Is there a way to get better blending between the transitions of background to the flower?

Hello fellow artists! I’m not necessarily new to watercolor, it’s definitely my preferred medium for painting, but I would still consider myself somewhat of a beginner. I know that there is still so much to learn and lots of experimentation that is almost necessary (It’s a huge part of why I love this medium so much, though it can be overwhelming at times). I’ve been playing with different styles, and this current piece I’m working on is alot more abstract/free flowing than what I’m used to. (mainly using wet-on-wet technique here) I really enjoy where this one is going, just starting to feel “stuck”
I’d love to hear any feedback, tips, or suggestions you guys may have to improve my technique, composition, etc ✨

Tried a new animal in watercolor, I like how camels look so I thought it would be fun to try one.

I am an absolute beginner for watercolor and had been watching tutorials for a while. I purchased a kit that came with a set of 12 paints and 15 pages of pre drawn scenes to paint. I finally bit the bullet and used it today.
I will say I'm not a fan of the water brush provided, but that might be just inexperience. I think it looks pretty fair from a distance for a first try. My biggest accomplishment with this one is that I mixed the gray from the pallet they provided. If kits like this don't fit here, I apologize.

So I spent the afternoon at the library and painted a penguin and some flamingos. I don't like painting from a screen, so using the big books as reference is nice.
I want to be able to paint from life. I can't wait to sit outside and paint some "real" art. I feel kind of stuck. I'm in this weird spot where I'm starting to get a handle on using watercolours. I can look at a picture and paint it at a level that feels okay. But when I'm done it feels like nothing. Like I just copied a picture, but didn't do anything creative.
Maybe I’ll try set up a little still life of my own design, or just sit on a bench and paint what’s there. I guess I need to find a balance of practice/studies, and exploring my own creativity and compositions. I'm getting bored of tutorials and study, haha. Sorry for the rambling.

I was so moved by this post that I made my own versions! Loving the inspiration of seeing thr finished works. Using handmade watercolors for Mashas granulating watercolors.

I'm a single dad that works a strange schedule. I can occasionally throw in a quick watercolor session from time to time. I like to paint post card sized paintings. I've never posted anything and I just wanted to show my paintings. I mostly paint for a bit of quietness and the feeling of producing something hopefully beautiful. What do you think?

I’m actually happy with how the bird itself came out even if the background is a little wonky, I really wanted to make a toucan of some sort and I like how this one turned out.

My ability to paint things that look like real things is limited.. I can’t draw.. never could. So I do these, which I thoroughly enjoy doing.

I started learning watercolor a little over a month ago, so I'm a just beginner. Big blank pages are very intimidating to me, so last night I decided to cut my Arches paper for bookmarks and love for manageable that felt! Also liked how simple it was to paint cherries! This whole thing took me about 30 minutes to paint and I love how it turned out!
Now my question is: how do I protect it? Should I laminate it?
