Club Weightlifting gyms/gyms at which one can weightlift in London

Hey everyone, just moved to London, looking for a solid gym that I can do some weightlifting at. I'm not sure if I'd like to go to a pure oly gym (but open to it), as I do like to utilize the machines and do a bit of general working out, but are there some good crossfit/hybrid gyms that have some platforms maybe a handful of machines?

Club I Joined A Club (cutting back on lonely garage sessions)

Really this is fluff. I finally joined a weightlifting club and my experience so far has been unbelievably fun and energizing. I highly recommend if you can do it. Great coach great people and some 2 hour sessions every week. I’m being encouraged to compete in the 50-54 masters group and getting coached up. Plus I downloaded an edit app for video and had some fun. No need for form critique on this, my coach lets me know how bad things are 😂. Finally found a group outside this sub to geek out about weightlifting with!

i was training at My Way Fitness for a few months before they asked me today to drop the weight on shock pads; definitely hurt myself today trying to control the weight doing so

i can't find a place to train where they don't have this stupid rule and i've been through 3 gyms now and i think i have to give up the sport unless someone knows a place

i have a youtube channel if anyone is interested in my progression: https://www.youtube.com/@strengthspeedfury

Club Looking for a gym in San Francisco!

Hi everyone,

My wife and I are considering a move to SF from the South Bay but are having trouble finding a gym. She is coached remotely and is nationally competitive, and the one gym we can find (called Invincible) won't let her lift there without their programming.

Does anyone know of any options we might be missing? She's very serious about OW so it's difficult to consider some of the mainstream gyms we hear are the main options in the city (Fitness SF mainly).

Thank you!

Anyone here from London. Do you know any gyms that do coaching that don’t cost dumb prices cos my schedule is messed up as I’m a student. If you know any in north west London that’d be great because I’m gonna be there for a few weeks.

Club Weightlifting group classes (not CrossFit)

I did CrossFit for many years. I am at a stage where I would like to do group weightlifting classes. What are these category of gyms or classes called ? Traditional gyms don’t work for me. I enjoy the discipline of pre programmed classes with coaches but with an emphasis on barbells with oly lifts , maybe dumbbells and even kettle bells. What should I google in my zip code ? Thanks for any guidance.

Club Hey Y’all, I’m looking to continue building out my remote weightlifting team

Hey y’all, my name’s Nik, I’m working on building my coaching business and I’m looking to take on 3 lifters for free for 3 months.

I have 10 years of experience, 5 learning under a national level coach that was trained by Tommy Kono. If you want to see my lifting, and some of my current lifters, you can find them here https://www.instagram.com/ssiweightlifting?igsh=ODU5d3BrZWVseHh6&utm_source=qr

Or the gym I was an assistant coach at here: https://www.instagram.com/chikarasport?igsh=cjBnY2ExdTZobnU1

In terms of personal achievement, I’ve coached 5 athletes to national qualifying totals (2 youth, 2 uni, 1 American open finals) and one of my current athletes just hit the qualifying total for Masters Nationals in the gym after ~1 year of training.

Personally: I’ve done 110/140 @98kg BW in training.

If you’re interested, you can reply here, DM me, or fill out the Google form I’ll put in the comments.

Please include country code in your phone number if you do not live in the US

Club Master CoronaVirus HomeGym thread.

Since Coronavirus has made many Weightlifters gymless and forced to train in their homes with non WL equipment or equipment of their own (or borrowed by their gyms), here's a thread that will be stickied until everything settles (it will be unstickied for AMA's and Havelrag's WL PT of the week in the future).

Club Weightlifting Clubs near Somerville, NJ

Hi, I’m moving to Somerville, NJ in April. I’m looking around for a gym with weightlifting equipment. I’m aware of McKenna weightlifting, Adelante barbell, and Resurgence Barbell and Fitness, but I was looking for some places a little closer if possible even if it’s a globo gym.

Club northern virginia gyms - CHFP?

Hey, I'm a beginner with < 6 months of doing these lifts. I have to move back to the DC area because of return to office mandates. I heard really good things about CH Fitness & Performance. Can anyone let me know what it's like driving around the location during club training hours? From what I know, it seems like it'll take some dedication to make that drive. I road rage real easily. Trying to find a place to live that'll let me go to this gym and commute into SW DC easily. cheers.

Club Olympic Weightlifting Gyms in the South Bay Area?

Hello, so I've been searching for a weightlifting gym around Sunnyvale/Cupertino/San Jose.

I already am being coached remotely so it rules out a lot of gyms since they charge 180-200+/mo for gym access with coaching.

I only want access to a decent bar and bumpers, and more importantly a platform. But it seems like most gyms either bundle together coaching with access to the gym, or closes super early.

If you know something that's a bit further out but still within ~35mins drive I would also consider.
Any suggestions appreciated!

Club Gyms in Roma Norte, Mexico City

I'm headed to Mexico City and staying in Roma Norte for spring break. I'll be there for a week and would really love to still train. Obviously would love to be able to do the classics if I can, but honestly as long as I could at least have access to barbell that would work.

If anyone knows of any places to train with a week pass or day passes, it would be incredibly appreciated!

Club Weightlifting gyms in Milan, Italy

Hi all, I'm moving to Milan, Italy this spring for an exchange semester at Politecnico di Milano and I wonder if anyone knows of a weightlifting gym in Milan? Or a good 'normal' gym with platforms, squat racks and bumper plates that may allow dropping weights. 😬 I have tried to search the website of the Italian federation but most of the gyms I found there seem to be super expensive crossfit gyms with limited 'open gym' sessions. I have a coach at home so I don't really need programming or anything, just a gym where I can weightlift and hopefully meet some nice gym buddies! Super thankful if anyone has any tips or ideas!

Club Weightlifting gyms in the greater Seattle area?

Hi - I am a long time lurker of this subreddit. Are there any Olympic weightlifting gyms that folks would recommend for a newbie in the greater Seattle area? I used to go to an Olympic weightlifting gym prior to COVID, but since then - plus a wrist injury that took awhile to recover from - I haven’t gotten back to it. I have continued to squat and pull, but because I haven’t done any Olympic lifts, I would effectively be starting over. Thank you!

Edit: Sorry I forgot to specify - anywhere North of Seattle is preferred, thank you!

Club Massachusetts WL gyms

Looking for some gyms to drop in at. If I don’t train in my garage I will typically train at Cambridge strength or TPS Malden. I know of RX in somerville and beantown barbell in salem but that’s about it. Any others worth visiting? Maybe even getting a membership at? I don’t mind if it’s not a WL only gym just anywhere with WL platforms really

Thanks

Club Trying to start a club/federation

I'm from a country that does not have any active weightlifting clubs or federations. I am trying to start one but not even sure where to start. I reached out to the IWF but apparently my local Olympic committee is the IWF branch here but it is suspended. When I reached out to them they had almost no idea what I was talking about and had no institutional or historical knowledge about what might be required to start it back up, but they're going to look and get back to me. We're only a small group about 4-5 people interested, with only 2 of those who have ever been a part of any federation before. Any insight would be helpful
