Based off of what I watched of the first day of GST, my first impression is showing me that the athletes don't really care about this. None of the times that people raced were good, example 1 being the absolutely atrocious 5K, along with nobody going sub 10 in the 100. I don't think this is gonna last long, but am I overreacting?

Most don't post their schedule on Max Preps. Some have it on their instagram account but you really have to look for it. I'm not sure how often they have meets but it seems like once a week. Just looking for some help, they're pretty fun to go to.

On the topic of Grand Slam Track (early stages)
I don't mean to offend or have Ill intent. Track and field athletes and fans deserve more. Better initiative is there but nothing compared to NBA/Formula 1/NFL type money 🥀💔 they are only squandering the people.
Atleast they're trying at all

Before a meet, I take my implements in the house so my throwers won't have to throw cold shots. In the meet two weeks ago, my implements weighed a little heavy. Then, we had a meet after Spring Break, and our implements sat in a cold shed for ten days. They weighed under.
Does the temperature of an implement affect how much it weighs?

Hello beautiful people,
If am looking at race analyses for 100-metre sprints with all the 10-metre splits, what is the best proxy for judging an athletes capacity to accelerate quickly? Would it be the first 10 meters, 20 meters, 30 meters, or 40 meters?
Thank you!

So i went to my first HS track meet the other day. I obviously saw people win but I wasn't sure how the format worked. I don't think they had multiple rounds for the same events and do qualifying like the pros. Also I'm not sure if its a team victory or more of an individual event. Just want some clarity on how it works.

My local hs is having a meet but I've never been to one before. I don't know if its super exciting or not. I'm not sure how long they last and if they're doing a bunch of events at the same time or if they do it individually one by one. I'd be interested to see hurdles, baton, and 100m dash . I'm just wondering if its worth my time or not.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has used baking soda before a race to offset the lactic acid. Does it work? What are the chances of explosive diarrhea? And how much would a 100 lb female use before running a 400? Recommendations? Ty!!!

I haven't seen any posts about this, even though news broke yesterday. Seems like a big deal to me!

Where I live in Texas it’s gonna be really sunny when I go out to the field and warm up for a while so I don’t know what I should get for sunscreen

General Interview with Michael promoting Grand Slam Track. He covered various topics including why Tyreek wouldn't be competition for even the top 30 sprinters + Athletes having to do multiple races which I do like. The Sydney vs Paulino matchup is definitely something I wanted to as well as any 400m from Sydney 😅

I am a big follower of Scott Christensen and his philosophies. When reading his material, I am confused about how he gets his target times for his workouts. He mentions SE1 workouts, which are 97-104% of 400m vVO2, but this article states you take a runner's 400m split and multiply it by .55. Where would he have gotten the .55? Could anyone help explain how he calculates his athlete's target time for each type of workout (SE1, SE2, VO2 Max, Threshold)?
Here is the part of the article I am referring to:
"A good rule of thumb is to take each athletes current 400 meter time (should be part of their profile) and multiply by a k of .55. If there are many runners, have them do the math themselves. For example, a 2:00, 800 meter runner, who last week ran a 54.8 split on a JV mile relay would show the following equation: 54.8 x .55 = 30.14. So, for this runner: 12 x 200 at 30.2 seconds with 2:30 recovery. All variables are covered. This is called an intensive interval session."
