Maybe this is done frequently, but it's the first one I've seen in the wild

Does anyone else get this?
It's normal, then when you get to be around 50, it gets worse. By then, you will have absolutely nailed a few jobs, and subsequently, you get even more critical.
I've got 40+ years in. No regrets.

What's a good resistor to use in place of a speaker for testing?
Aluminum bodied chassis mount resistors are perfect for this. They are sometimes referred to as 'dummy loads'. The ones I use have lug terminals. I've soldered wires to them and put spade terminals on the end of the wires.
