Who are you taking at every draft position?
For me it goes
Cooper Flagg
Dylan Harper
Ace Bailey
V.J. Edgecombe
Tre Johnson
Kon Knueppel
r/sixers • u/loucap81 • 7h ago
What are we going to do with all these guards?
We already have a ridiculous glut of guards. I cannot believe I’m seeing people on this sub wishing for the Sixers to draft ANOTHER guard (e.g. Tre Johnson, Kon Knueppel) if we’re picking 5th or 6th.
Whether or not all these guards are viable starters, whether or not you’re a believer in Jared McCain, whether you think the team should trade Maxey for a good deal, whether you think Grimes/Butler should be resigned and/or starting, etc. is certainly up for debate. But we saw 10 years ago how things worked out when the team kept on drafting centers under the “best player available” theory. In the end Noel and Okafor sucked and we got nothing in return for them.
Speaking of centers if you’re looking to the future at center, I don’t think any of the centers in the top 10 have transformational talent and I think it’d be a mistake to spend the pick there at this juncture.
Anyway we badly need a high ceiling, starting power forward. A small forward would be fine too if that’s the BPA, given that Paul George is who he is between age and injuries, but point is please, enough with wanting more guards!

I pray the Sixers don’t draft this Maluach guy
Dude looks nothing but a system 7’2 big man. Why do people want him at 5 or 6?

I am pretty excited about how this season has played out.
Watching the Sixers turn down and chase a better position for the draft. This is actually more interesting than watching us play well when we know a conference final isn't possible. I enjoyed this season for what it is. This season is about the future. I am looking forward watching Grimes play and the losing continue this season.

In honor of his HOF induction…
Let’s remember that time Dwight Howard’s Sixers uni was torn… and he still ended up with a tech.

Older Philly fans, why could we not build a championship calibre team around Charles Barkley and were we close to getting another All Star to play along side him?
I was wondering if some of you older Philly fans can explain what went wrong in the late 80s & early 90s and why we could not build a championship calibre team around Charles Barkley?

[Shams] Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey is expected to be ruled out for the rest of the season with a finger tendon injury, sources tell ESPN. Maxey has been sidelined since March 3 and has attempted to rehab the finger, but still is dealing with discomfort and needs treatment.

101 on how to tank!
The Sixers were up 39-25 até the end of the 1st scoring a whopping 39pts in the first quarter…
Well, we need to fix that quickly!

Charania: “There was some tension there between Joel Embiid and [the Sixers] front office. The team believed he needed to play at some points this season, that he needed to get his conditioning right through playing […] he felt like he needed surgery. He ends up getting the surgery.”

Should the 76ers draft Malauch?
It makes sense to draft Embiid's replacement...Joel is getting older and he's more injury prone. Malauch at Duke is a monster already and think about how good he can be if developed properly. But also you put him next to Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain another Blue Devil and you focus the team around youth and you get rid of both Embiid and PG, then the Process, the future in Philly becomes bright again.

The Sixers Young Core is pretty good
Yes, it's been a bleak season filled with injuries and we are stuck with two of the worst contracts in the league. But we have also quietly built a decent young core that when you think about it, is better than most of the league.
Maxey (24), McCain (21), Grimes (24), Bona (22), Justin Edwards (21).
That's one all NBA player, one player with all star potential, one 20 pt scorer with good defence, and two other players with solid potential as productive players in the NBA. Sure there's Jared Butler and RCIV but I don't have too much hope for them tbh.
Now add a potential top 5 pick in a deep draft, we are doing way better than teams like the Bucks, Mavs, Heat, and Bulls when comparing their current collection of young talent.
Heck, I'd even argue that our young core is more promising than tanking teams like Washington, Nets, Toronto and even Utah! Out of those teams, Barnes is the only All NBA level potential player and they've been tanking for multiple years.
I'd say our youth movement is on par with Detroit and Atlanta, just below the elite tier of Spurs, Houston, OKC, and Orlando.
I know we give Morey crap with his obsession with signing aging stars (and aging players) but he's also done a decent job quietly building a young core in a short amount of time.

Thoughts on who we take if we get pick 5 or 6?
I think 1-4 is pretty obvious. Flagg, Harper, Ace, and then VJ. After that I’m not sure who you go with? Tre Johnson?
