Did the first fish die because he wasn't around to feed it? So Marc had to buy a new one lol.

u/2580374 Spider-Man Mar 30 '22

Fish can survive for more than 2 days without food, but that's not a bad idea

286

u/kuhpunkt Mar 30 '22

Can they survive 2 days without water, though?

65

u/egnaro2007 Mar 30 '22

Well.. no

5

u/KrishaCZ Apr 04 '22

neither can humans

conclusion: fish are human

16

u/Antrikshy Mar 31 '22

I'll have to do more research into this. Will let you know!

10

u/kuhpunkt Mar 31 '22

I mean, if he didn't give his fish fresh water in 2 days, would it die of thirst?!

15

u/Antrikshy Mar 31 '22

Oh you were talking about water replacement? I think everyone took your comment as a joke about taking a fish out of water for 2 days, hence the other person's reply.

I have no idea. I imagine it depends on the fish.

13

u/kuhpunkt Mar 31 '22

It was a joke! Fish don't need drinking water!

4

u/Antrikshy Mar 31 '22

Well I know the water does need to be replaced at some cadence but I've never had fishy pets!

5

u/jlucchesi324 Apr 01 '22

He's joking, but in all seriousness you don't need to replace the drinking water that often, just the straw that the fish drinks it out of. Daily (bacteria buildup).

1

u/Antrikshy Apr 02 '22

I see. Thanks!

14

u/Soft_Attempt_8650 Mar 31 '22

He could’ve just died from natural causes

8

u/favpetgoat Jimmy Woo Mar 31 '22

Maybe overfeeding it cus both people are feeding it?

2.2k

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '22

I wonder if the next episode will be the same events from Marc's point of view.

u/stf29 Daredevil Mar 30 '22 edited Mar 30 '22

It’d be awesome if they did a recap like the other shows, but the recap is entirely marc’s POV

Wandavision has been the only show so far to do something somewhat cool with the recaps, having her say “previously on wandavision” less enthusiastically with each episode

147

u/ifallupthestairsnok Fitz Mar 30 '22

It will kinda be like Marvel’s Runaways, first episode was the kids’ POV and the 2nd episode was the parents’ POV.

78

u/Karkava Mar 30 '22

Or the beginning of Jessica Jones S3 where Jess was the main POV of the first episode while Trish was the POV of the second.

30

u/PKMNTrainerMark Mar 30 '22

Huh, I didn't notice that.

5

u/twennyjuan Apr 01 '22

Me either and now I gotta watch it again.

33

u/Burrow_0wl Mar 30 '22

I never noticed that in Wandavision. I'll have to rewatch the entire season now.

31

u/TheBraude Mar 30 '22

Also some scenes were in the recap

20

u/phrankygee Mar 30 '22

Don’t all recaps contain scenes? I don’t know what you mean.

20

u/TheBraude Mar 30 '22

I meant as in they were also changed

The scenes in the recap were alterd a bit from the scenes in the original episodes

8

u/phrankygee Mar 31 '22

I don’t remember that. Maybe it’s time for a rewatch.

11

u/jgreg728 Mar 31 '22

Yeah like the “No…” scene with the manhole cover guy. She says No differently in the recap.

3

u/arfelo1 Phil Coulson Apr 03 '22

Yes, Wanda was lying and changing scenes in some recaps. Specially when she was getting cornered

3

u/Boempowered Apr 04 '22

I don’t think that was intentional, because they actually went back and fixed that. Wanda used to say “she’s gone, she didn’t belong here” in the episode 5 recap, but now she says “she left honey, she had to rush home” like she did in episode 4.

I thought it was going crazy on my latest rewatch, so I went back and watched a couple reactions on YouTube and they definitely changed it.

3

u/UnderH20giraffe Vision Mar 31 '22

Yeah, that’d be a good way to do it. Usually when there’s a shift in perspective rehash it’s not worth it - just feels like retreading the same ground. The best story way to do it is to move to the next part of the story but in the new POV, but this allows us to imagine what must’ve happened.

2

u/Wonderful-Poetry5684 Mar 31 '22

im thinking that might be what the next episode is going to be

1

u/percocet_20 Mar 31 '22

If so then it's gonna be a very violent episode lol

29

u/dacalpha Mar 30 '22

Same events from the goldfish's pov

10

u/MLein97 Mar 30 '22

There's some other show that does that? Maybe a simpsons episode, but it's the first half, then the second half, and then they meet in act 3.

3

u/Jankufood Mar 31 '22

Followed by surveillance camera guy

16

u/WhiteWolf3117 Bucky Mar 30 '22

I kinda hope not just because I don’t wanna wait 2 weeks to find out what happens.

17

u/Ambassador_of_Mercy Mar 30 '22

It would be really cool if the recap was the episode from Marc's point of view, comprised entirely of new footage. Wouldn't even mind a slightly longer recap in that case

10

u/ObiFloppin Mar 31 '22

As cool as that would be, I feel like that would be an issue for a series that will only have 6 episodes. That's my biggest issue with some of these series. 6 episodes isn't enough to tell a story imo

3

u/bveres94 Scott Lang Apr 01 '22

6 episodes isn't enough to tell a story imo

jeez you are not a fan of movies then, are you

3

[deleted]

1

u/arfelo1 Phil Coulson Apr 03 '22

And most of these are limited series, not network TV. They have a different structure too

4

u/occupy_westeros Mar 30 '22

That would be a really cool narrative conceit if every episode is a different personality. I would love to see the other half of that car chase on the alps

8

u/Chell_the_assassin Spider-Man Mar 30 '22

God no fuck that, the last thing this show needs is some hand-holdy bs where they clearly lay out exactly whats going on. The second they left Westview in Wandavision the mystery was way less engaging, I really hope they don't do the same type of thing here.

2

u/Next-Team Mar 31 '22

Oh wow that would be so dope, or hear some more from the voice talking about “oh the idiot is in control again” lol

1

u/Dr_etcer Mar 30 '22

amazing idea

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '22

So is Mark the one taking over him?

1

u/giggling_hero Mar 30 '22

That would be really fucking cool.

1

u/Imaginary_Trader Mar 31 '22

Same thought here.

And there were a few shots purposefully to show moon. I think every episode that moon will get fuller and fuller.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

It would make sense, there’s footage from the trailer of Steven/Marc in the truck that wasn’t in the first episode, so that might be when Marc's in control. Even if the full episodes not like that, probably some sort of recap from his perspective.

1

u/Wordsworth_Little Mar 31 '22

That would make a strong second episode. But I have a feeling we won't due to budget constraints. Filming scenes in Marc's point of view are going to cost more. It's simply cheaper to have Steven wake up with a bloody hand holding a scarab to convey what happened than it is to show it.

646

u/GnarlyMcRadSwag Spider-Man Mar 30 '22

Yup, trying to protect Steven it seems.

421

u/BorisFrodeno Star-Lord Mar 30 '22

Should’ve cut the fin of new Gus, Marc. Damn rookie mistake.

44

u/woahwoahvicky Mar 30 '22

he probably didn't have the heart to do so.

10

u/Esp1erre Mar 31 '22

I'm sorry, is it a pun? I didn't read the comics, but him actually having no heart would kinda make sense, considering that the scales couldn't judge him and he earlier explained to a little girl that Egyptians left the heart in a body for them to be judged by it.

3

u/FLAMINGO-DAVE Apr 02 '22

He can't be judged because his reading came back as chaotic, due to having multiple personalities within a single body.

23

u/PKMNTrainerMark Mar 30 '22

"You sure you don't have any with just one fin? Well, maybe he won't notice..."

9

u/Roboticide Hulkbuster Mar 31 '22

I mean, Marc isn't a psychopath. He's not going to mutilate a poor innocent fish.

32

u/skoon Captain Marvel Mar 30 '22

Marc finally gets back to Stevens flat. "Gah, finally gonna get some sleep so Steven isn't late to work."

Sees dead goldfish

"Cries in Mass Effect 2"

73

u/SpikeRosered Mar 30 '22

I presume every single player of ME2 has found out the game cares that you feed the fist regularly the hard way.

38

u/lanceturley Mar 30 '22

I don't know what The Aliance navy is paying my crew for if Chambers can't go to my quarters and feed my fish every once in a while. I no longer feel guilty about letting the Collectors kill her.

20

u/Texcellence Mar 30 '22

It’s a Cerberus ship in ME2 and Cerberus hates aliens, so it stands to reason that they’re not going to go out of their way to feed some filthy alien fish.

17

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '22

Chambers actually can agree to feed your fish for you, if you’re nice enough to her and you agree to go out for dinner.

21

u/lanceturley Mar 30 '22

Well, that's just ridiculous. I'm Commander Shepard, the whole crew should be fighting for the privilege of feeding my fish. /s

6

3

u/HiddenKING Mar 31 '22

Chambers fed my fish while Traynor lost my model ships.

2

u/lanceturley Mar 31 '22

You can lose the model ships? I think that would upset me more than the dead fish.

1

u/HiddenKING Mar 31 '22

I think the ships you had from ME2 get scattered throughout the Normandy in ME3.

9

u/TymStark Mar 30 '22

I can only hope I'm forgiven when we meet again...

3

u/Brilliant_watcher Mar 30 '22

I always remembered how i lost half of my fish everytime i saw my room in ME3, it was so empty....

1

u/CornholioRex Mar 31 '22

ME3 had an auto feeder, you sick son of a bitch

3

u/Brilliant_watcher Mar 31 '22

IT WAS EXPENSIVE OK. IM TRYING TO SAVE THE GALAXY FOR CHRIST´´´ S SAKE, I NEED MONEY FOR MY GUNS.

2

u/CornholioRex Mar 31 '22

I’m commander Shepard and I didn’t kiss the ass of every store on the citadel

5

u/Toss_Away_93 Mar 30 '22

This hit me right in the feels.

2

u/CornholioRex Mar 31 '22

I mean you’re trying to save a galaxy from an omnipotent force and you have time to feed the fish?!

1

u/Dog_in_human_costume Mar 31 '22

Buy the Auto Fishing feeder or bang Kelly Chambers, she will take care of em

17

u/Synicull Mar 31 '22

As a fish owner, I'm just glad he's not in a tiny bowl :P

Media representation of aquariums enrage me. I'm glad that guy had some room

If you need to know: 10000g for a Betta, at least

25

u/weusereddit4fun Luis Mar 30 '22

Can confirm.

9

u/DickInAToaster Mar 30 '22

And sprinkles.

3

u/mythriz Mar 30 '22

Maybe the fish died from poor health due to being fed junk food

24

u/stephensmat Mar 30 '22

Yeah, but I think that's what they were setting up. The Other Guy was trying to find a one-finned fish so that he wouldn't notice.

321

u/crimsoneagle1 Mar 30 '22

Begs the question of how many one finned fish Marc has had to buy over the years.

59

u/AriaoftheSol Mar 30 '22

"I don't care what that Nemo movie says. Find a pet shop that sells disabled fish and go there."

Marc's been really lucky with pet shops.

4

u/abutthole Thor Mar 31 '22

Worse. How many two finned fish has Marc bought and then "corrected"

4

u/ClearAsNight Mar 31 '22

I like it, but this begs the question of why he didn't do it this time.

5

u/ClearAsNight Mar 31 '22 edited Mar 31 '22

over the years

Based on Steven's conversation with Layla ("I've been texting and calling you for months!") I'm going to assume he's only been Steven for a few months. The fish might be a new development.

1

u/dossier762 Mar 31 '22

Or.....make...

44

u/MrCopperbottom Mar 30 '22

Wild guess: Marc emptied the tank and buried the scarab at the bottom for safe keeping. Gus didn't survive the process, hence Marc trying (and failing) to find a one-finned replacement.

7

u/The__Auditor Mar 30 '22

This would make sense

3

u/really_nice_guy_ Mar 31 '22

You don’t really need to empty the tank to put something in the bottom.

6

u/MrCopperbottom Mar 31 '22

No, but (assuming my guess is actually correct, of course, which is a big if) you need some clue that something is up before the scarab gets fished out in a later episode so the audience doesn't feel cheated. A replaced goldfish does that, while being nicely thematic to boot.

3

u/really_nice_guy_ Mar 31 '22

Yeah maybe the scarab killed the fish or something like that. Maybe it’s can also scale your heart and the fish was just a bad boy (missing fin is a fighting scar). But as others said the next episode will probably the view of Marc and we will find out what happened

1

u/No_Lawfulness_2998 Mar 31 '22

My guess is he broke the tank

17

u/reverend-mayhem Mar 30 '22 edited Mar 31 '22

Marc also knew to retape the door. My question is how he knew the combination to the ankle lock…. but why was the lock on the post?

14

u/manuka_canoe Black Widow (CA 2) Mar 30 '22

Poor Gus. :(

12

u/Bossmandude123 Mar 30 '22

I thought he would've accidentally killed it by knocking it over or something but that makes more sense

12

u/jjackson25 Phil Coulson Mar 30 '22

I suspect that the next episode will be this episode all over again but from the perspective of Marc at which point we find out what happened to the fish as well as how he ended up in the German village with a broken jaw and in possession of the scarab plus we get to see what was happening during the car chase.

8

u/Chell_the_assassin Spider-Man Mar 30 '22

I think so yes. That's why the pet store owner said "Like I told you yesterday, they all have two fins", because Marc was trying to buy another fish with one fin to replace the dead one.

12

u/hemareddit Steve Rogers Mar 30 '22

But then why would Marc visit the pet shop?

2

u/really_nice_guy_ Mar 31 '22

He put the scarab in the tank and it killed the fish. Maybe the scarab did the scale thingy with the fish and he was a bad fish. Now it’s checks out

6

u/DaveInLondon89 Mar 30 '22

aka the goldfish problem

3

u/Additional_Meeting_2 Mar 30 '22

I hope the goldfish will be added to deal MCU characters list.

2

u/PastoralSymphony Mar 30 '22

I thought it was because he broke the glass somehow

2

u/flybarger Mar 30 '22

I was thinking it might have been an accident with moving the table multiple times as Marc took over.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '22

I actually Googled this. Goldfish can grow their fins back. So I think the fact that it had two fins had grown was showing that enough time passed for that to happen.

2

u/OliviaElevenDunham Loki (Avengers) Mar 30 '22

Okay, I was wondering about that myself. If that's true, poor Gus didn't deserve that fate.

2

u/katamaritumbleweed Apr 02 '22

I think Gus the fish’s defects (not just no fin, but looks they had a spinal deformity) had more to do with their demise, than a day or two without food.

1

u/CodexSerapinianus Mar 30 '22

Naw, Marc just think the one-finned goldfish sucked and that they both deserved a fully functioning one.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '22

And he was looking for one with one fin apparently so he wouldn’t notice!

1

u/PKMNTrainerMark Mar 30 '22

Couldn't have starved to death in just two days. I'm not sure what could've actually happened, though. We'll probably find out.

1

u/ReasonablePanda3 Mar 30 '22

I almost wonder if Stephen had previously disfigured Guss, just so he'd know if he'd been replaced, only his insomnia induced scatter brain forgot he'd done that. Remember, the lady at the shop said she doesn't sell disabled animals or fish or whatever...

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

Yeah lol Mark seemed intent on hiding his neglect of his fish because of some murders in the alps.

1

u/FearlessFreak69 Mar 31 '22

Probably. Possibly maybe a nod to the goldfish have a 5 second memory? Maybe?

1

u/UncleDevil666 Baby Groot Mar 31 '22

1

u/schm0 Daredevil Mar 31 '22

There was a fight in the apartment and the fish tank broke. Marc had to spend the next few days cleaning it up.

1

u/cyndrin Apr 01 '22

I think they showed the fish swimming on its side to show the fish was dying. If the fish died, Steven would know more time had passed, so Marc replaced it, thinking he wouldn't notice. But he did. And it made him think he was losing his mind. Which he is.

1

u/EChocos Apr 02 '22

I don't think so, he is going to know what day it is as soon as he looks at the phone, why would Marc bother?
