Discussion Jason's fallout w/ his mom
What do you think actually happened? Did she call him out on his bs and he couldn't handle it?
Did she dislike him being with two girls at once and constantly lying to "Kentucky"? This episode where she visits makes it look like they are fine, so I'm just so confused.

Discussion Season 8 Episode 7 "It's not about the pastor" RANT! Spoiler
I just finished watching season 8 ep 7, and let me just say, there have been so many moments on this show that have pissed me off but Jax and Brittany's behaviour about the pastor they initially hired for their wedding is at the top of that list.
First of all, it's been so clear all season that Brit is not secure nor at peace with her decision to marry Jax- she has full on meltdown's at any mention/questioning of her decision, even when it's in good fun and well intended (i.e. the joke the venue pulled on her bachelorette trip), I fully understand that it would get to be annoying if you feel unsupported by the people in your life, however, I think taking into consideration who she's marrying and what he's done to her , any good friend would be concerned about it, and I think it keeps getting brought up because they haven't actually done the work it takes to heal and move on from that, nor do I believe Jax has actually changed.
Now moving on to this specific episode, I want to preface with saying that I in no way believe they didn't know about this pastor's problematic beliefs until they started being tagged in comments on social media. Jax pretty much confirms it with constantly saying things like "why does it matter who officiates our wedding?", "you're allowed to believe whatever you want, just don't bring it to social media", like he doesn't actually gaf about it and how harmful that is, he just cares about how it looks publicly and the damage it could do to his brand. I am in no way a Sandoval apologist, but this episode was probably one of the only times in VPR history where I fully went "he hit the nail on the head" and was fully on his side. Sandoval expressed to James and Schwartz that he felt uncomfortable because he felt there was no way they weren't aware way before, that he felt their decision to fire him was dishonest because they only did so once Lisa talked to them/it started getting traction on Social Media, which I 100% believe is correct. It also makes sense he would feel uncomfortable as he's in the wedding party and his longterm partner at this time in the show, Ariana, is apart of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community; Why would you feel comfortable attending a ceremony that is supposed to be all about love, when the person making that marriage legitimate believes you don't have the right to exist as your true self? I actually really commended Sandoval for bringing it up to Jax, especially since Ariana expressed it had been bothering her for a very long time. Them hiring Lance Bass as a replacement also felt so performative, like look guys were obviously not homophobic, Lance Bass is officiating our wedding and coming in with a helicopter and pride flag (which in itself is awesome btw, it just doesn't feel authentic coming from them).
I can't say I was shocked at Jax's reaction to Tom bringing it up, but firing him from being in the wedding was too much. His concerns were so valid given the context, and it could have been such a civil and mature conversation, perhaps even an opportunity for Jax to intently listen and learn, but that is prob wishful thinking lol. It also pissed me off how Kristen was telling Ariana that in this case her and tom aren't allowed to have an opinion, that would be grounds for me cutting someone off fully to be quite honest. They weren't arguing about the toppings on a pizza or the flowers they chose for a wedding, the pastor their "supposedly best friends" hired openly and very publicly believed that folks apart of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community shouldn't have the right to exist as their true self, that's vile. There is NO WAY they didn't know, especially since Brittany said he was a family friend and we definitely know her mom shares those beliefs because she was more disgusted at the possibility that Jax maybe kissed a guy at one point then she was about him cheating on her daughter. I actually really agreed with Tom too in this case where he said that it's a huge red flag if you can't have any sort of honest convo with a friend. It's sooo bizarre how no one has been able to bring anything up to them this whole season without either of them completely blowing up. I think Brit feels incredibly insecure about her decision because no one at peace and happy is that reactive.
They didn't actually care about the pastor's beliefs and may even share some of them, they cared that it was starting to gain public traction thus potentially affecting their income.

Rewatch Discussion Renaissance painting
I remember seeing this amazing comment about a scene from early VPR that was like a Renaissance painting. I just saw the “Jax and Kristen banged” scene and I feel like maybe that was it? Tried searching the sub and can’t find it. Can someone help me out?
This is my first rewatch and this is seriously insanely good television omg!

Rewatch Discussion impossible to rewatch
I am currently rewatching vpr for the millionth time and it’s actually so hard to rewatch now knowing what James had been doing for so long. Watching the show is infuriating and the way the women in the show were not protected at all is awful to watch. I used to like LVP but seeing how she defends james and how they( usually tom, lvp, and ariana) baby james makes me so disgusted. Everyone was complicit and if they weren’t, they were treated like psychos because they were hating on the “just a young and dumb guy” despite the fact that james was well into his 20’s already. Tom & Tom’s casual misogyny in the way they treat not only the women they were involved with but all the women in general, INCLUDING LVP, makes my skin crawl and every season but especially s5 and s6 seem so dark now. I get RHOBH s2 vibes from the whole show now. Doute deserves the BIGGEST apology ever from everyone on that show.

Rewatch Discussion One of Lala’s Best Moments: “been with her for 2 yrs, don’t know sh*t about her”
Watching Lala and Stassi team up to go off on Jax is so healing to me. Side note: do we think the “job in hockey” was made up? Was Jax having a manic episode? So many thoughts lol

Discussion James and Lala real names
I've always wondered why it's never really brought up that both James and Lala, like Jax go by "stage names"/different last names. Lala briefly brings it up in response to Raquel at the season 10 reunion but that's really it. It doesn't matter that much just given how volatile this cast is to each other I'm always surprised is wasn't used in a way to sling insults at each other lol.

Rewatch Discussion What’s your “help I’m still at the restaurant” moment
That moment that you’ll just never be able to get over no matter how much time passes. Probably the most cliche but I’m stuck in S10 forever, just literally the pinnacle of reality TV drama. Specifically this scene with Ariana’s pure rage.
What’s your moment you’ll never move on from??

Rewatch Discussion This is why I am always torn on Scheana
She is honestly reality tv gold, even though she drives me mad. Always the girl I disliked the most on VPR; she’s a cringe pick me and she’s also the type to pour herself this kind of glass for a work break. She’s so consistent and clueless she somehow won me over in the end. Oh - and she punched Rachel.

Fired Cast Kristen and Lala in season 8 reunion
Watching the season 8 reunion and im confused by the interaction between Kristen and James regarding his sobriety. Kristen says she found it hard watching Raquel be treated so poorly by James since she was in that situation before and Lala jumps to his defence by saying she (Lala) also said fucked up things before she was sober so Kristen isn’t allowed to comment on it. What sort of logic is this??? Is part of AA not making amends with people and apologising for hurting them? Since when does sobriety mean you’re not accountable for the shit you did when you were under the influence?
I really felt bad for Kristen in this moment because even though she was really insufferable all season (sorry girl) I feel like shitty men like James and Carter really take advantage of her vulnerability and then because she herself is a person of questionable morals she gets no sympathy :( like don’t get me wrong i feel like being friends with Kristen is stressful af because she will literally sleep with your boyfriend to boost her own self esteem so I don’t blame stassi and co for being done with her shit. But like I said it’s almost as if the shitty men she ends up with recognise this “unlikeable” streak in her and so know that they can treat her like shit because she craves a relationship and they know when shit hits the fan people will be reluctant to take her side.

Rewatch Discussion Raquel/Rachel
When Raquel left the show and went to the "rehab" (?) facility and then decided to revert back to her birth name "Rachel". I find it very sweet that everyone, including Ariana, refers to her as Rachel. It is a simple thing and I think it was nice of the cast to at least respect the fact that Raquel was now going by Rachel again.
A silver lining in the shit show that is this show 😂

Discussion Ariana Madix & mental health
I love Ariana, always have, and I want to discuss some thoughts I have about her & her straightforwardness.
Imo, those who dislike Ariana simply do not understand her nuance. I see a lot of myself in her, her struggles with her sexuality/experimenting with it & feeling guilt about that, her body image issues, and her feeling that “for someone that has it all and more, my brain is still “broken””, these are all very real issues that are underrepresented.
I’ve struggled for decades with my mental health, my body image, my sexuality, and I feel as though so many people do, yet not many in the public eye address this.
I love her authenticity, and some of the reasons I’ve read on this subreddit for why people dislike her are some defence mechanisms/byproducts of the shitstorm that mental health struggles bring. For example, her “moodiness” in season 4, her and Tom’s intimacy issues in season 5/6, these are problems I can relate to, and I just feel like I get her (not in a weird parasocial way, just in a “I love seeing myself in a way that validates and normalizes it”).

Rewatch Discussion Do we agree Rachel planned on calling off the engagement before the party?
Upon rewatch, the conversation Rachel had with her dad when he said “I trust you will do the right thing” (or something like that) and then James mentions to Sandoval her dad never actually said yes when he asked his permission to marry her. I also noticed Rachel laughs when lying (which she said she hates lying) or nervous. People have mentioned that it is off putting but I know several people who laugh when nervous/etc too.
