I "defend" it because I, as a consumer with a functioning brain, can simply choose not to buy a luxury good if I deem it not worth my money.

Admittedly I only got a B in my high school economics class over 20 years ago, and never want to college, so it's entirely possible I simply don't understand any of this.

You understand how this works. I have had the unfortunate experience reading certain replies here and in other threads that goes beyond just complaining. Certain people seem to think they have a right to consume luxury goods (expensive entertainment in this case), and then encourage piracy and other socially deviant acts when they don't want to pay for said luxary good.
