Carney ‘does not give a damn’ about Quebec, Blanchet says
 in  r/CanadaPolitics  8m ago

I wouldn't go as far as Blanchet and sat he doesn't give a damn about Québec. Carney is an English-Canadian elite from the west of the country who speaks Ottawa French (not to be confused with Franco-ON French) and hasn't had to think about Québec from the same existential way that many from Eastern Canada and the bilingual belt have.

I'd say to Carney I just gave a feeling that Québec is just the francophone province to him.

We've got the shy Tory effect on our side too. The race is much closer than it appears.

The polls seem to be correcting themselves, but remember everyone pay close attention to the regionals and methodologies.

Mark Carney’s French skills not good enough for a prime minister, say a third of Francophone Canadians
 in  r/CanadaPolitics  1d ago

None of those things change the fact that 1/3 of Francophones do not believe his French is sufficient enough.

John Ibbitson: Poilievre’s critics are dead wrong. We do, in fact, need to talk about family fertility
 in  r/CanadianConservative  2d ago

I think it really depends on the reasons behind why people might not want to have kids. The voluntarily celebate or DINK propagandists are a lost cause, but there's a whole few generations of people who want to have kids but feel like for one reason or another they can't. That doesn't even touch generations of anti-family propaganda that has convinced women their highest worth and aspiration should be a cog in the system 9-5 salary woman and fight against their own nature.

That might be okay for a generation or two but four generations into low fertility rates and we're looking at a demographic disaster where society won't be able to support itself.

There's a really good In a nutshell video on the demographic nightmare that is coming to South Korea and it really puts into perspective what we are doing to future generations.

We need to get above replace again and fast.

Mark Carney has helped Brookfield avoid $5.3 billion taxes since 2021 (Official NDP Website)

The Canadian left is selling their souls to the Liberals and sacrificing the NDP in exchange for a chance at preventing a Conservative government.

Props to the NDP on this one. This is what we need coming out of the Canadian left.

Poilievre promotes unity after ex-Reform leader Preston Manning warns a Carney win will fuel Western secession

Preston Manning could have waited til the end of the election to make that comment. Obviously a Carney win will fuel Western secession, but my God get ahead of the messaging and help PP.

The single greatest thing to me about this election cycle thus far is at what point we're seeing the total collapse of the NDP. I'm sure Jagmeet+Company are kicking themselves that they voted against having an election all of those confidence votes.

Enjoy losing party status!

Church to Mosque
 in  r/CanadianConservative  4d ago

The Church that I was baptised and did my first communion and confession is now a Sikh place of worship. Why? Because Catholics stopped attending it and the church body was amalgamated.

I'm glad that it's being maintained as a place of worship. Many Churches lost their population or are in a quasi-zombie state. I can only speak for the Catholic Church but there is a means of deconsecrating it/dechurchifying it. After that point, it becomes just a building.

Trump confirms 25% tariffs on all foreign-made vehicles to take effect at midnight

The Auto Industry is gonna hurt. By how much, it is still difficult to say. We do build some cars in Canada regardless so at minimum those are gonna get tariffed. The parts though, that's a different story and that's really gonna hurt.
