That makes a bit more sense as it can cover space. First hit in a combo just needs to touch as that’s your range finder, everything else should fall right into place. Basic left hook is the shortest range strike in that combination so a jab or even a (in comics) leaping strike like the gazelle punch work better to start you off. Again, this whole design is nice. I’m just a nitpicker at my core.

I love Jiraiya, he has what I believe to be the most noble death in the series. I want more people to know that he didn’t abandon Naruto.

I know the scene you’re talking about, that’s a mistranslation. He asked if he was comfortable being the one to name him, but there’s not even a word that translates (neither literally nor by intent) to godfather in Japanese. The responsibility Minato gave Jiraiya started and ended with naming his son, the localization team just translated it to godfather because it’s very similar to our western tradition of godparenthood.

The fact that people actually think Jiraiya is Naruto’s godfather when that’s a western concept and not something that was ever mentioned in the original dub. Minato named his son after a character in Jiraiya’s book with his permission/blessing. This is not the same as letting Jiraiya name him. Jiraiya had a lot of important shit going on and while it would have been nice to have him raise Naruto, he owed it to the Leaf to maintain his information network
