My goodness! And you gave him multiple clear signals to stop and ease off, and he just doubled down instead. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot and feeling like such a special snowflake about it.

Damn, amazing. Maybe buy the 50 separately and sell this one for a profit second hand. Depends on your own ethics too of course.

Parents of Australia, I recall in the mid 80's early 90's we'd roam the neighbourhood on our bikes, walk to local milkbar and park, play in the street with the other kids.
 in  r/AskAnAustralian  11d ago

Ah OK fair enough, that makes sense then. Sorry you had that experience. Even the subtlest of harassment experiences can have a deep effect on kids.

That sounds like it could also just be someone who was particularly careful when driving around kids and obviously that's the only time you saw him, no?

Whoosh

Quality is King.
 in  r/auscorp  12d ago

This is fine in principle if you can get actual decision makers to agree on trading off time and cost for the sake of quality. The 80% you do needs to be 100% workable and testable before the next iteration where you might deliver the remainder of the 20%, but in the meantime the powers that be of bureaucracy will care more about cost and time more often than not.

just bought our forever home! the dreaded question, do i paint the wood??
 in  r/interiordecorating  21d ago

Hey listen, I appreciate what you're saying but I have first hand experience with this in my house that I bought a couple of years ago. I was also conflicted and decided to leave the wood trim alone and it worked. And this is despite even my floors being a walnut color engineered wood!

This is what I did and what I learnt.

That stain of wood is very warm in tone. It dominates in warmth a lot and that's what makes it feel very dated and old in a way. What helps is to balance this by painting your walls in cool white and very modern colors.

I used a cool white, a cool grey for some of the walls, and some dark accent color walls too that were also cool in tone. I also use cool or very neutral at least curtains, and made sure my artwork, cushions, plants, etc are not overly warm in colors like red or orange.

It could just be the photos but your wall adjacent to the staircase makes it seem to be a warm white or even off white. Change that.

And yes definitely change the carpet as others have suggested.

I would do all of that before you decide what you want to do with the wood.

Oh and I spent a lot of time on Pinterrst to research looks like modern farmhouse and "wood floors with white walls" and other things like that to see and imagine.

Good luck!

What's a job you wouldnt take even if it paid 500k a year?
 in  r/AskReddit  22d ago

I did. I'm just making my own philosophical interpretation, thinking about how senior management / junior executives in corporate organisations in the real world often seem to be.

Maybe they were severed at such a young age and never switch that it's practically like they're not severed but they are disconnected from their true selves.
