Howdy, I wanted to make a quick post to let everyone know about the new rule on the subreddit.

Due to a recent post, I've decided to create a rule about preventing leaked roster numbers / leaks in general from being posted.

It's been a... Wild... few months. (lets get the bad puns out of the way.)

Wilds came out, and it's been (everything we've waited for | a complete disaster). As a result, our subreddit has grown tremendously. A little too fast. We've almost doubled in subscribers since I joined the team back in September 2023, and most of that has been in the last 3 months.

In March of last year, we had a total of 300,000 visits from 50,000 users. Just last month, we had a whopping 6,000,000 visits from 600,000 users. 20 times the traffic from 12 times the user base, and for most of that, it was still only three of us to moderate it all. It was stressful for us, and more than once the idea of shuttering/privating the subreddit was discussed.

Thankfully, it didn't have to come to that. I'm happy to announce that we've recruited 6 new moderators to the team, tripling our manpower. While getting the new members up to speed and prepared to handle the task will take some time, I don't think it'll be long before we can start truly moderating this subreddit, instead of only putting out fires. Also, I've been working to get Automod properly set up so that it can catch some of the lower hanging fruit (and I'm sorry if you get caught in the crossfire, I'm working to fix that!)

So what does that mean for you, the users? We're hoping to be able to foster a better environment and experience. While this has always been a place where tempers are allowed to flare a little higher (MH Rage, not MH Sad) the amount of toxicity in here has been reaching Nerscylla levels. We'll be working to curb that back some, and let this once again be a forum to vent about that Diablos that creamed you, without having everyone who thinks themselves a god gamer give you grief about it.

I made a post like this a year or two ago, when this sub had significantly less members than it does currently. We just hit 40,000 of you with the release of Wilds.

Every time a new game releases there's an influx of new posts, raging about small and large things; but with the series' newfound popularity and the fact that Wilds sold millions of copies within its first week... the number of people raging AT the person writing rage posts, or telling them to "git gud," "skill issue," etc. has significantly increased.

Allow me to make this point crystal clear:

We're all here to rage at the moments that piss us off, to complain about that ONE RANDO who kept facetanking the OHKO attacks, or the fact that the Handler has told you to use an Herbal Medicine one time too many. This community was built on solidarity in anger at a franchise WE LOVE. Hateful remarks, unhelpful and inflammatory comments and bigotry/slurs are NOT WELCOME HERE.

The mod team has also received an alarming number of nasty messages from banned users, from slurs to bigotry. We're THREE randos on the internet moderating a sub with 40k of you. This is a 10 man job.

I've moderated this place for 6+ years by this point. It's exhausting, watching a place that once had people raging TOGETHER, now has them raging at EACH OTHER.

You may not see eye to eye with everyone, and that's okay. Agree to disagree, move on. But resorting to attacking someone for posting here is low.

Let people rage. This is a COMMUNITY, not a WARGROUND.

You're here because you're angry and frustrated with the game. We understand that, and that's why we run this sub. Tensions can run high, and venting is cathartic.

However, I've recently seen a significant increase in the number of comments being reported for telling users to commit suicide. To be extremely clear, this is not OK. Not only is such comments against site-wide TOS, it's vile.

As such, moving forward, any users who make such comments will be immediately, permanently, banned. We will not allow any appeals on these grounds.

I would also like to bring attention to Rule 10, No Loopholes. I do not care how it's worded. 'Keep Yourself Safe' isn't the clever work-around you might think it is.

Good afternoon Ragers! The Mod Team and I have been discussing some of the issues we see cropping up in the community, and we've decided to go with a straightforward and unified standard for moderation. Henceforth, moving forward, we will be implementing a strict 3 strike system for rule-breaking content:

First Strike: Content is removed, and warning posted.

Second Strike: Same as above, and user banned for 7 days.

Third Strike: Same as above, and user Permanently banned.

The Mod Team and I are hopeful that this will help curb rule violating content, in particular the "git gud" comments that provide nothing constructive to the conversation. We welcome the community's comments or feedback on this new moderation standard.

In related news, we're opening applications for the Mod Team! We're looking for one or two active, level-headed individuals to join the team and help us steer the community forward. If you're interested in helping tend to and shape the community, feel free to send us a Modmail! Past moderation experience isn't a requirement, but is certainly a plus.

Recently the mod team has noticed an influx of rule 5 being broken. We do our best to check every post, but some comments slip through the cracks. Thank you to those that browse this sub regularly for your reports, we will continue to do our best to clean up posts as we see them.

This is a rage subreddit for Monster Hunter, not a place for you to flex that you can kill a Great Jaggi in 2 seconds with your bare hands and then tell someone else to "git gud" because they can't. Be civil to one another, rage in solidarity.

Let people rage at the monsters, the mechanics, the dumb randos that they find.

This is meant to be a community, not a warground.

I have seen this problem since the base game to be honest, there was always something that felt wrong when going melee, monsters didn't really felt likethey had a pattern and felt erratic on their attacks and spammy, but apparently in Iceborn it becomes even worse which is not a suprise to anyone like me who realized this was a lready the case in the base game, it was just so much better to go ranged most ofthe time.

Contrary to games like Dark Souls or Sekiro the difficulty felt most of the time artificial... from the clunkiness of the controls and the way weapon attacks don't follow the camera (unlike ranged) to the inhabilityto cancel many moves and having to commit to the attack 100%, stunlocking and removing the player control of their character that could get you 100 to 0, one shots and to the complete erratic RNG spam from monsters, playing melee felt completely horrible, all the melee weapons are amazing and fun but the mechanics make this playstyle completely awful.

So with that being said is there any mod to help with this situation, I am a solo player and don't plan to go to multiplayer. I see tons of mods of big tits and skimpy outfits and barely anything actually useful, and god knows this game needs some changes.

Whenever new content is released for really any game I usually take a break from reddit until I can reach the content myself or I can't wait any longer, but when the etc. of the 3.0 update was spoiled for me in less than 24 hours from a thumbnail and title on YouTube, how am I supposed to avoid that. I don't have the time to delve into the update because school is such a priority right now and I was really excited to play the 3.0 update once I finished the semester. so yeeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhh I pretty much disappeared with no rhyme or reason. And I'm sorry for that. It's mostly because college has been real stressful for the last year, and I'm afraid it's not gonna lighten up for me anytime soon. But, at the very least, I have my 3DS loaded up with XX so expect a few rages here and there from me. Also I'll be lurking more, modding from the shadows or something like that.

Also, due to some conflicts of interest (and the fact that I hate how they're running things over there) I have left the Monster Hunter Gathering Hall server on Discord. This, unfortunately, also means that we no longer have a channel in there as the mods have elected to shut it down because they insist that there's no one capable of overseeing that entire operation (which doesn't make sense considering they're mods and it's in their job description but eh). So yeah, that was pretty short-lived.

Fellow Hunters:

It has been too long. Far too long. And I apologize. For fate itself has kept me away from our beloved game, and my childish emotions have kept me away from this sub. I was wistful to play a game I could not, and forced myself to think about other matters.

My life suddenly went from a relaxing stroll to a sprint in no time at all with the advent of the new school year, and I'm currently doing the best I can for my education. After all, this is the year that determines my future, in more ways than one.

My grades are improving, my SAT scores are improving, and my overall mood has improved. Still, there was something missing.

I haven't had access to my DS or Monster Hunter in general for many months, leaving my Generations account drastically behind. Hell, I'm pretty sure my Hunter is still LR. It's difficult having the parents I have sometimes, and I was only returned my beloved purple DS recently. I aim to advance the game as much as I can over break, and I've admittedly stayed away from the sub the last few months because I didn't want to feel crummy about not being able to play. I wouldn't even really know what was going on. And whats THIS ABOUT DOUBLE CROSS WTF LOL HELL YEAH

I heard the news about Swaggy about half an hour ago. It's a devastating loss to the community to have lost such an amazing person. My condolences go out to Zach's family and friends. He was one of us. He was one of the bravest hunters out of us all. He was one of the people who made me want to main Switch Axe in Generations. Now I will undoubtedly continue to do so out of respect for our fallen friend.
