interface Scarlett solo recognized in playback engine but not I/O

If i select my scarlett for playback I can't use input for my microphone, and I can't use it for output to my headphones either.

Reset I/O to default?

I tried already and unfortunately it didn't change anything. Sorry for not listing what I'd given a shot. I'm stumped

you have to set it in the io screen

Delete all I/O that is in there and create Default.

You may have to pop into your Audio MIDI setup AND OR Audio preferences settings on Mac. Check Audio preferences if you’re on Windows & see what’s good there. Try clicking direct monitoring on the solo.

If you did all this, then it’s possible that if the newer solos run in tandem with focusrite control, something could be wrong in there too.
