Offers Don't give up yet!

We're now in April and I just received an offer to intern with one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world for a year. Please everyone who is still searching do not loose hope, your internship is coming. I received over 100 rejections, and each of those rejections taught me something new about how to apply, correct interview techniques and how to present myself, and the outcome is so worth it. Someone is going to see how hard you've worked, just keep powering through. This is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, and was so unbelievably worth it. You've got this!

During the Internship How do you get work to do when new at internships/working with new teams with 0 experience?

Upvotes

Not technically internship but I read similar posts and figured many people have similar problems when new in internships so thought I'd ask here.

As an engineering student, I joined my university’s racing team in freshman year, but I came in at an awkward time. Everyone already had things to do and despite asking many times for work, I did not get much to do. They only gave me very simple CAD work and I honestly did not learn anything new. People were too busy to explain to me what they were doing.

I did not quite know what I wanted from this experience. I was new in college, even new in the country, wanted to try new things, learn what people actually do in projects, that was all I knew. In the first place I had 0 idea how the race works, how this enormous organization works, what kind of work were actually out there, and what happens at what time; and I did not know how to even start asking.

Later on the year, I simply quitted. I was just tired of sitting there feeling pointless and it was easier for me to just stop going to meetings. I admit I was kinda intimidated by all the busy people too, so I probably did not try my best. But I am right now just so confused how people usually get over it.

What would you have done in a situation like this? Specifically, how do you know what questions to ask that gave you a sight of the job? Or maybe it's really just bad luck/bad timing/attitude issue on my end? Would love to hear what helped you personally, or even if you went through something similar and still don’t have an answer. Thanks!

General Feel like I'm crazy

Hey, if anyone is able to provide some help or advice I would be beyond grateful.

I've been diligently internship applying since November 2024 for summer 2025 marketing/social media internship roles. I have well over 5 years of well-rounded marketing experience and currently work in corporate. My resume is stacked, so much so that I removed a position to keep my resume to one page. Yet, I'm still getting rejections and it's so weird because I was swimming in interviews and offers last year so I'm so confused what I'm doing wrong. I'm losing it.

P.S. — I don't mean to sound cocky or anything like that, believe me I'm aware that nobody is perfect and there's always room to grow.

General International internships

To my fellow Americans, do yall know of any good third party company’s that help you intern in Australia?? I’ve been looking for a few but I’m not sure of the credibility of a few of them. I can’t do it through my uni since it doesn’t offer that so I’m trying to find a good trust worthy company:)

I’m specifically looking for media/digital marketing ones if that helps at all.

Offers Got my first summer internship offer today. When I was asked about my expected salary, I stupidly said a very low number.

After 2 interviews for a manufacturing engineering intern position, I got a phone call this morning. Before giving me the offer, the recruiter asked me about my hourly salary expectations. I wasn't thinking at all at that moment because I was so excited that I got the internship, so I just found myself saying right away, "The salary doesn't matter to me at all, the most important thing for me is the experience, and $15 per hour would be good."

Thankfully, the HR lady decided to give me $18 per hour, but now I feel so stupid because I feel like I could have gotten more.

General Certification Recommendations/Advice

I am a third year material sciences engineering major, who has an internship opportunity to work with wastewater within the city. I will most likely accept this offer just to gain experience, but to be honest, I would like to join the semi conductor industry when I graduate.

Seeking to put relevant experience on my resume, I would like to ask for advice/recommendations of certifications/programs to obtain or attend to help boost my chances of getting a job after graduation in the semi conductor industry. Thank you!

General Richemont Americas Internship Cohort

Hi everyone! I recently received an offer for a summer internship at a Richemont brand through the Richemont Americas Internship Program. During my interview, they mentioned that I'd be part of a larger intern cohort alongside interns from other Richemont maisons like Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and more. I haven’t been able to find much information about the program online, so I’d love to hear from anyone who knows more about it or connect with others participating this summer. Im really interested in learning about how much time is spent in the cohort/the projects involved vs the time spent in the normal internship. Thanks so much!

General Need to get something off my chest

After applying to over 500 internships this cycle, I was lucky enough to finally land an offer after 3 rounds of interviews for an ML intern from a mid-sized borderline Fortune 500 company with above average salary. I’m extremely grateful to have something lined up for the summer, especially given how brutal the market has been, but I can't help feeling a bit discouraged.

I’m worried about its growth potential compared to other companies specializing in tech. I have best friends who are going to highly regarded places, and working in more "traditionally exciting" or high-growth environments. It’s hard not to compare myself to them and feel like I fell short.

I’m doing my best to reframe this opportunity as a valuable stepping stone toward bigger goals. I know I should be proud. I know I sound ungrateful considering the fact that a lot of my other friends and peers are still working hard and they would kill for an internship. However, the imposter syndrome is real, and it’s been tough to shake the feeling that I’m somehow behind.

Thank you for reading my rant. I’d appreciate any other perspectives too!

Offers Amazon vs. The Trade Desk SWE Intern Summer 2025

Hey everyone—looking for some advice on choosing between two internship offers.

Amazon – Big Tech, Palo Alto

  • $65/hr + ~$2.7k/month housing stipend
  • Location: Palo Alto, CA
  • Massive intern class, good events/networking
  • Team: TBD, likely SWE, potentially infra/backend

PROS

  • Strong brand name, resume booster
  • High pay
  • Big internal systems = lots to learn
  • Full-time conversion ~70–75%
  • Palo Alto is central to Bay Area → nice network, good weather

CONS

  • Team/project is a wildcard – could be infra/tooling, which might not be very exciting
  • Big company = risk of doing siloed or repetitive work
  • Bay Area is expensive (but stipend helps)

The Trade Desk – AdTech, NYC

  • $51/hr + $2.8k/month housing stipend
  • Location: NYC
  • Medium-sized company (~3,000 people), 8 interns total
  • Full-time conversion: ~80%
  • FT salary: ~$185k (inflated due to stock, may not stay that high)

PROS

  • Smaller team = more impact/responsibility
  • NYC = energetic environment, closer to home, more social life
  • Work seems exciting and fast-paced
  • Strong conversion rate, no need to recruit again

CONS

  • Less-known company vs. Amazon
  • AdTech space isn’t as “glamorous” or generalizable
  • NYC is expensive and intense

TL;DR

Amazon = safer, name-brand, high pay, but project could be dry

TTD = exciting project + better alignment with interests, but smaller team and less stable long-term comp

Would love thoughts from people who’ve interned at either or are thinking through similar decisions.

Applications What’s the hardest part about creating your first resume?

Hey everyone!

I’m researching the challenges people face when applying for their first jobs or internships. If you’re at the beginning of your career, what do you struggle with the most when writing a resume?

• Figuring out what to include?
• Formatting and making it look good?
• Feeling like you don’t have enough experience?
• Something else?

I’d love to hear your thoughts, understanding these struggles can help create better resources for job seekers. Appreciate any insights you can share!

Interviews Messed up the damn screening interview

it was a video recording interview where it gives you the question, gives you 15 seconds to think, and 50 seconds to respond. I also only had one take. Some of my answers I did not even finish speaking and it cut my off because of the time limit... This was my first interview that was like this where I had less than a minute and I tend to ramble a bit when i talk. Should I send an email to the recruiter or anything?

Offers My tricks helped me pass more final round interviews than before

At first, I came up with this trick when I was interviewed by an AI unicorn. The hiring team informed me of the hiring manager’s name, and I accidentally search for him on LinkedIn. While browsing his profile I noticed that we had both joined in the same VC program. I used a chrome extension to analyze his posts, which gave me insights into his personality and communication style. He’s more of a strategist prefers clear responses.

So when we were interviewing, I naturally mentioned the program (not in a forced way!) and made sure not to rush my decision-making and avoided being ambiguous. The hiring manager looked pleasantly surprised. He told me he had been in the program too and started asking me lots of questions about it. I even made a few jokes about the course that made him laugh. At the end of the interview, he said It’s great to see a fellow classmate. It gave me a strong feeling that I would make it, and in the end, just as I expected, I did.

So every time I got the interviewer’s name in any interview round, I would thoroughly research their LinkedIn profile to learn about their background and analyze what they might like. Even if you don’t share a similar background, it’s never a bad idea to mention something they’re familiar with. My later success in passing interviews confirmed that this strategy worked! 🕶️

Applications Best European Countries for Non-EU Erasmus+ Internship in IT Networking?

Hey everyone,

I’m a non-EU student pursuing a Master’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and I’m currently looking for an Erasmus+ internship in IT networking. Since Erasmus+ helps with the visa process, the main issue for non-EU candidates like me is the work permit.

The problem is, I only have 28 days left to find an internship, so I really need to focus on just one or two countrieswhere I have the best chance of getting accepted. Since this is a graduation internship, I’d love to gain experience in a country where there’s a chance to secure a job afterward (though I know the job market is tough right now).

Does anyone have insights on which European countries are more likely to accept non-EU Erasmus+ interns, especially in tech fields? Any advice or experiences would be super helpful!

Just to add more context — I speak four languages fluently: Arabic, French, English, and Turkish. I’ve already done an Erasmus+ study exchange in Poland, so this is different. This time it would be for a graduation internship, and I’d be really happy if it could lead to a longer-term opportunity

Offers what would you do?

hey everyone! i have two offers right now and i’m struggling to decide. also trying to keep this as vague as possible so sorry for any confusion. i got an offer from a big name in my industry. pays $16 an hour and would be about 15-20 hours a week. i would be a general business intern. second offer is $20 an hour. start-up level company and 10 hours a week, but it’s in marketing and social media which i’m much more interested in than general business. what would you pick in my scenario? thanks!

High School Any tips for how to land this internship?

I found this job listing earlier and honestly it sounds like something I'd love to work on — even just as an intern — but it feels way above my level. I’m still in school and only have a few personal projects under my belt (some in Flutter), nothing major.

Curious if anyone here has advice on how someone like me could realistically get into something like this, or even reach out without sounding dumb or wasting their time?

Anyway here’s the listing I found:

🧠 About Flovara Inc. Flovara is a stealth-stage software company building immersive, real-world digital experiences. We're not here to build what already exists — we’re designing platforms that merge real-life interaction with next-gen tech through mobile, game mechanics, and clean UX.

We move fast, we design with purpose, and we’re scaling up now with a single, focused hire to help us bring our next build to life.

🔧 About the Role We're looking for a Mobile Developer (Flutter + Firebase) to join us on a high-impact product that's currently in development. You’ll work directly with the founder to help bring our MVP into full release.

This is a solo developer role (for now) with strong creative input and the chance to own a meaningful part of the product's evolution.

✨ What You’ll Do - Build and refine a production-ready Flutter app
- Integrate Firebase Auth, Firestore, and backend logic
- Work with location services, check-ins, and user interaction features
- Contribute ideas to improve UX, flow, and efficiency
- Collaborate directly with the core product team (design + Unity)

🧩 Requirements - Strong experience with Flutter (Dart)
- Firebase (Firestore, Auth, Functions)
- GitHub + clean commit habits
- Solid UI/UX judgment and scalable logic skills
- Able to work independently and communicate clearly

🎯 Bonus Points - Experience with Unity/AR or interactive 3D experiences
- Interest in social, real-time, or gamified app systems
- Shipped apps in your portfolio
- Passion for user-focused builds with real-world use

🔐 Why Join Flovara - Work directly with the founder (no fluff, no middle layers)
- Be the one building, not just talking
- Remote, async-friendly
- Launch something real — not just concept work
- Potential for long-term position or equity if it’s a fit

📬 How to Apply Send a brief intro and your GitHub, portfolio, or links to any relevant work.
If it clicks, they’ll send you a small technical task to get a feel for your build style and communication.

Apply here or email eduardo@getbente.com

Would love any tips from people who’ve applied to similar roles or gotten internships with early-stage startups. Do I need a big portfolio? Should I build something super polished first? Or is it okay to just reach out and ask?

Thanks in advance.
