Magi Law ⚖ The EON Chancellor Election Gala
Following the imprisonment of the current EON Chancellor by... someone and due to the fact that we haven't had an election in...

Fuck! These were supposed to be monthly! We just let the devil run the government for HALF A YEAR?!
Ahem.
In any case, first step to amending that is holding a gala. Which is to say the Bastion (EON headquarters in the city of Maelstrom) is going to have an open bar and let you scream obscenities at the candidates for Chancellor... er... or ask them questions about policy.
Without further ado.
THE CANDIDATES
10 Suns, Bismuth Realms: 10 Suns is the world spirit and High Administrator of the Bismuth Realms, an artificial elemental plane first created by the Bismuth Lord. True to their name, 10 Suns is comprised of, well... ten suns, each one embodying one of the ten winds of magic.
10 has served EON as substantial military support in various crises and was one of the leading contributors to the construction of the Bastion. Bismuth policy since their Realms creation has been the establishment of "Perfect Order" though 10 diverges from their predecessor in trying to accomplish this through diplomacy rather than force if arms.
10 Suns currently serves EON on the Tribunal and their promotion to Chancellor would immediately trigger a runoff for their former tribunal seat.
Artemis and Vulkan, Dragon Bloc: In a shocking alignment of pro-draconic values Vulkan the Red, Dictator of Lemarcia and devout of Tiamat has aligned with Artemis, Empress of Tak'ath and daughter or Paladine.
The freshly formed "Dragon Bloc" promises that their fundamentally opposed worldviews will not interfere with their pro-dragon agenda. After checking our code of laws we found that there was actually no formal rule against two national leaders holding the seat together, and so this nonsense continues.
They aparently intend to divide the Bastion into "hot" and "cold" sides. Also Vulkan attached a list of campaign promises that appears to just be death threats in all caps. Wait, no. That was my personal mail. Unrelated to the campaign, my apologies.
Koranth, Ice Queen of the Northern Expanse: A relative newcomer on the international stage, the extradimensional entity known as Koranth is one of several atypical draconic beings that remain opposed to Vulkan and Artemis's declaration of representing all dragonkind.
Ruler, frost mage, dragon, former avatar of fear, dimensional alien, inventor, and experimental arcane physician, Koranth's goals trend toward the humanitarian with the occasional spree of mass-homicide to get there. So utilitarian, more or less.
Lappland Saluzzo, High Marshal of the Celestial Union: A longtime member of the EON in good standing, the Celestial Union's primary contribution to EON has been in matters of military conflict and has gone unequaled in that capacity since EON's founding due to the might if their interstellar navy.
The Celestial Union is a spacefaring arcane technocracy of halo-bearing entities that are often mistaken for angels but assure us they are not. They promise common-sense fituristic egalitarian governance in a world still primarily ruled by medieval terrestrial monarchs.
Sigurd, Representative of Baryogenesis: The Mage known as Sigurd the completionist, is the elected representative of the communal settlement of Baryogenesis which shares a name with the cosmological state that gave birth to the first protons and neutrons, as the settlement was built to withstand the end of the world. Sigurd intends to bring the same doomsdsy-prepper energy that led him to do that to the office of Chancellor, to better prepare EON for the threats of tomorrow.
Part time researcher and full time home invader, Sigurd was instrumental in helping Krygin the Crude implement his campaign promise of the EON Wizard Olympics.

Arach, who was attending the gala mostly so she could criticize it, notice Shrax also being in attendance. She is stunned for a moment, having not seen him in a *long** time. She rushes over to where he is and barely stops herself from crashing into him. She starts speaking before he even has time to react. Practically hopping up and down around him, giddy at his presence. Her words come out as one large run on sentence.*
“Shrax! Shrax! Shrax! Shrax! I haven’t seen you in so long, I thought maybe I never would again after you left, I left for a bit too because I was bored, but now I’m back, and your back, and this is great, and I missed you so much because everyone else is either boring or dislikes me, or tries to stop me from doing what I want, and it’s terrible, but now your back so it isn’t terrible, and this is wonderful!”
Arach does not have many friends, and tends to get lonelier than she would like to admit. She manages to calm down enough to notice the way she is acting, and attempts to regain a formal demeanor. It doesn’t really work, but she tries.
“How have you been?”

Despite the cold, black and gold exterior of the Automaton, it's clear that he's equally excited to see her, even if the circumstances are something they'd rather not be at.
"Well I've been alright, ups and downs really. Never thought I'd see you again, especially not at a place like this, of all things. Had a few blips come up here and there. The kind that requires my presence, first the void then space and now home again. Not like I signed up for the breaks anyways."
Shrax laughs it off and pulls their talk away from Vulkan's side, sitting down at a table
"How's it been with you? Still undecided on what your thing is?" He laughs a little

An immense feeling of relief rushes through Arach at his reaction. There was always some doubt within her, about their friendship. That Shrax, just like everyone else, merely tolerated her presence to avoid her lashing out. That doubt had grown with time, but now that she was actually speaking with him again it all just seemed like baseless paranoia.
“I’ve been fine for the most part. After you left I was mostly just bored, ended up doing a lot of things I probably shouldn’t have in hindsight. The metromancer dying was… it was a bit of a breaking point for me… I left a while after that, only recently came back. But I’m much better now! I’ve started to throw events again, and I’ve gotten more into politics and diplomacy! Oh! Oh! Oh! I haven’t even said the best part!”
Arach turns away from Shrax, towards a corner of the room and call out.
“Pendra, Lepid, Coron! Come over here, I have someone who I want to meet you!”
After a moment of waiting 3 figures make their way to the table. They stand in a row next to where Arach is seated. Meanwhile, Arach turns back to Shrax to give him a proper introduction.
“Shrax, these three are my children, I made them a few weeks ago.”
She motions to each as she introduces them.
“This is Coron, the eldest.”
The closest of the children to Arach gives a small bow. His skin is pure white, with weaving strands of pinks and purples running across it. He is wearing an extravagant pink suit with white accents. His pink hair drapes a bit below the shoulders before stopping.
“Then there’s Pendra.“
The middle, and tallest child gives a small wave. Her skin is a dark yellow, and her hair consists of interwoven strands of black and orangish red that reach all the way to her back. She’s wearing casual clothing, better suited for the outdoors than a gala.
“And lastly is Lepid.”
The final, and shortest of the children doesn’t look up from fidgeting with his hands. He’s clearly uncomfortable with the public gala environment, Arach doesn’t seem to notice. His skin is a dark grey, with blue hair that’s slightly shorter than Coron’s. Resting on his back are two large butterfly wings of the same blue color. He’s wearing a somewhat formal outfit, though he doesn’t look very comfortable in it.*
“You’ll have to forgive him for not being very talkative. He much prefers his books to conversation.”
Arach is clearly annoyed by his timidity, but the fact that she did not force or threaten Lepid into following her preferences is surprising. She hasn’t spared that same amount of kindness to any of her kin in the past.

Shrax greets each of them with a nod.
"It seems like they're not all that accustomed to these places, well except Coron. Though I sense it's a little begrudgingly. Regardless, they're definitely nice kids. My own is back home and well... I'm sure you know of my daughter."
Shrax sighed and lied back, pressing his wright against the wall
"Still, can't change it now. How's the nation going? If it is still there, at least. Raesteria is alright, though profits are down with all of this balancing work I've had to perform"

Arach sighs and takes a sip of wine.
“They’re kids, I made them to be adults but they’re still less than a year old. Coron will be the only one who actually will have to interact with events in any substantial way in the future. The other two have their own purposes. I’m… I’m sorry for your loss. I know that kind of thing doesn’t tend to get easier.”
She dismisses the children back to whatever they were doing before.
“As for my kingdom. I can’t remember if you were there for it or not, but the original location was a bit… completely blown up. I did it, but only to stop Ancy from taking it. I’ve made a new city now, far more traditional. It’s much easier to hold events there now. I also had to rebuild my whole population of spider servants after eradicating them all for a ritual. You might have noticed my children are very much not my own species, that’s the reason. I don’t want to have to kill them if I need to do that ritual again.”
“I have a few economic problems of my own. Personally I don’t care about sacrificing ethics for the sake of profit, but as it turns out, others don’t like it when you dump toxic waste into the environment. It’s not even like it’s in someone else’s territory! I don’t get what they’re so worked up about… Anyway, what have you been up to? This is the first time I’ve seen you around in ages, and I’ve been back for a while. There has to be some reason we haven’t ran into each other till now.”

"Minus going all over the place in a various assortment of methods, I've been putting monitors on the things that need monitoring and trying to expand my network of info. I like the lab but being as attached to it as I am means I barely know what's going outside it. Just yesterday, I thought EON was a little gone. Suppose not.
Also, The planet came under threat again- I got a few friends out there and hopefully that thing'll clear up."

“And that makes sense for why you’re so busy. I tend to take my connection to my spiders for granted. It allows me to stay informed on essentially everything going on in the world. There are some pretty large holes in my surveillance but I’m not really the espionage type so I let them be.”
“By the way I keep hearing about some sort of thing happening where people fought against bugs? I’m pretty sure I was gone for that so do you know what it was about? People have somehow manage to get less trusting of me than they already were because of it. So I assume it was something big.”

You’re a dragon, and closely involved with people who were spying on me!
/uw the only person other than shrax she considers a true friend has been dead for a while (R.I.P. Metromancer). Shrax is literally the only person she truly trusts left. The gun Carmine stole which is the reason Arach is behaving herself around him was a gift from Shrax, that’s why it’s so important to her. She has been lonely.

Lappland: Yes, most educational facilities on the Union offer courses to non-citizens too. EON Visas are one of the options, though they won't work for a prolonged stay. You will have to be registered with the Ministry of the Interior if you plan to stay for more than a year.

Lappland: Most importantly, I want to ensure that every sapient being in any EON member state has equal rights. That includes, for example, no slavery in any form. Also, the position of Chancellor will need a few reforms, like only one person being allowed to hold it at a time...
She looks in the direction of Artemis and Vulkan.
Lappland: ... and the executive orders which will need to be heavily limited at the very least.
She looks at John's seat.
Lappland: Also some reforms for task forces, there's new threats emerging since Hellfire last showed up that we don't have anyone dealing with yet. The Anti-Mage people, Tamurkhan... This place is fucked. As usual.
Rottefeld: Also, a minor thing but we will contribute more to the Bastion's defense. The CUS Cerberus is not in use anymore, so we're considering handing it over to the Bastion Defense Force, after a vote of course.
Lappland: I'll also do my best to hold weekly EON meetings again. Oh, and scientific collaboration. We're planning to host a World's Fair where everyone can show off their newest developments, that will be mostly unaffected by my election though.

Sigurd, we're not a governing body. We cannot control how others govern their countries. Win or lose, I would not have the power to change other's laws. We can only inact change on a broad spectrum, such as a general bill of rights, or making the bastion a weather experiment.
What I can say is that most of us don't have that level of technology to begin with, and so it is impossible for us to commit mass farming even if we wanted to. That being said, Tak'ath has very little animal farming whatsoever.

I have already, as you may or may not recall, convinced Vulkan to agree to making a bill for the rights and protection of fertilized eggs laid with the intent of becoming a new person, with the acknowledgement that if they somehow performed a full and true formal challenge that they can be knocked out.
Basically, they can't be brought to harm if they were gonna be someone's kids.
As far as my people go? I'm an absolutist monarch, and my citizens are in a cult dedicated to my father. Sort of a "nobody can do bad things to you except me" sort of situation, aside from the fact that I effectively never feel the need to do bad things to them.

He thinks for a moment before digging into his pack. He pulls out a bottle that seems to be made of hewn semi-opaque crystal. A faint glow emits through the rough facets of its surface, wrapped in leather cord and sealed with beeswax.
"Here. Dropneir's Draught. I liberated this bottle from the hoard of a frost giant I was... visiting. Only a single batch ever made. Glows like liquid gold, and stays cool and sweet without ice watering it down. Or if you prefer it warmed, it goes splendidly with some mulling spices."

If I ran on my own, I might win, true. But I would not be able to drag Vulkan into bills such as the egg protection one, and I'd lose some of the evil vote.
Additionally, he'd consider it an intolerable offense for me to run against him, and probably come over and murder me, rather than... considering opening up trade with Lemarcia. I've died to his claws enough for one period of being awake.
I suppose also part of this is a psychological aspect - part of my mind is still trapped in the Dyad Empire. Part of my instincts will always be to listen to him.
/uw also I don't wanna make people rely on me for EON stuff, since I can get randomly busy and struggle to get my own posts out on time as is. Vulkan's better to run the place from an OOC perspective.
...also the thought of dividing between hot and cold was funny to me lmao

So he attends, looking tired as hell but dressed regally in red silk and gold plate armor, his face powdered to hide the darkening beneath his eyes. And he begins depleting EON's blood reserves.

I can't actually remember who's responsible for the gala itself, but all the general decorations are John's duty. Something like that, but slower. Mechanisation, some gene editing, adding in cell cultures. I'm still about the right shape and species, but I find occasional repairs more convenient than having to heal on some parts.

Greetings my fellow members of EON! I am so happy to see these elections finally starting. As I have said before I seek to maximize the benefit that EON gives to its members. I want to host more events to bring people an EON together. And if possible bring more people into EON. I also want to make travel easier with the creation of a more effective trade/travel system. Finally my Chancellor decorations will be Crystal themed which will be way better than the dragon themed decorations of my opponents.
