Found this sticker, I don't know what to think about it
 in  r/evilautism  1d ago

It's a tradwife take on Rosie the Riveter, which irritates me. But the message is the worst.

I'm wondering- can we 'take back' the jigsaw puzzle slur?

I put 30$ of gas in my car and it got me to the red circle, i drive home (which is 5-7 minutes away) and my tank is already on half. Any explanation?
 in  r/AskMechanics  1d ago

My 1977 460cid Ford station wagon got 8 mpg in town, but I once was able to coax 13 mpg by holding it at 45 mph on a highway.

So I pay less per mile now then I did in 1990 with $1/gallon gas.

I was caught until I saw your comment- I was raging against the line and setting the hook.

Much obliged, reasonable stranger!

"Don't Ask Questions, Just Provide Access"

I read DHHS- adding an 'H.' I'm tired of this circus, but I'm not going to quit trying to do the right thing for this country.

"Don't Ask Questions, Just Provide Access"
 in  r/fednews  3d ago

I was told to be very careful not to divulge company sensitive information, and to feel very free to not answer questions and just defer to my supervisor. I understand that the statute states that only the FDA commissioner- not any hhs position- can release sensitive information sent by a company, and that there's a statutory process that must be followed by the commissioner.

The first character should be for comment mark, 2-5 for the line number, 6 for the continuation character, and 7 through 72 for the code. Anything more will fall off the end of the punch card.

If it's good black licorice, it's worth picking out. If it's not good black licorice then it can stay in the jail bowl with the other food crimes.

I am fucked
 in  r/firedfeds  4d ago

I believe in the stated mission of my agency because it aligns with my beliefs. For the moment, at my unnamed agency, I'm still able to do my bit to improve the world- and I don't think my retiring would force a quicker crisis (thereby accelerating right-saning of the country) so I'll keep doing my job as well as I can.

Definitely no blame for those who focus on self preservation who aren't making the problem worse. Plenty of blame for the destructive idiots who are creating this madness.

I've seen the 'nobody' and 'somebody' form before but don't understand it. Does the 'nobody' add meaning?

Can someone explain this
 in  r/ExplainTheJoke  6d ago

Maybe in continuing education for the teachers, but not to me when I was an elementary student fifty years ago! I think I first had algebra in seventh grade.

Well, liberals do tend to have compassion for others. Proof is, I hope the one who brought the mug learns how to grieve without getting lost in their hatred.

RIF notices going out at HHS
 in  r/fednews  6d ago

That's the main NPPTL site where N95 certification happens, although they're also at Morgantown WV- I don't think everybody there can be RIF'd while still meeting 42 CFR 84 respirator approval requirements, can they?

This is awful. It's even funded through user fees, so not much money can be saved.

That song's great- I put it on repeat on a car trip and it took my spouse about an hour to realize that only a single song had been playing the whole time. One song, but oh so many genres!

What does this mean? Is this even real?
 in  r/ExplainTheJoke  8d ago

It's amazing how quickly I was able to stop my 5500lb 1970's station wagon when I was trying to coast it home and forgot about power brakes. The power assist was panic.

Pentagon police

As someone who has done lots of off-the-clock work related to my federal (civil) job without expectation of getting paid, I know it's very common. Satisfaction in a useful job well done can be very rewarding. In my work, I've contributed to improving the health of a few people, saved the people some money both in reduced government waste and facilitating the sale of cheaper yet more effective products, and created worthwhile private sector jobs making and selling those products. A lot of public servants- like me- look on performing our roles as doing public service.

As a simple example- sometimes it's more efficient and more fair to, say, correct a wikipedia science article anonymously than to go through the official channels just so I could get paid.

Probably brushing. If you add batteries it'll probably be pretty annoying, and may try to convince people that you both intentionally bought it and are incredibly pleased with it.

I wouldn't give it to a child because it might give off unsafe chemicals, but it's probably safe.
