Do unopened refills expire?
 in  r/pens  2h ago

My stash of Mitsubishi Jumbo-8 refills were all very nearly dried up... mind you, they were well over 40 years old.

That said, anyone know of any suitable replacements? The Pilot BRFN-10-EF isn't quite long enough and the tip is just a hair too large.

Take care when assembling the parts together. It's very easy to cross-thread and ruin it..

What does this text say?

"PURPLE", and I can't be bothered to spend the time to decipher whatever is behind the legible text.

This seatpost is awesome.
 in  r/foldingbikes  5d ago

I've seen others who attached a length of cable between the quick release bolt and the seat rails that matched their desired seat height. When extending the seatpost, the cable length limited how high the seat could be.

Many older pens and pencils have a spiral grooves rather than concentric.

Example: Zebra Sharbo SB-P and SB-S (~1982)

My 3-month-old folding bike. I'm planning to upgrade to a carbon fork. Do you think it's worth it?
 in  r/foldingbikes  14d ago

Do I think it's worth it? No.

Does that mean you shouldn't think it is? No.

Gear ration : Chain ring upgrade?
 in  r/foldingbikes  15d ago

If you don’t mind the cost, get a Sturmey Archer CS-RK3 rear hub, it has a 3-speed internal hub and still allows use of a 8/9-speed cassette (11-34T). Combine that with a 52T chainring and you have pretty much the same wide gear range as a full-sized 24/27-speed bike.

I have the hub on my foldie and it makes a world of difference…
