And people are always so bitchy too if you're unambitious and happy. My job isn't my passion or anything; I do the things that are required of me and that's it. What I do outside of work is so much more important.
I’m in agreement. I do wish the status quo (at least my job) was a bit more than “show up” and complete a task with quality in mind, though.
I work in a hyuge consumers-goods factory and am a former office worker. I transitioned from the corporate jetset to a soiled uniform with my name in a circle.
Every day…6 days a week I work around people whose sole existence is to do their task as quickly as possible so they can get right back on their phone, walking like a zombie down the aisle anyway with their head down towards the break room.
I can’t say I blame them or give them a hard time about it, it just seems soulless as it’s day after day. They don’t engage in conversation that is anything beyond when they get to leave.
By comparison I look to my job as a challenge…to be part of something bigger, as anywhere you spend this much time (50+ hours a week), I at least want to make something of it.
