I wish people would be responsible and stop letting their cats roam around. It is dangerous for both them and local wildlife. What, so someone else can do it, self righteous self destructive action is what got us here, we need to fight that instead of embrace it. You have to realize, where there is demand, there is supply if money can be made off it. That's the true problem and taking such actions as you suggest just hurts them and helps nothing at all.

Ah, sorry for misunderstanding, thought we had entered a light debate xD. I had actually never heard of this but it's kind of along the lines I have thought about the concept of AI. We see examples of this all the time with tiered computer languages, we must work in a format familiar to us and systems need to work as efficiently as possible which is fairly incompatible in terms of pure understanding of what's happening in CPU and memory beyond a concept. Obviously there are those that understand hardware architecture, assembly, and binary very well but it does highlight how incompatibilities like that can be difficult to trace. I have always thought that if there is ever a true AI, it will be a pure accident or otherwise not manufactured directly by human minds, the latter being a pretty hard requirement for AI as the idea is perceived currently.

Yep, believe me, I'm on board with all of that and have been for a great while. I was just pointing out that, while true AI doesn't exist, language models in their current form do have their uses.  I would never blindly trust it, but it's good enough for limited applications in my opinion as I've successfully used it pretty consistently for what it is actually decent at. The reason we see no profound leaps is due to most funding and research being done with the almighty dollar in mind coupled with the absolute delusion and incompetence of those pushing for its current form as some miracle. To me, LLMs are just one part of many required to build a true AI. It's like us absorbing what we read on the Internet, we should still verify and build on knowledge with stable reasoning. This can't be done without genuine thought. With the state of the world, I am pretty glad all went have is very fallible language models.

I would argue it has it's usefulness in a productive world. In it's current iteration it can help connect the dots of information that you the ability to fill in the gaps for. It is also good for simple to extra-simple tasks. But, you are very correct, AI doesn't actually exist, it's just sensationalism directed at consolidating power. Like so many things in our civilization, it is stunted by short-sightedness.

I can assure you that 44% of us don't want this shit and Dems wouldn't have won if every voter showed up. I don't support the bipartisan system in general and see nearly every politician as corrupt and only driven by greed. That being said, you all who support a party literally tearing down what amounts to all many of you have, is an absolute disgrace.
