When you don't understand inflation and the fact that you're not going to buy things today for the same price you paid years ago.
Blaming Nintendo is silly, but easy to do.

So technically you're right - it's not following inflation - it's cheaper than inflation says it should be by about $10. During the PS2/Xbox/GameCube Era [2000-2005] $50 was the common price.
