Trump is going to launch a trade war against California in the next few days.

Considering how much agriculture and manufacturing actually come out of California, this would have a substantial impact on the rest of the US. The California gdp is as much as in the top 5 gdp's in the world.

It helps using African countries to do your bidding while dangling the loans that China gave them

Where’d they learn that business model from?

I didn't say they were the first. But I will say they have been doing it for a few years.

Nixon is the one who opened trade to China, and Reagan who passed trickle down economics and allowed manufacturing offshore. This is the side effects from it .

So has India. India was about 15 years behind china on development but stalled out a bit in the mid 2010s as chinese investments in education and infrastructure in the 1990s started to pay off in the labour force whereas india just didn't have the same 'hockeystick' growth curve..

China passed the US as the largest economy in the world on PPP basis around 2009, and is now quite a bit larger than the US and Russia or the US and Japan combined.

The other particularly interesting big economies are the comparison of Russia and Japan. Both have about the same size overall economy (roughly 7 trillion PPP equivalent), Russia has about 18 million more people than Japan (so 143 vs 125 million) but Japan is, at least on a currency converted basis much richer than russia, more than double.
