How do i get strong arms and legs and increase stamina FAST if i am weak and never exercise?
 in  r/AskMenAdvice  1d ago

There is no fast track. it's as simple as that. But the next best thing is consistent and solid training. I could write a novel, but instead I'll just point you towards easily the best weightlifting blog on the internet: https://www.strongerbyscience.com/

I recommend these articles at first:

Don't binge these. Take them a bite at a time. I recommend the top one first, but the others you can read in whatever order you want.

Medical bureaucracy under socialism?

I want to add that when the material conditions for the physician are guaranteed too, then longer periods of supervised training become more attractive and could help reduce the number of mistakes.

Medical bureaucracy under socialism?
 in  r/Socialism_101  2d ago

A couple of ways. First, many motivators for malpractice suits are rooted in the material conditions in capitalism. When putting food on the table isn't guaranteed, then the prospect of a large sum of money in a lawsuit becomes extremely attractive, especially if the medical mistake resulted in lost income or lost earning potential due to a new disability. When food on the table is guaranteed, these motivators aren't as strong.

Second, I'm more knowledgeable on the US medical industry, but my understanding is the constant defunding of the NHS has made it less desirable to become a physician. The demand for medical care is generally pretty stable outside of long term trends and acute events like a pandemic. So when the supply of doctors goes down, that means each doctor is responsible for more patients, making mistakes more likely. In the US, residency positions are largely determined by federal funding, and the American Medical Association has a history of lobbying to restrict the number of positions to increase physician salaries. As a result, we have a similar supply issue here. With a proper supply of providers, many mistakes can be avoided.

Arguing against human nature
 in  r/communism  2d ago

Individuals categorizing others into 'classes' isn't what class means in a Marxist sense. Class is defined by one's relationship to the means of production. Are you a serf or a lord? a master or slave? an employer or employee? Communism creates a classless society by structuring so that everyone has the same relationship to the means of production.

Racism is, in fact, a product of class warfare. First, in order to justify the horrific treatment of African slaves, they had to retroactively invent the concept of race, make it hierarchical, and place Africans at the bottom. Racism could not exist until this concept of race was created. Second, at least in the US, after abolition ex slave owners continued to use race to divide workers and prevent them from forming solidarity.

Insofar as racism (or more accurately prejudice) is part of human nature, it's a behavior that adapted in a world of scarce resources where someone that you deem different from you could pose a threat to your survival. By building solidarity, you change the way we divide people up away from race and towards class. If prejudice continues to exist in a classless society, it will be based on how we divide each other up in that society, which almost certainly won't be by race/skin color.

Do Some Men Secretly Wish They Were Asexual?
 in  r/AskMenAdvice  2d ago

Asexual is a sexual orientation and only means you don't feel sexual attraction to people. You can still have romantic feelings for someone and go through the whole song and dance of courting unless you are also aromantic. Also asexual people can still like and want sex for the pleasure of it without feeling a sexual attraction towards someone.

Lazy older brother has no intention for self improvement
 in  r/AskMenAdvice  2d ago

Unfortunately you can't force someone to get help.

Even though you don't realize it or mean to, you are all enabling the behavior. He doesn't see consequences for his actions. Sometimes people are bad enough that they need 'tough love' to come around to getting help. You all might have to make a tough decision about whether to keep providing for him despite his behavior.

Sucks man, I'm sorry. But I want you to come away from this understanding that he's depressed and needs help. The question is how to get him to accept it.

Changes in appetite can fluctuate and just getting out of the house and trying to be normal for extended family could be enough to improve it temporarily. Trash talking is a very common coping mechanism for people with low self-esteem. Putting up a façade of arrogance to hide your self-esteem from others is also common.

Mental illness makes people do toxic shit, and there's not an excuse for it. But it doesn't change the fact that he needs professional help.

What have you done to help him nicely?

You don't need to be depressed 'about' anything. An if there was a trigger, it doesn't matter if it didn't effect other people the same way. Everything you're trash talking about him are literally symptoms of depression. Irregular sleep schedules, lack of interest/motivation, low self-esteem, loss of appetite, poor concentration. Get him help and stop being a dick.

Do you date Trump supporters?
 in  r/AskMenAdvice  2d ago

I'd go on a date with one in principle, but a long term relationship would absolutely not last lol. Plus every time I see a conservative woman, she's just a cookie cutter fox news host lookalike at best. On the apps I'm always swiping left for reasons other than her politics.

Dating & weight

Everyone will be a little different but for me:

thick = muscular with curves

curves = hips > breasts > waist

chubby and obese = different degrees of their waist being bigger

What’s something annoying/cringe you see on women’s dating app profiles?
 in  r/AskMenAdvice  2d ago

pictures with filters - one can be okay but it seems like it's either 0 or all of them.

Group photo as the first pic - everyone assumes you're the ugliest one.

Only selfies of your face - everyone assumes you're overweight, insecure, and catfishing.

The manliest thing you can do is not let 'manliness' dictate what you do.

[request] Is the $20 billion figure cited accurate?
 in  r/theydidthemath  3d ago

Public housing was initially supposed to be mixed income and self sufficient. Middle income folks got similar quality as the private market for lower cost, lower income people got better quality housing for the same or cheaper than they could get on the private market. The rent revenue would make each project self sufficient with middle incomes subsidizing lower incomes.

The real-estate lobby managed to lower the income cap to qualify and ruined the entire thing. Housing projects today are so bad because they require external funding which frequently gets cut.

How do I help a guy last longer in bed?
 in  r/AskRedditAfterDark  3d ago

Addiction is a behavioral problem and requires drug seeking. You could call it a dependency but addiction just doesn't fit.

The clinical definition of premature ejaculation is the inability to control an orgasm, lasting less than 1-3 minutes in 75% of piv, and it causes a problem in the relationship. No one is obligated to go seek treatment, but it's worth considering. SSRI's plus behavioral therapy are the most effective treatment.

I looked pretty extensively and can't find anything that looks at PSSD specifically in patients with premature ejaculation. I would expect it to be less common than in people taking SSRIs for other reasons, but that's just speculation. There really isn't any great data on prevalence or risk factors, so if you want to take a precautionary approach, that's reasonable.

But there's an SSRI specifically approved for PE (the others are used off-label), dapoxetine. It has a short half-life so can be used on demand and doesn't cause any discontinuation syndrome. Doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier, so no suicidality or flat affect. No reports yet of PSSD. It's a new drug, so might come up later, but since it has such a short half-life I'd suspect that persistent issues would be pretty obvious.

They are indicated for use in people with premature ejaculation. They aren't addictive, there is a 'discontinuation syndrome' when you stop them that is definitely unpleasant, but you don't crave the drug when you try to stop. Suicide risk comes from someone that is already suicidal, but is so depressed they lack the motivation to go through with it. The SSRIs give them the motivation to do it. That wouldn't happen if OP isn't suicidal already

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. They're antidepressants but as a side effect make it harder to cum. But if you have a preme problem, it will just make you last longer.

People with religious backgrounds can often have some residual sexual repression even if they don't still practice.

These are the same people that will bring up physical differences when it comes to trans people in bathrooms. But when it comes to stalking, apparently there's no difference at all. Bad faith garbage.

No this is just a fact. You don't need to deny that men are more threatening on average in order to accept that men can be victims too.

How would you feel if a woman made out with you like crazy but refused to let you touch her?
 in  r/AskMenAdvice  4d ago

That's an escalation from just making out that she isn't comfortable with yet. If you're just looking to get some, then move on. Otherwise respect her boundaries.
