This is literally it. He's just doing what Putin is telling him to do. The point is to destroy the United States, all of it.

Here’s the sad thing: I don’t think he even necessarily thinks he’s doing Putin’s bidding. Putin just tells him that doing x, y, and z will definitely make him look like a strong leader, and the nerve of country E, they are clearly looking down on you, you’d better do something about that!
