You know they've dropped the hyperactivity mostly from the criteria as it hardly presents that way in girls. A certain hallmark trait is instead of impulsiveness is constantly daydreaming. Not sure when you were tested but the criteria, especially surrounding ADULT ADD has been revamped as not much research was put in to in until late.
The test contained a survey. "do you feel like you're run by a motor" "did you have bad grades as a kid" "where you always getting in trouble as a kid' etc etc.
Also I did a computer test which I was only supposed to hit a button when a specific number showed up. It'd flash at diff intervals and diff numbers. I think it tested impulsiveness? Thats really all that was tested and both came back negative.
For whatever its worth, this was through a university clinic and my therapist, while I did like him, was only a masters student (specializing in CBT, I think?) not a full on the psychologist.
Hmmm, many ADD adults had phenomenal grades as a kid. I was a straight A student and adored by teachers but as soon as "real work" was involved, about around highschool, my grades started to lapse because I failed to turn things in.
If you're intrigued, the book, "Driven to Distraction" has been a real eye opener as far as how to acknowledge my hangups and the mindset needed to cope with them (as well as thrive!) You could also check out the ADD symptoms online. Remember, there's the typical hallmark traits of ADD/ADHD (they've seemed to want to distance the hyperactive part recently) and then there's the ones less known, such as hyperfocusing, seldom feeling bored, excessive worrying, mood swings, poor self-observance and chronic procrastination, to name a few. Family history is another one as well.
