Never stay tight!
Am I doing something wrong? Installed this toilet two weeks ago, sufficiently tightened (or so I thought) the toilet bolts to keep the toilet from wobbling and a few days later they're somewhat loose again. Repart, and in a few days they're loose. I'm afraid of over tightening them...what am I doing wrong?

Is there any actual reason for this double back section of pipe? Or can I just go straight?
Im replacing some old copper with pex in my crawlspace. Is there any practical reason for the way they did this copper? Or can I just go straight and take the red path? And add a shut-off around the area circled red?
It just seems odd to me that they turned right only to come right back, making me concerned there is a reason I shouldn't eliminate it lol

Trying to apply the epoxy putty on a copper drain pipe
I'm trying to seal the hole on the pipe with epoxy putty (jb weld - steelstik), and I have some questions about it. I did check the information and some step by step videos, but some information aren't covered.
First, How much of the putty do I need to use? I mean, do I need cover 2 times or 4 time bigger than the actual size of the hole?
Also, how thick does it have to be? Would 1/12th inch (2mm) be enough for sink drain pipe?
Lastly, do I need to wrap the pipe with a tape after applying the putty?
Thanks in advance.

I have some concerns about the amount of water going into my pit.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is the pit and sump pumps in my basement after three days of heavy rain, but it's been at about this rate since the first day. It's been giving me a lot of grief the past few months.
Our basement flooded a year ago when the sumps failed after a heavy early morning rain and I came home from work to 8"-10" that wiped out our water heater, furnace, washer, dryer, bottom half of our drywall, and most of the stuff in storage. These are new sumps that were installed by the plumbing service. Typically you would want a battery powered pump, but one wasn't available at the time of our emergency.
I've been weighing the idea of replacing one of these with a battery backup, but I am concerned most about the amount of water entering the pit. It doesn't seem normal. If I lost power during another storm like this there could be major damage in a very short time. And if I had to rely on a single battery-powered pump during an outage, I don't know that it could handle this workload.
There are some foundational issues that I am going inquire about soon that might be contributing. But financially I don't think I can handle many more repairs or replacements.

Claim against plumbing contractor
I hired a plumbing contractor to put in a clean out in the from yard. He assumed he knew where the main drain was and did not use shoring and caused the foundation on the porch to cave in. In addition he ran his excavator main drain causing it to collapse and now it does not work. His insurance is willing to cover the porch but says since he was hired to do the drain they will lot cover the drain. They refused to give me declarations page as well. What should I do?

Or should I just let water collect there over time? Plumber didn't caulk it so wondering if there is a reason or he just forgot?

Ultra High Water Pressure
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
They just finished rebuilding a water transfer station near my house. This is the water pressure now afterwards. I swear this is gonna take my skin off. 🤣😭 Been like this for two weeks off and on. Is this normal or will it eventually go down when they're done? Pressure on both hot and cold. It is definitely above the shower heads rated psi. 🤣

Do they also make this out of something more durable?
This was inside my sink, and it let the drain plug go up and down. Now the end of the rod is stabby-sharp after it deteriorated. Is there a version of this that doesn’t need frequent replacement?

Is this a high loop?
Wondering if I need to buy more hose to make a high loop for my dishwasher. I installed a portable washer into my sink but it is leaking on the drain cycle, making me think the drain doesn’t have enough down pressure. I just rearranged it on top of this pipe but wondering if it still isn’t “down” enough? I’m not sure how else to get the loop unless I buy more tube. But if that will fix the leaking I’ll do it!!

Can I just tighten this or is that a bad idea?
Water main coming into the basement has a very slow leak before the meter. It it as simple as trying to tighten the connection? Will I flood the house? Is the city responsible?

Washing Machine Plumbing Idiot Check
Hey Reddit fam First Time Home Buyer here needs your advice.
I'm trying to get a washer & dryer moved into the Kitchen & the initial discussion with the contractor was to install copper lines for the cold & hot water, like they're used for the kitchen sink currently. Being introvert & have no experience working on the plumbing or with any contractor so far in my life, I'm reaching out to understand if this plastic setup is good to be used or am I SOL?
Thank you

Toilet leak increasing water bill?
I recently bought a house. Noticed that my water bill is more than my parents water bill (~$80 more). I thought it was normal but then when i brought it up to my family they told me its abnormal.
It is me, my wife and my toddler. My two siblings still live with my parents and their house is 1.5x the size of my house. Shower more than us, dishes more than us and laundry more than us.
Water department said its not a meter problem (idk how they know). told us to check if there are any leaks. They told me to try food dye into each toilet tank. After 15 min one of the toilet bowls was filled with dye color, another one was very light but still changed and the third did not change colors.
Could this type of leak be a cause for a high water bill? Or is it not that significant? Also any tips on checking the meter if the toilet isn't the problem?

Difference between these pinch clamps?
So I want to pick up some PEX B pinch clamps for some work I am doing around the house. I see HD has two different types. The 2nd ones look more beefy that the 1st ones. But Wanted to ask what is the difference between them?

Soap bubbles leaking from top of Fernco coupling
Hi all. I just moved into a new condo last month and this evening after draining the sink from washing some dishes I found standing water under the sink and soap bubbles coming out the TOP of the Fernco coupling installed as shown in the photos. The sink is (seemingly) draining fine, could this just be an issue of the clamp(s) needing tightening, should I be checking for a partial clog, or some other suggestion?
Please explain like I'm 5, I'm not the handiest guy with a set of tools and wildly inexperienced with plumbing (but willing to learn!).

Help with shower connections
Can’t find the right pex fitting for the shower head and sprayer connections. The ones we have do not have deep enough threads (see second pic) please help 😭. This has paused our bathroom renovation for the night unfortunately. Would be a plus if they were carried at Home Depot or Lowe’s. Thank you in advance!

Help! I can’t get this slip joint to stop leaking on my p trap
Hi- any help is appreciated. The back connection is leaking. I have replaced the washer, sanded down the seam. I cannot get it to stop dripping. I feel like I have tried to get the washer seated correctly back there about 50 times and no luck. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Is this how it’s supposed to work?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Noticed we had water leaking whenever I would flush. Took the top off and saw that this little spout was spraying. Not sure if that is what it’s meant to do or not, doesn’t seem right to me. We never had these leaks before but I recently installed a bidet and I think it’s been doing this since then.

Water Heater Pressure Valve Dripping
So this pipe will drip water and fill this bowl all the way up, sometimes it’ll take multiple days, sometimes it’ll take less than a day. I’ve had to get a pressure valve(I think) replaced on my water heater because of my hard water calcifying it, but I’ve always wondered if I had a pressure issue also. Any ideas?

Is this bowl too empty??
Just installed a brand new Briggs toilet. Have adjusted the float to both extremes. Doesn't affect the water amount on the bowl at all, just in the tank. This is ludicrously low. What am I missing?
I don't feel like I should have time a pre flush to coat the bowl as I'm dropping deuce.

We have ~1.5"/2" Cast Iron pipe that leads to the one drain pipe. It has the plastic plug and leaks when we run the dish washer
We have had the drains and piping cleaned, last year ran a snake and some rootx(will be repeating) to clear out a bad clog. But we noticed something was still leaking in our basement. Took us a while to find it as this was covered by storage and wasn't too bad at first.
The pipe is completely clogged, not sure if that's from before it was cut or from stuff being pushed up from the drain.
How do I approach fixing this? Do I snake this pipe, the try to thread the insides and cap it?
Any guidance would be much appreciated.

What is this pipe?
This pipe has been sticking out of our vent since we moved to this new house. It’s never done anything that we have noticed until now. After a HEAVY rainfall recently we had this pipe start gushing TONS of water in the yard. The area it covered has been lacking grass so who knows how long it’s been doing this. It will also hush even if we aren’t using appliances. The AC to the house is barely on and when it gushes it’s usually on heat or off. TYIA!
