Doesn't really matter if people like him if everyone keeps using his company's products, which only continues to increase his wealth and power...

You're right, but it matters to him apparently quite a bit. Being popular is the one thing they can never have because they're monsters in human skin who throw money at the problem without understanding why their actions make them disliked.
