Hey all, I just want to drop a quick note to say how happy I am to be part of such an amazing group of talented individuals (myself excluded). Your art and attitudes brighten my day! Congratulations on a million members and here's to a million more!

Kenku at night
I asked about tutorials for misty forests before, and I got good recommendations from this sub. Does anyone know artists that have nice tutorials for pen and watercolour illustrative style of work? I mixed an matched all sorts of reference pictures and I don't think I did too bad, but I also feel like I'm stumbling in the dark.

What are they doing? Good question… Why are they doing it? Beats me!

Rooster I painted
Tried something a little different and left off any line work. Not perfect, but I think the colors came out well.
Not my chicken, and I’m not familiar enough with chicken breeds to guess what he is 😄

Small art supply stores?
I’ll gladly switch from Dick Blick to an independent art supply store in the US if they can ship lower 48. Bonus points if they practice DEI! Please let us know your favorites!

Stocking up?
Is anyone else in the US stocking up on supplies sourced in Europe or Japan? This absurd trade war will be the death knell of small independent art supply stores in the US. I can’t stand all the winning!

Marché aux Puces, my biggest and most detailed piece yet
This one was a real challenge because I typically work in such a small scale. I had so much fun with the narrative elements and putting little pieces of myself into each of the shops.

Now I get to paint something elegant! Maybe every painting becomes elegant now?

Ink and Wash Flowers
I’ve been lurking on here since starting watercolor in November. Suggestions for improvement and where to go from here?

Dendrobium Orchid
Made with Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache and Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolours on Arches hot pressed paper 140 lbs 9in x 12in. I mainly used watercolor in this painting with the exception of one color (primary red, pink leaning red) I used in gouache. Also included a couple pictures of the painting in progress and the reference I used (taken at my local city garden’s orchid show earlier this year). Hope you enjoy!
