They remind me of a mushy mounds bar. I have been trying to find more protein filled snacks and I read that people liked these so I picked up a pack. Expensive? A little bit DAMN I'm now addicted. It's so hard for me to find good tasting protein with no peanuts present.

other Most caloric dense, filling and hopefully nutritious 500 kcal meals?

For 500 calories, what are some recommendations for the most food I could possibly eat to feel the fullest with, putting nutrition second. Simple meals too, just simple things that don’t take very long to chef up.

Today’s breakfast was Honey + Chilli Halloumi, 2 eggs, cucumber and cherry tomatoes with some bean sprouts! (There was an extra 1 calorie missing from the screenshot for 1tsp of chilli flakes)

Currently on day 10 of 75 hard, I’ve chosen 1200 calories as my “diet”, I also have PCOS and have had my REE (resting energy expenditure) tested and it is at 1492cal a day, but based of my height, weight, age and gender it should be 2086cal 🥲

other Does anyone have tips on not overeating with the munchies?

Upvotes

I am a somewhat frequent 🍃 user, and I find myself overeating by several hundred calories when partaking. It can be on high or low calorie food, it just depends on what is near. Does anyone have tips on how to avoid this or stop it while it’s happening? Thanks!

recipe Gotta love 130 Calories Naans

For naan I like using Alexandra cook's recipe

  1. For the family I subbed half whole wheat. So I made 1:1 whole wheat to all purpose flour naan. Delicious, but full calories.
  2. (For me) To adapt for fiber gourmet flour (and cut calories in HALF), I added a little extra water and around 3 g of vital wheat gluten. Tastes basically the same (pictured below), and has the wonderful softness I associate with naan. I will say the other flour naan was slightly softer.

One fiber gourmet naan= 130 calories, I had already eaten one before remembering to take a photo. I ate it with white peas curry (matar kulcha), a cup of that generally being <200 cal (did not measure it)

Tips and Tricks

  1. Wet sticky dough is FINE.
  2. Turn on the oven at 150 for 2-3 min if your house is cold and you are like me in that you need this dough to rise in an hour.
  3. Screaming burning hot cast iron pans. You can cook em how Alexandra recommends: https://youtu.be/YQnkK7NxdQM?si=XR612CvpP4l7OshT&t=118

Or my way with two! hot pans. In order to the flip and holding it over the flame upside down you need to make sure to properly wet the side of the naan thats on the pan with water. That is how it stays stuck on. Here is a video of my cooking:

I will try to use the naan dough to make a pizza tomorrow and see how that turns out, the possibilities are endless.

meal Easy Lemon Cake – 93 kcal per 3.5 oz

Ingredients: • 2 cups cottage cheese, 5–9% fat (500g)
• 2 large eggs (≈ 100g)
• 3–4 tbsp sugar substitute or regular sugar (20–25g) — I used liquid stevia, 3 tbsp
• ½ cup thick Greek yogurt (100g)
• Zest of 1 lemon
• 2 tbsp lemon juice (30 ml)
• ¼ tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp psyllium husk
• A dash of vanilla (optional)

How to Make It: 1️⃣ Blend cottage cheese until completely smooth (or press through a sieve).
2️⃣ In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with sugar or sweetener until lightly frothy.
3️⃣ Add to the cheese:
 • Greek yogurt
 • Lemon zest and juice
 • Baking soda
 • Vanilla (optional)
• psyllium husk  Mix well.
4️⃣ Pour in the egg mixture and stir until smooth.
5️⃣ Let the batter sit for 10 minutes to stabilize.
6️⃣ Pour into a silicone baking pan, 7–8 inches wide (17–20 cm), and smooth the top.
7️⃣ Bake at 338°F / 170°C (no fan) for 45–50 minutes — until golden and set in the center.
8️⃣ Let cool in the pan, then chill in the fridge for at least 2–3 hours (overnight is best).

Rant

I normally can control my hunger for the most part around my period but for some reason, it’s a couple days before my period and I am a bottomless pit. Yesterday I definitely overate since it was my birthday and today I was planning on getting back on track and once again, I feel like a bottomless pit. I have eaten so much already today lol. I know that my hunger will go back to normal and everything will be fine but I also hate having to urge to eat everything in sight (and doing it).

question How do you manage your calories when making meals for yourself and others?

For those who cook at home for themselves and others - how do you manage to portion, calculate and cook everything without it taking hours lol I’ve gotten quite good at calculating my calories when making food at home, however I often need to make meals for my husband and I and I find it a bit more labor intensive to measure my portion, make his portion, then make mine separately, especially if it’s a more elaborate meal with multiple cooking steps. Basically takes me double the time than if I had just cooked everything at once (but then if I do that I find it impossible to accurately calculate the calories of the finished product and whatever amount I have from it). Do you guys use different pots? Make meals twice (basically what I’ve been doing recently)?

Any advice welcome, thanks!

My go-to Protein Drink Recipes that taste like Dutch Bros

Lately, I have started drinking protein shakes for breakfast, and I alternate between these two drinks throughout the week. I'll list the calories and macros with it. At the moment, I am only using ISO100 Fruity Pebbles protein. Feel free to omit the sweetener and double the protein powder; in my experience, there is no need to alter the recipe if you double the protein. Also, it tastes even better if you use unsweetened coconut milk!

Cereal Milk Coffee- 150 calories

Fat- 2.5g / Total Carb 2g / Protein 26g

- 240 ml Unsweetened Almond Milk (30 c)

- As much instant coffee as you like (0 c)

-1/4 cup Water

- 1 scoop Iso Fruity Pebbles Whey Protein Powder (120 c)

- Sweetener (0 c)

Instructions- Froth water and coffee until there is only 1/3 liquid and 2/3 foam in your cup. Don't make it all into foam like you would with dalgona coffee, but use the same technique. In a different cup, mix the rest of the ingredients and pour over coffee. Add Ice and enjoy.

Fruity Pebbles Matcha - 155 calories

Fat- 2.5g / Total Carb 2g / Protein 26g

This flavor combo goes so well. If you have ever had a taro matcha, which is what inspired me for this drink, you will love this.

- 240 ml Unsweetened Almond Milk (30 c)

- 2g Matcha powder or more idc (5 c)

-1/4 cup Water

- 1 scoop Iso Fruity Pebbles Whey Protein Powder (120 c)

- Sweetener (0 c)

Instructions- Mix half of the almond milk, sweetener, water, and protein powder in a cup. Add ice. In a different cup or bowl, add the rest of the milk and matcha powder. Mix this well with a milk frother. If this does not mix your matcha well, then feel free to use a different method. For example, you can use the full cup of milk with the protein powder and then dissolve the matcha in hot water.

First time meal prepping, 530 calories and 44g protein.

Just shy of 530 calories with 44g of protein, and no compromises with flavour. I'm sure if you wanted it even lower you could replace some of the rice with something lower cal. I didn't bother measuring the 1/3 cup of mixed veg as it's pretty insignificant to the cal count.

For the rice I seasoned with soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, a bit of sweet chilli and oyster sauce. Again, all such tiny amounts that it's not worth measuring.

Chicken I did smoked paprika, dash of cayenne, garlic and onion powder, salt and thyme. Also a tiny bit of raw sugar to get better browning

Black beans are nothing special, just cooked and hit with some lime and salt at the end.

other Snacks/Bites I can open the fridge door and pull out?

Is anyone else like this? Probably a dozen times a day I go into my kitchen looking for a bite of something. I am on Zepbound and at the very beginning the food noise disappeared but it's back now, to a lesser degree. For a while I was on a kick with raw carrots but those no longer sound appealing. I used to do sliced cheese but that would be way too many calories these days. I might get a pack of string cheese and see how that goes. Sliced deli meats seem to be an okay option though I worry about the nutrition aspect. I'm thinking about opening a can of olives and putting a bowl of olives in the fridge, allowing me to grab 2-3 at a time. Peanut butter is out due to calories. Similarly with nuts. Rice cakes seem to be a great option. I've been eating a lot of those. I was thinking about making up some deviled eggs. Basically I'm just looking for suggestions. Do you have favorites that you like to grab and go? Along the same lines, do you find yourself roaming the kitchen throughout the day wanting to grab a small bite of food?

Edit: I forgot to add a couple of my favorites. Target sells cooked grilled chicken on skewers and I'll have a bite of that. I also like getting shrimp and snacking on them like a shrimp cocktail kinda.

progress I was in my deficit today for the first time!

I was busy today. Started today with two eggs and half a cup of cottage cheese for 25g of protein. Had a snack later of 20 almonds, and a ham and cheese roll up, and a date, each about an hour apart. Breakfast kept me full for a few hours. I then ate half of a buffalo chicken wrap, and i had two Justin Peanut butter cups for dessert. Stayed just under 1200! I know i need to work on fiber and making sure im getting my steps in, but it made me feel good!
