Claret suggestions

Hi all, I recently replied to a post about Merlots recommendations, stating my love for Pride Mountain’s version. Thanks to a comment from u/JennaTulwartz, I was made aware of Pride’s Reserve Claret, and I was blown away. I am looking for more similar recommendations, especially ones that are more cost effective than Pride. I love that place and their wines, but I can’t afford to drink them all the time. Thanks in advance!

Yeah I have a friend that’s a Terps fan and he was really happy about where he landed, just sad he left.

Grapefruit, peach, honeysuckle, acidity is like the skin of a Granny Smith apple. I’m getting more tomorrow.

What’s a wine description that really clicked for you and made you go ”ah, that’s what it tastes like!”
 in  r/wine  7d ago

For me, I smell a lot of reds through the prisms of leather. For Sangiovese, it’s a hot, dusty, dry, barnyard saddle and hay with probably cherries. For Bordeaux, it’s wet, chilly, damp barnyard saddle and hay with probably blueberries or blackberries. And Rhône seems to straddle that line (with other notes, of course) for me, which is why I probably love it the most, along with super Tuscans.

This is the first time that alcohol might encourage me to improve my health.

Bored at work and don’t really know which red wines are good. Any recommendations?

Not me rushing back to the pic only to be disappointed

I don’t know about the domestic reds, but you nailed my thoughts on Jadot. The Beaujolais has actually come through quite well for me in a pinch before. Was expecting way less out of a $15 bottle.

“looks now like he was not telling the truth” I just can’t. I almost feel bad for them. But he’s literally been lying since the day he could talk. We are so hopeless.

Who’s a comedian you never really thought that was funny but everyone else seems to love?

The idea that a comedian as bad as Rogan is the comedy tastemaker that he is has always baffled me. But it’s hard to argue with the numbers.

I admit, upon opening, it was pretty weird. Pure Copenhagen brand snuff. Then olive tapenade developed. Then it was like tobacco and olives soaked in Luxardo cherry juice. Eventually some blueberry snuck in, faintly. Later, everything I mentioned integrated into something pretty badass to the point where I couldn’t really discern the original notes separate from what it had become. $60 on WineBid. I may look for more and just decant the hell out of it.

I've never had Ridge before. Did I make a good decision in this Last Bottle marathon?
 in  r/wine  9d ago

Haven’t had Ridge, but $35 is almost always worth trying something new imo.

Xbox. R1. It almost never works. But when it does, chef’s kiss.
