My university is replacing the graduation announcer with an AI announcer

Students have to scan a qr code for their name to be read by the ai voice 🤦 and yes this is the same school that put a girl on academic probation/suspension for using grammarly.

Graduation annoucing is always fun when you have complex last names. Just wait until AI attempts to pronounce them

Google/Apple GPS can't even pronounce mildly hispanic road names (Calle Mayor, Espana, etc)

GPS can’t do “English” names like Gloucester or Warwick or “American” names like Kecoughtan, either

When you say "mildly", it really depends. If someone grew up in a diverse area and took some spanish, they they might be familar with YeĂ­smo. I'd imagine coding specific sub-dialect enunciation would be really difficult.
