Does experience play any part in job level and/or pay or is it just your performance?
 in  r/boeing  26d ago

In my experience, it's a mix. Those with the most experience can more likely meet the requirements for the next job level but it does seem easier to hire on at a higher level than to move up within Boeing.

I do agree that having good relationships with your managers plays a big part. They may give you more opportunities to show that you meet the level requirements or they may simply put you up for a new level themselves.

stepdad’s son wrecked my setup. need BIFL replacement under $1k
 in  r/BuyItForLife  27d ago

Check your local craigslist/Facebook marketplace for a used Steelcase Leap. I got mine for $50 and it's a tank. If you live near some relatively dense cities or suburban areas, there are likely some small offices selling off their chairs.

The V2 is a bit flimsier than the V1 but both are great. Sorry about your chair, that's awful.

Fit Check!! (Help Needed)
 in  r/rawdenim  Mar 03 '25

I will just say, for the most part, I haven't had a pair of jeans really stretch in the thighs. If you can live with it for the life of the jean and you like the fit, you can keep it. I would err on the side of caution and size up.

Bought some ONI 222 yesterday. Fell off my skateboard today. How do i emotionally recover from this😭😭😭
 in  r/rawdenim  Mar 03 '25

You should embrace it! Most of us here are just sitting at a desk or walking around the city barely making a dent in the fading process.

The whole point of well worn goods is to show the character of the wearer. Your denim is now more unique having survived a fall on a skateboard. You'll fall again and that pair will continue to reflect your life.

I may never own a home
 in  r/personalfinance  Feb 21 '25

It's easy to feel nickel and dimed but really take a look at if all of your spending and liabilities are required for you.

I think its wrong for anyone to judge you based on your income alone. You might have alimony or something that is making it impossible to save for a home. That being said, if you have that level of income and no extra liabilities, there's likely nothing else but personal spending to look at.

Do you have a big car payment? Do you have credit that rolls over every month and accrues interest? Do you have a storage unit that you haven't visited in years? These things add up to make it seem impossible.

Just the numbers alone, you make more than 1/3 of the $420K you mentioned every year. That is typically enough to buy that home.

Is this still savable? 4 months in with fin&min spray
 in  r/tressless  Feb 20 '25

My hair was similar, but more of a diffused thinning. Is it savable? Yes, will it be exactly like before? Most likely not.

Fit check
 in  r/rawdenim  Feb 08 '25

It's definitely a shrunk up look but the body length is perfection. A lot of people roll up sleeves anyways, if you can't return you can rock it!

You might also try to size swap in the buy sell trade post!

Is iPad Air m2 good for graphic designing?
 in  r/ipad  Jan 17 '25

Yes. My friend owns and operates his own graphic design firm and he uses an ipad mini sometimes. It's the designer not the tool.

More pics of samurai. Would not let me edit my last post or option to add them to thread. Hope this is okay.
 in  r/rawdenim  Jan 16 '25

A decent go between might be something like Onis or if you're willing to get stateside, Freenote Cloth/Left Field NYC. They all have modern fits and interesting fabrics.

I especially love Freenote's construction quality if it means anything :)

 in  r/rawdenim  Jan 16 '25

It's not my style either but Samurai is going to be a more interesting pair of denim overall compared to Kato. The fabric and history are unique.

Kato seems more like if you want to modernize denim. Samurai is about the recreation of the past.

I’m worried I will never afford a home
 in  r/SeattleWA  Jan 14 '25

Are you trying to convince them to quit? They're ok with the commute. They just have different values.

1 year in the jeans I made 💙
 in  r/rawdenim  Jan 14 '25

I think your leg twist is actually really cool since its symmetrical. Not sure how you did that. The jeans I buy, the leg twists in the same direction so one side has the selvedge line twisting towards the foot and the other has the inseam.

Splitting the bill?
 in  r/TheMoneyGuy  Jan 13 '25

I totally agree with budget for it. Also, have you considered saying no to the invite a few times? No need to cut it out completely, but simply saying you had other plans when they invite you a couple times a month might save you quite a bit.

Marketplace find

I purchased a vintage unlined 101-J and it is my happiest purchase in a long time. If you buy that jacket you will love it (asuming it fits).

APC New Cure H - New Start / Fitcheck
 in  r/rawdenim  Jan 10 '25

You have the build for it. These look great on you. I got them life saving thighs and I would look ridiculous lol.

Personally I would not dye them but that doesn't mean black to blue fades are that absurd. https://www.nakedandfamousdenim.com/en/sumi-ink-coated-selvedge

Apartments in federal way
 in  r/federalway  Jan 10 '25

I have only rented at Encore apartments and I was not pleased with them. The rooms are very dark and it was very difficult to find parking near my unit. I had an early commute so I figured when I got back, I would also be early. But no, I would have to park pretty far from my apartment.

They also where renovating the gym the entire time I was there so I never got to use it. I left happily and do not recommend it.

Th price of the cheapest eggs at grocery outlet…
 in  r/Seattle  Jan 10 '25

Trader Joe's in past years when eggs were pressured also had around $3. They seem to be the most consistent. I am happy to shop there for the eggs and the rest of the quality of goods.

First selvedge fit?
 in  r/rawdenim  Jan 10 '25

Perfect fit if you want a more fitted jean. Looks not too loose not too tight. Over time you'll hone in on what works best for you.

Why do people say the farmers market is a good way to save money when every one i go to is more expensive than Aldi / walmart?
 in  r/povertyfinance  Jan 06 '25

Yes, farmer's markets are no longer a place to find excess produce a farmer couldn't sell. It seems like its yet another place that the consumer is being taken advantage of.

However, if you are into specialty foods, farmer's markets are still worth checking out. I am very peculiar about grapes. I don't really know much about them I just know that I don't like the ones without seeds as much as the ones that do. The seeded ones just have greater flavor to me. Well I perused a farmer's market and a farmer who specializes in genetically modifying grapes for flavor profiles is there. Literally couldn't get that stuff anywhere else or at least not easily. Price was higher than the grocery store, but at least it was special.

Why Are Coffee Tables So Expensive?! DIY Ideas Needed
 in  r/DIY  Jan 06 '25

Depends on what's "nice" to you, but I spent about that much getting a smaller maple counter top and slapping some hairpin legs on the bottom. I finished it with poly.

Does it sound like I understand the culture at Boeing or would you say I'm off?
 in  r/boeing  Jan 06 '25

The salary thing is a bit off though I'm sure its different within different groups. We generally know people's levels and therefore can talk openly about levels. This does translate to vaguely knowing each other's salaries but that's up to the individual to discuss. I've never talked about salary to my Boeing coworkers directly, but was happy to talk about my level.

Why does federal taxes take 20% of my husband’s check but only 10% of mine?
 in  r/MiddleClassFinance  Jan 05 '25

Yes don't just diversify your investments. Diversify your tax situation so that you have flexibility in retirement!
