What stage of capitalism is this when a dumb, random twitter account that bought a checkmark can move trillions in market value in minutes....?
 in  r/Destiny  25m ago

Bro I remember when Elon first let people buy the blue check, I was like, "couldn't this lead to someone who is verified causing a massive panic if they tweet the wrong thing?"

And everyone was like, LOL that would never happen.

Well...

Tesla estimates cut further on 'unprecedented brand damage'
 in  r/teslastockholders  35m ago

Guys guys don't worry. In just one year, Optimus robots will be in every American household and Tesla will be selling at $2000!! So keep your money in, and don't worry if you see every Tesla board member furiously selling their stock. They're only doing that to make room for you!

There is hope, right?

Not everyone who voted Trump is a frothing MAGA loyalist. There are plenty of people who are just uninformed and had rose colored glasses about Trump's first term pre-covid. These are the type of people that will jump ship.

To simplify what you said, Hanaina heard what he wanted to hear, not what Trump was actually saying. This isn't an excuse.

On the campaign trail Trump said over and over again things like "maybe I'll do a 25% tariff on everyone! Maybe we have to do 100% tariffs!". He clearly thought tariffs would just solve everything.

This reminds me of when Trump clearly telegraphed he was planning something big on Jan 6, and then everyone was shocked when it happened.

Anyone with half a brain knows that imposing massive tariffs will hurt the economy far more than any kind of income tax cut will help it. It's like saying you're going to give someone a snickers bar, but also cut off their leg.

Violence is not the answer. But Florida man is turning on trump too😂
 in  r/thedavidpakmanshow  8h ago

Interesting question, what does disgusting chameleon jd Vance turn into if Trump croaks? Right now, JD is just a full on replica of Trump, but he could easily just shift into something else if the situation called for it.

Does he stay in "Trump mode" or does he change into something else if he's president?

If you are all about the market, then Trump was clearly the worse choice. Trump talked over and over again about tariffs. It was like his only economic talking point.

It boggles the mind how so many people are "shocked" that Trump did the tariffs he said he would do like 1000 times on the campaign trail. And basically every economist who isn't on the Trump payroll says that tariffs are bad and big tariffs are really really bad.

Political News/Discussion We need to stop calling them the Trump tariffs and start calling them the Republican or GOP tariffs

Look, I know these tariffs are Trump's brainchild. But here's the thing, they wouldn't ever have happened if the Republicans in congress wouldn't have let them happen. Trump is using emergency powers in an incredibly dubious way to enact tariffs, which are supposed to be a congressional power.

And the only reason he can do this is because the Republicans in congress refuse to stop him from doing it. I think that they are thinking they can just let this ride out, stay quiet, and then try to distance themselves from Trump once this all completely blows up.

No no no, we can't let them do this. These tariffs are THEIR tariffs, the GOP owns them, it's not not just Trump. That's why I think we have to rebrand these things as the GOP tariffs because thats what they are.

How do you feel about people damaging and setting fire to Teslas?
 in  r/Destiny  1d ago

I feel like it will make insurance rates on Teslas go up, and people will be less likely to buy a Tesla if they have to pay a huge premium on insurance.

Can democrats rebrand bringing manufacturing jobs if Trump fumbles the ball?
 in  r/thedavidpakmanshow  1d ago

The United States is the number two manufacturing country in the world. Our unemployment is already low. There is literally no reason for this obsession about bringing back manufacturing jobs.

At this point, it's basically a myth that US workers are suffering so greatly because they don't have the privilege of working 12 hours a day for minimum wage riveting steel.

Political News/Discussion The "actual" genius of Donald Trump

Trump is a moron in nearly every regard, I've said it over and over again, and I stick to it. But I do think there is ONE thing that he is almost a genius with, an idiot savant if you will, and that thing is double-speaking around everything he does so that no matter what the outcome is, it looks like he "won."

Take the tariffs for instance, Trump has said that these tariffs will both "bring manufacturing back to the US" and "help us negotiate better trade deals." Now here's the thing, these are almost mutually exclusive. If the tariffs are to bring manufacturing back, they need to be long-term to protect investments on-shores. If they are a negotiating tool, then they are by definition, short-term.

But here's the genius. Everyone is already talking about what the "real" goal behind the tariffs are, are they are negotiating tool? Are they a long term strategy? Here's the truth, Trump doesn't even know! He's just giving himself an out no matter what happens.

So if he gets pressured too hard and has to take the tariffs off, he shows how some tiny, insignificant country capitulated to his tariffs and calls it a great success! And of course he HAD to make the tariffs LOOK like they were long-term just so he could get a good deal right? It was all part of his 5D chess!

If he has to keep the tariffs on, he just tells everyone this is part of his grand strategy to bring manufacturing back, and they just have to believe in the plan!

The dude does this doublespeak crap with almost everything he does. It's the ONE thing about him that is kind of genius, unfortunately it's also insanely dishonest by nature.

The Gamers are Rising Up
 in  r/Destiny  1d ago

First, they came for the Switch, and I said nothing because I was not a Nintendo gamer.

Then, they came for the PlayStation, and I said nothing because I was not a console peasant.

When they finally came for the PC games, there was no one left to speak up for me.

I think everyone's memory holing the real reason for the tariffs
 in  r/Destiny  1d ago

If you wanted negative interest rates, you probably shouldn't have done something that is insanely inflationary 😂.

New talking points from low information voters - "Dems were FOR tariffs!"
 in  r/Destiny  2d ago

It's like if Trump put a marginal tax rate of 90% on income from $20,000 - $60,000 and conservatives were like "What? I thought Democrats were for taxes!"

2

Calling it, the next conservative talking point for the next 10 years after Trump completely fucks our country up and the MAGA cult dies out will be: “Yea he was bad but Kamala would’ve been worse.”
 in  r/Destiny  2d ago

Nope, they all act like they never supported Trump and the Democrats of their current era actually represent everything that everyone hated about Trump.

Think this is far fetched? How do conservatives view George W Bush now?

Trump Shocks With Massive New Tariffs That Could Make The Switch 2 Cost More Than $600
 in  r/technology  3d ago

But wait, didn't all the gamers want all of this "woke trans ideology" out of their games? Didn't they win when Trump got elected? I don't want to hear any gamers that supported Trump complain when they have to pay $120 for Stellar Blade 2.

Hear me out Destiny, I know you never were a Yang Gang, but I think we have a path in 2028.
 in  r/Destiny  3d ago

All of these business bro's that backed Trump need to do a full 180 and start hard supporting Dems. I'm sorry guys, maybe you won't get your 80 gajillion dollar tax cut with Dems. But at least they won't completely destroy the global economy by just being dumb.
