EMDR has been a life-changer... but parts of my life are collapsing?
 in  r/EMDR  6d ago

It definitely did. Within 2 months. I think a lot of us realize through EMDR that we tend to let things slide that we shouldn’t.

I can relate to the marriage thing. It happened quickly.

Sorry op- but speaking from experience on toxic in-laws, no home is worth your mental health

Wife pushing EMDR to change my mind on kids. I think it will help w/trauma but not changing mind. Still excited to do it to heal childhood issues.

It could. But depending on how deep the trauma wounds are, you may need to pause indefinitely during a divorce process. Both can be super destabilizing.

Agreed. EMDR for childhood trauma is rough as hell, and now that I know what it’s like, I would never do it for anyone but me. And I would never ask anyone to do it for me.

Maybe the stylist put something on your hair that’s weighing it down? A silicone serum maybe?

Some of the prion diseases are spread by humans to their progeny

Do nparents care if their children kill themselves?
 in  r/raisedbynarcissists  16d ago

So I’ve seen this first-hand in my family- how they react to their children’s (and siblings’) suicides. The short answer is yes, they care. But not in the way you wish they did. Like everything else, it’s simply another reflection on them.

Women of this subreddit, is this statement from my mom true?

Hell no. Absolutely not. In fact throughout my family, it’s usually the male progeny who usually continue to take care of the old narcs.

I originally went to a salon for curly hair and used a stylist with thick, coarse curly hair. Then I landed on a different stylist there whose hair is like mine. But if I were doing it again, I’d ask them for someone with fine or wavy hair. My current stylist takes a less is more approach that works for me.

Also, I do like Innersense products generally for my hair. I like the Pure line for shampoo and conditioner. A lot of oils are listed, but the products are not oily and don’t build up (except over time, the protein does, so I have to switch off with protein-free stuff from other lines). The I Create Volume gel is great, too. And the I Create Definition foam is really high hold. I have it right now, but I find it a bit gooey when dry. But stick with the Giovanni. It holds and doesn’t build up. If you need even lighter, the Mixed Chicks Morning After foam or the Not Your Mother’s Refresh foam are super light.

Get Giovanni Air Turbo Charged foam. Use only that as your styling product. My hair is fine like yours and the Shea Moisture and Innersense foams can still be too heavy. Or I like a light gel like Jessicurl Spiralicious or Confident Coils. Malibu Undo Goo or Swimmers shampoo are my go-to for buildup. I would suggest using a vitamin c treatment on your hair like Malibu Swimmers Wellness packets to get the buildup off. Or pay a salon to do a Crystal Gel treatment under the dryer. I do those twice a year. It helps a lot. I also get my hair cut in layers by someone with fine curly hair.

Get a rinse out conditioner and use both. Even Suave Tropical Coconut would be a start.

Skip the baking soda and use a swimmer’s shampoo with conditioner

If he swam a lot last year, he probably has copper buildup in his hair. Malibu Swimmer’s Wellness Remedy packets are great. I would use a packet on it now as a chlorine and metal removing treatment, and then once a week during the swimming season. It will make his hair softer and less tangly.

The Not Your Mother’s conditioners are actually pretty good. We like the coconut water sea kale one for our wavy curly hair.

Kiddo was the good mood one. Most of the others were things you’d call a baby with a nasty diaper as a joke.
