacked accounts that I am seeing lately. Maybe something could be mentioned to safety? With how long Reddit takes to address hacked accounts , 2-3 months if at all, it is a great place for hackers, maybe even the Heart of the Hacker Internet.
PM Change.. Last week I asked about how the PM to Chat changes would affect “more established account” or new users. I got the answer. It will still affect their ability for normal 1:1 and group chat. They will still be able to use the modmail system however.
PM Changes: As expected, there continues to be a lot of negativity about these changes. I also understand that this is a fundimental change that is moving forward regardless like the browser UI changes. My question is, there any place or what is the best place, to provide constructive focused Feedback? Say something is genuinely not working. Or if there is a suggestion how a change may work better with a tweak.
The form provided with the browser change didn’t work because everything went into an abyss never to be seen or heard about again. We were also never updated on anything going on with it except from you in these comments. Reddit has been getting a little better at it, but regular updates on where things are, what is next and approximately when would provide a lot of user goodwill. If some part is just not working as expected, say that it is recognized and being worked on.
Notification Bell Changes, Desktop: Is there any where to leave feedback on this or to make a request if they could consider adding a setting to toggle to always “Open in a new tab” on for it?
Issues. I was responding to this post about Religious and Beauty ads being shown even though they have those categories turned off and I went to get the ad report form you gave us to use a while ago and it is now gone. Is there a new form or way?
Oddity: I am guessing that the answer is no, but can you provde any insight into the Super Contibutor Achievement? I ask because I just got it for r/newtoreddit. I have not been active there since October with the exeption of a few modmails, two of which were last month. I have also gotten it here twice, awarded in March and December so I am confused.
Question: I think you answered this before but I am not 100% sure on what you said. If you have top 1% poster and top 1% commenter on the same subreddit will only one possibly show or will the poster one show when posting and commenter show when commenting. If only one, which one does it default to? I thought it was poster.
Issues: The algorithm started working wonky on Tuesday. Especially for old Reddit where it was repeating posts every 3-4 pages on the feed. Post. I also noticed some repeated posts on the iOS app when I refreshed the feed and some of the posts were back.
Follow Up From Last Week: Did the team ever get back to you on the issue of not seeing followers on browser and limited to 25 on the iOS app?. I see in your report they did. Glad to see that one behind us. edit
What does the cake day update notification do?
Have you been able to find out and more on the issue on not being to share posts from the sub reddits I moderate on the iOS app?
With the new insights page, does it still show where a post was crossposted to? I had a user last week you could see it had been crossposted but was curious as to where and could not find it
Issue: There seems to be a number of issues again this month with the top poster and top commenter achievements. I have been sending them to bugs so Correctscale and the team over there can figure out if it is isolated cases or another larger issue like last month. There are problems with these every month. Maybe something that needs to be put front burner instead of putting out fires every month.
Issue. I have not seen a password problem, password reset not working case in some time. However, I have seen 2 in the last day. Both were brand new accounts. Here is one post. I don’t know it is coincidence or something is wrong to go from zero to two in a day.
Issue: Yesterday on the report form I was trying to report content. No matter what I did, it kept rejecting my link. I tried getting the link from the app, taking the app link and opening it first in the mobile browser, and getting it directly from the mobile browser and none worked.
Conclusion: Not much to conclude. I had a more mixed bag report this week. I always feel like I am missing things somewhere if it is only one comment. lol
Thank you for reading my ramblings.

Hello! Thank you so much for this! Let's goooooooo!
Which old Reddit changes are you referring to? And is there an issue with the notification bell? I might be ootl on those.
In regard to the home feed, I don't think anything has changed. It's totally possible that heavy usage could cause something like what you're describing. Also could be a side effect of an unrelated process, but that's just speculation and I don't have anything to back that up. But I have mentioned it to the home feed team just in case!
For the hacked accounts, I am working with that team and progress is being made! I've roped in another admin and the security team! However, as far as prevention goes, I'm hoping to bring up the importance of account security in this sub more frequently, just so it's on people's minds.
Currently, this would be the best place to provide feedback about the PM changes. That team is aware that there are a lot of opinions about this change and they noticed your comment! =) They're definitely looking for constructive feedback. I'll flag your feedback directly to them. They're waiting! lol
For the notification bell change, are you referring to the mini inbox being gone and how it opens now and wanting that to be an option that can be changed to how it was before? If so, it's my understanding as of yesterday that there aren't any plans to change it back. But I don't know if having a toggled option is possible, so I'll ask!
For the ad report form, it looks like some things changed! But users can still report an ad by clicking the three dots using the methods in this Help Center article.
Checking on the Super Contributor Achievement. First I'm hearing about it!
I didn't remember what I said about the top 1% Achievements, either! XD Turns out, that if you get a bunch of those in succession, if will only send the first one that is processed.
Is the wonky algorithm (which is a great name for a band btw) on old Reddit that you noticed on Tuesday still like that? I'm not getting that over here right now.
The cake day update notification lets you know that it's your cake day! It's based on UTC, so it might be a little off from your local time.
Not being to share posts from the subreddits you mod on iOS is being looked into. Nothing yet, unfortunately!
I checked with the team about Insights showing where something was crossposted to and showing where a post was crossposted to is not a thing. However, there is a thing on mobile that shows duplicate posts created from the profile, but that's independent of crossposts, so that may be what the user was seeing/thinking of?
Interesting observation about the password reset issue resurfacing! I'm going to have to look further into this, but I do have an idea as to what might be happening and how to mitigate it. Can't wait to find out if I'm right! lol
Sorry that report form wasn't working! Is it working now for you? Was it reddit.com/report or from the Help Center?
I appreciate your ramblings. It's hard to imagine that you would have missed something with all of this! lol
Thank you!

Which old Reddit changes are you referring to? And is there an issue with the notification bell? I might be ootl on those.
The bell and the look of the chat bubble now. We had a lot of questions about what was going on. Best I could do is give my educated guess since nothing was said. I was right, but it was a jarring unexpected change for some. As most changes are to be honest.
For the hacked accounts, I am working with that team and progress is being made! I’ve roped in another admin and the security team! However, as far as prevention goes, I’m hoping to bring up the importance of account security in this sub more frequently, just so it’s on people’s minds.
I am pleasantly surprised it is being taken that seriously. Having a security team also involved is good news. Thank you.
For the notification bell change, are you referring to the mini inbox being gone and how it opens now and wanting that to be an option that can be changed to how it was before? If so, it’s my understanding as of yesterday that there aren’t any plans to change it back. But I don’t know if having a toggled option is possible, so I’ll ask!
Yeah the mini inbox. I understand where they are coming from that it can’t come back. Having a toggle like the open links in window one would be a nice QOL addition if it is possible. Thanks for checking on it.
I didn’t remember what I said about the top 1% Achievements, either! XD Turns out, that if you get a bunch of those in succession, if will only send the first one that is processed.
What I was wondering is if you have both poster and commenter on the same subreddit will both show depending if you are posting or commenting. Will only one show? If so, which one?
Is the wonky algorithm (which is a great name for a band btw) on old Reddit that you noticed on Tuesday still like that? I’m not getting that over here right now.
That one was just a reported one I didn’t see but there were several reports. I have not seen any recent reports.
I checked with the team about Insights showing where something was crossposted to and showing where a post was crossposted to is not a thing. However, there is a thing on mobile that shows duplicate posts created from the profile, but that’s independent of crossposts, so that may be what the user was seeing/thinking of?
In the previous way insights were displayed, when something was crossposted it told you in a little bubble where.
Sorry that report form wasn’t working! Is it working now for you? Was it reddit.com/report or from the Help Center?
It is working now. Maybe it was just acting weird with that post for some reason.

Thanks for getting back to me!
Unexpected change is jarring. Agreed! It seems more like a lack of communication about that change on old Reddit than anything else! I'll mention to the team that's working on this project.
There's actually a lot of progress being made in the hacked account arena. I hope to be able to share an update soon, though it will unlikely be as soon as I'd like. But I'll keep using the "squeak squeak technique"! =)
Thanks for clarifying about the mini inbox. I've asked the team if there is the possibility of a toggle and I'm waiting to hear back.
Not sure about poster and commenter Achievements on the same sub and how they show! I'll check!
Following up on the Insights crossposting thing. The team says that it was a thing briefly like 5 years ago, but that it had been removed. I'm double checking to see if they know where it went or how it came back.
Glad it's working! Whew!
Thanks for the update about the algorithm on old Reddit!
In the previous way insights were displayed, when something was crossposted it told you in a little bubble where.
Really? I'll double check on that

I'm back with an update! The Super Contributor Achievement is in this Help Center article!

u/jgoja Expert Helper 2d ago
Thank you. It is really odd then. I have not contributed there since October. Guess I just have to accept it and not be the person complaining about getting an achievement.
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago
That is kind of odd. Hmm. Since I currently have their attention, I can see if there is any more info about how it's calculated. I'm also not sure how new this is and what it's based on, so maybe I'll learn about that, too!

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago
They got back to me early! Were you subscribed to the sub? If you weren't subscribed before, that might be the case since there was a bug that they fixed to remove the subscription requirement.
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago
Back again! For that user in the password reset issue post, I flagged that to the correct team and they should be able to reset their password and log in at this time. Thanks for surfacing that so they could get helped!

Question about r/bugs does someone read these topics on there and report them to the developers or is this just for the discussion of said bugs? The reason I ask is that I received a reply yesterday from a comment I made in a topic 2 months ago that reads: automod there basically goes, it looks like you're having a bug, your post has been removed, this place is for bug discussion. It is not a place to report bugs? Apparently this person has had topics deleted, I have also and have had to reword them a few times before a topic would stick. I don't recall the reason from the automoderator why it was deleted.
This brings me to a bug I noticed the other day and reported on r/bugs which makes me wonder if I wasted my time. The bug I noticed and reported is that I did not receive notification to a comment I made in a topic. Only reason I noticed this was I happened to scroll through some day old topics and noticed there were more comments added and opened it and I had 3-4 replies to my comment and I did not get notification. I checked to make sure I didn't turn off reply notifications and it was still on. Granted I have only noticed this one time but makes me wonder how many other replies I missed because of this. Even a person responded to that bug report topic and said it has been a bug for a while and he figures he wasn't getting 5-10% of his reply notifications.
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago
Hello! Yes, r/bugs is actively monitored and bugs are investigated and tracked from user reports that are posted in there.
Do you have a link to the reply you received from the 2 month old comment?

Late to the party (sorry, spend my evening in a moshpit at a punk show, and now the late 30s man here have a lot of outchies :D), but still an update:
**"new" sorting bug**
Hard to say for me this week, cause I haven't been online that much. I guess the mods of the subs listed in the last recap have way more accurate infos on that. For me it looked better so far, haven't seen missing posts.
**vote bug**
Still a thing, still the same, looks like a hard one. But as I heard the team is still working on it?
**notification page missing updates**
It looks really load-sensitive to me. Happens more often if Reddit is more active, at least the subs I'm in. One detail I just recognized yesterday was, that it seems to happen is two notifications appear at the same time, two replies on different posts in the same minute for example. Maybe thing colliding there, and one of them get erased by some weird timestamp problem or so?
**comments vanishing**
Still happens, but a lot less frequent! Maybe one out of twenty now for me. So good news on this, it's getting better :)
Other things I had this week:
(1) Since yesterday pictures are loading so damn slow! When I open my costum style feed which have pictures on every post, I can actually go making coffee :D. It's around a minute for every picture.
Seen some other reports about that, most of them on the apps, but also some on desktop.
(2) Sorting for custom feeds won't stick. It change itself back to "top" every time. I don't know if this is entended or a bug, I just prefer mine on "new" (like everything one here).
Made myself another user script for Greasymonkey for that, if anyone is interested just tell me :)
Okay, the old man have to go to bed now with a heating pad on his neck. Next punk show is in two days already, and I'm dying a bit right now :D So good night everyone!
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago
Oohh! What punk show? You're brave to brave the mosh pit! I gave that up years ago because I got the old. lol
The missing posts thing seems to be on its way to getting sorted out. Unique-Public-8594 had posted their daily tally and it was way better. Still not out of the woods and the team is still monitoring the fix, but I think we're going in the right direction.
The voting thing might be a visual error from what I can tell. Votes are working as intended, but might not be displaying properly on profiles. This is being investigated.
So you're missing notifications and it seems to be when there are multiples close to each other? That's a great detail! Thank you! Which sort of notifications?
Good news indeed that the comments vanishing may be vanishing! =D
For the slow loading pics, I was having the same thing on the Android app! It's getting better for me, so I'm hopeful that things are improving.
I don't know that I've heard about the sorting for custom feeds not sticking. Let me check on that! I'll probably end up reporting back tomorrow as I seem to have been abandoned for today. lol But I did just check it on Android and it seems to be working for me. Are you on iOS and is this still happening?
Rest up! Replies can wait until you can move again! lol

Certainly doesn't seem so. Voting simply doesnt go through. It 403's when trying to put the vote in. Upvote a one point comment, then checking in incognito still shows it at 1. Its very unikely to be a profile display thing.

Good morning!
I also get the 37 on my count in a week, but moshing around still feels like being a teenage punk again! At leat until the next morning :D Have seen 24/7 Diva Heaven yesterday, a female german punk band from Berlin. Made this short video on the first song before joing these two you can see jumping around on the left, just to start a solid moshpit five minutes later :D And I catched an e!Back to business:
As u/triangleguy3 mentioned, there's a 403 when trying to vote. I also upvoted this domment to check. Maybe this brings up some light into this. For the notifications, yeah, it seems to happen when multiple ones appearing in the same minute, only one of them goes through on the notification page. There are only reply notifications now, cause the problem with the notification settings seems to be solved.
Loading pictures seems better today. Still slow, but not as slow as the last two days.
I'm on desktop only. Actual configuration is Firefox 137.0 on MacOS 15.3.2. I already tested with a private window on Firefox to rule out cache/cookie/addons problems.
It's on the custom feeds only, all other ones stayed where I put them.Alright, let's get these groaning bones some coffee!

Groaning Bones would be a good name for a band! I'm digging that band! Thanks for the video!
Can you try upvoting this post as well so I can see what that does?
Thanks for clarifying about the notifications. I'll check with that team and see if they have any insights.
Sounds like load times are improving for both of us, so that's a good sign!
I was able to reproduce the sort not sticking for custom feeds and I've flagged it to that team. Waiting to hear back.
Enjoy the coffee! =)

Yeah, amazing band! I just found myself on hey Instagram story from video moshing around in the front row, another live show video of me I can put on a long list :D
I tried to upvote the post and took a look at the dev console while doing it. It made a XHR POST request to https://www.reddit.com/svc/shreddit/graphql which ends up in a 403.
Nice to hear the custom sub sorting looked into :)
Actually, something is off with notifications today. I haven't got a single one today on replies, they are all missing, including this one. Don't know how many are missing, I found four so far. The last notification I got was alreay 18 hours ago, nothing after that.
I was wondering why nobody's answering anymore, and I took a look into a few posts I've commented on. I actually answered on one cause I saw it in thread here without realizing it wasn't in my notifications. For the loading speed, I made another short screen recording. Still pretty show, but already better than before.
EDIT: Let me add this: Images don't seem to cache at all. When I refresh a sub or feed, all images build up again. Usually they shouldn't do that.
I just thought I hit CMD+SHIFT+R instead of CMD+R, but no, they just don't cache at all.
Don't know is this helps, I just wanted to provide that information too.2

Did you get a reply for this comment?
How is voting now for you?

u/analogMensch Helper 1d ago edited 1d ago
Still no notification on this one. Reddit was incredible slow last night and then we got locked out by network security again, so we decided to wait until today. We needed to log back in, now now things are faster again. Let's see how the notification thing is going.
EDIT: Seems to work again, I got a notification for a reply :)Have you changed something on the voting? It seems to stay now, and I can see it on my profile :)

I flagged the voting thing and it was some weird bug or glitch or something. Glad to hear it's working better now!
Also glad the notification came through! Thanks for letting me know!:

Just had a new report popping up here, but maybe it need some tim to sort itself out.
For me and my friends who all had to log back in this morning the site feels way more smooth today. Media is still a bit slow, but I think it actualy never have been the fastest on here. Maybe that's what I would call "normal Reddit speed".
Will keep an eye on things and report back is something goes off plan again.

I just want to say thank you for continuing to insist about the voting bug. It's been happening to me for about a month and I've been trying to raise awareness with comments, because obviously I can't vote.

u/analogMensch Helper 2d ago
Yeah, about the same time on here. I guess the 403 error will bring some light into this.

Thank you for all the updates. March was a very busy month with a lot of changes
Now that the April Fools event is over I should be around more :D I have felt like a ghost in r/help lately!

Thanks for all of your help with r/Field! I thought it was pretty good!
March was busy! Hoping things slow down a touch! lol

The event was a lot of fun :)
On the topic of achievements, I do have some questions I did not see asked before. If a subreddit has achievements enabled, does there need to be a minimum amount of participation in a subreddit before they "unlock"? Or can there be very few posts in a month and those posters can get the monthly achievement if they have enough upvotes?
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago
Let me check on those questions for you! Probably won't get an answer until tomorrow, though.

No rush at all. I had meant to ask this last month and forgot lol

Thank you for the support this week!!!
To clarify a few points from this post:
"new content doesn't get approved": This is incorrect, no? New Sort Bug isn't a problem with whether posts get approved. It is a problem that a certain subset of approved posts are visible in Hot, Best, and Top Sorts, but not visible in New Sort.
"They're still working on what's going on with the private subs, but they'll get there." - Ours is public and we were hit hard. Is there evidence that it was hitting private subs harder? I thought it was hitting curated subs harder, no?
Due to it's scope and persistence, would you please use a designated bug name?
"Y'all were relentlessly passionate about helping get this worked out": implies that it is now resolved? That would be great! I'll continue to monitor for a few more days to verify. So far today, we have all our content in New Sort! :D
You're amazing, u/TheOpusCroakus and u/CorrectScale!! We're grateful.

u/CorrectScale admin 2d ago
Is there evidence that it was hitting private subs harder?
Nope! Seems like this was more prevalent in public subs, but that just may have been due to higher traffic + more posts making this more visible.
implies that it is now resolved?
Our fix is working but we're still monitoring. Yes resolved, but keeping tabs on any oddities.
So far today, we have all our content in New Sort! :D
Very glad to hear that! This bug was a doozy.
Thanks for your help with this!

Hey. I can login to reddit on my phone but not the laptop. I tried to reset my password but cant even get the email. Any ideas
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago
Please try clearing your cache and cookies for just Reddit and then try logging in from old.reddit.com. Make sure that you're entering your username and password manually and not letting it autofill and see how that goes.
1
u/FredStone2020 1d ago
thanks - I think auto fill was bugging me

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 1d ago
That's a frequent culprit! Sounds like things are worked out, so that's great! Thanks for letting me know!

Good morning, I made a post in https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1jrr2xu/comment/mlh5zxz/?context=3 about the account hack. And, I lost the access to the account, and the hacker started to spam with nsfw contents as well as changing display name and profile picture. Is this something I can get help. Sorry for directly commenting here.

1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago
Hi. You'll need to reset your password. The password reset will be sent to the email that was originally on the account before it was hacked.

u/Charming-Anything700 2d ago edited 2d ago
Here the problem the email i use for the herogamer04 i tried the password reset it said there isn't a reddit account with that username despite the account is stiill up the password reset with the email act liked it was se on a different reddit account but the email was still used for the herogamer04 account as i have the screenshots that shows this strange thing
Quick update The herogamer04 account is suspended i didn't do anything that suspended worthy my account might have been hacked
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 1d ago
The account is suspended because it requires a password reset.
The email that was on the account before it was hacked has been restored, so you should be able to request a password reset email and receive it at that email.

The SETTINGS menu has dissapeared from my reddit profile using reddit on the desktop (reddit dot com). I have cleared my cache, cookies, signed in and signed out, restarted my laptop, all to no avail.
Settings shows up by clicking on my avatar on my phone though. Just not using the desktop I use the desktop with my laptop and have for years.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 1d ago
Hi. So when you click on your profile avatar, there is no "Settings" in the drop down menu? Can you access the settings from this link: https://www.reddit.com/settings/
1
u/10MileHike 1d ago
That is correct. I click on my profile avatar using the desktop version of reddit and the Settings disappeared from the drop down menu altogether.
And yes, I can access the settings from the link you provided.
So how do I get my Settings back in the drop down of my profile avatar?

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 1d ago
Thanks for getting back to me! Can you try zooming out and seeing if it shows up? If it still doesn't and you can provide a screenshot, that would be great!
1
u/10MileHike 1d ago
Will check on saurday. and provide a screenshot. Thank YOU for helping me.
(had to turn off laptop as we've been having tornado watches and warnings in my state for last 9 hours, so i unplug everything that uses a wall outlet )

Hi :)
Quick question, hopefully. Has the roll-out of body text in image posts started? If not, is there any update when we can expect it, please?
On r/LearnToReddit we're often guiding people how to make different post types, and I'm seeing the body text box, but users I'm helping aren't, presumably I was in the experiment?
