The $50 trump store hats are reputedly made in the USA.

Does anyone else get this?
 in  r/Carpentry  10h ago

It's normal, then when you get to be around 50, it gets worse. By then, you will have absolutely nailed a few jobs, and subsequently, you get even more critical.

I've got 40+ years in. No regrets.

Put it down, back away. Tell someone exactly where you found it and when.

It's not going to be cool if you or one of your friends gets a hole put in you.

What's the deal with the Grateful Dead?
 in  r/AskOldPeople  14h ago

A great deal of it was being immersed in the live performances, which were great fun. The studio records were impeccably produced.

Speakers: which one would you pick?

The 23's. No question.

Did girls really go crazy, such as screaming, peeing themselves and fainting while watching Elvis Presley on stage?
 in  r/AskOldPeople  1d ago

I saw them, and HEARD them, losing their minds seeing g the Beatles. It was nuts.

Sen. Bill Cassidy
 in  r/NewOrleans  4d ago

I got through to The Hyperchicken in DC, Cassidy in DC, and Cassidy in Metairie. Also Scalise's office and Mike Johnson's office. Everybody got a piece of my take on the current state of affairs. I was on fire. Polite but firm. Insistent.

One of the very few times I've gotten through to Cassidy, though.

The patient lived, but it's not healing. It's getting worse.

The โ€œgeniusโ€ of tariffs

It's a beguiling theory, to be sure. However, if it was this easy, we would have likely done it sooner. This scenario assumes that we are doing it in an economic vacuum without externalities.

Maybe this is done frequently, but it's the first one I've seen in the wild

What's a good resistor to use in place of a speaker for testing?
 in  r/ToobAmps  5d ago

Aluminum bodied chassis mount resistors are perfect for this. They are sometimes referred to as 'dummy loads'. The ones I use have lug terminals. I've soldered wires to them and put spade terminals on the end of the wires.

On the C4000 do you have the holographic injection ratio set to 'normal' or 'theoretical'?

A vintage Rolls Royce is an absolutely heartbreaking money pit.

The screw mounted tube sockets to me indicate small-scale production or kit.

Carpenters of Reddit, do you regret going into Carpentry? If so, what else would you have gone in?
 in  r/Carpentry  8d ago

40+ years, no regrets. So many different jobs, so many different people, so many different environments. It's been a struggle sometimes, and a triumph more often.

Listen to your body. Listen to the radio.
