YSK some 97-01 XLE models have heated mirrors!

Upvotes

Broke a side mirror and had to replace it. Was surprised to learn that my mirrors were heated this entire time. It’s a 99 XLE. The heated mirrors turn on when you press the rear defroster, granted they don’t heat up very much but still enough to get rid of fog. Had the car for few years and didn’t know this entire time. Am i out of the loop? is this common knowledge among Camry owners??

New driver here - just got a 2010 Camry LE (75k miles) for $8k - what should I know?

I just bought my first car — a 2010 Camry LE with the 4-cylinder engine, 75k miles, one owner, and got it from a dealership for $8k out the door. I’m a very new driver and needed something simple and reliable to commute about 4 miles a day.

The car is in excellent condition inside and out. I think the previous owners were elderly and took great care of it. So far, it feels like a solid ride and I’m happy with it, but I’d love to hear from more experienced Camry folks:

What should I know about this car? - Any common issues to look out for? - Pros and cons you’ve experienced with this generation? - Any general maintenance or care tips?

Also, one small thing I noticed — the gas pedal feels super sensitive. Compared to my partner’s 4Runner and my sister’s Civic, it accelerates much quicker with just a light tap. Is that normal for a Camry?

Thanks in advance! Excited to be part of the club.

Hey everyone, I am currently interested in buying that lower dash assembly of a Camry XLE to put in my LE, which has manual climate control.

How hard or is it possible even to convert my manual climate control to automatic?

I just payed $80k for my 25 AWD SE

I know it sounds absurd but this is a car that will last me 500.000 miles and i plan on owning it forever. Instead of buying 5 $40k vehicles that will last 100k miles each i’m just buying 1 and saving over $120k in the long run.

Did i get ripped off?

Doubters Of 25 Model have your views changed?

I remember when it was launched everyone was talking how bad it looks, with or without the colored grills. and how its hybrid only, and how orices has gone up.

A year later, i believe most peoples view have changed and now accepting the hard truths and reality that the 25 model is generally the superior model in terms of Looks and mechanical (except the V6).

Shows that Toyota designers know what they doing. The 25 was ahead of it's time so people couldnt accept the look just like the stapler accords. The 8th gen is now starting to look old.

Performance wise, despite slightly heavier than the non hybrid 8ths and using cvt, it is faster, handles better around corners and has better braking power.

Fuel economy wise its the best in camry family. The new dual motor setup on the AWD further improves the handles.

We are also witnessing more people switching from the 8th to the 9th.

So what are you waiting for? Time to get the 25 Camry while tarriffs still not in place.

Today marks one year since I've owned this car and it's been fantastic, I love it so much. I've done a lot in a year, but it's slowed down since I've put on the TRD suspension back in October. So I'll share pictures along the way and each modification I've done. Oldest to newest picture order. Share your ownership journeys!

Picture 1: first day after I bought the car Picture 2: black emblem overlays + mudguards Picture 3: OEM black mirror swap Picture 4: X Series caliper covers + tint Picture 5: OEM black spoiler swap Picture 6: OEM black shark fin antenna swap Picture 7: TRD wheels Picture 8: bonus, it looked mean as fuck! Picture 9: first snow day, lowered on TRD springs for 3 months Picture 10: most recent, lowered on TRD springs for 5 months

HELP

So I got a new 2009 camry hybrid and the "check hybrid system" prompt was on so we got new oil and a battery and it worked. No check hybrid system or anything and it ran perfectly for a solid hour we took a 20min drive and everything then we turned the car off and when we went back it showed the "check hybrid system" prompt again. The car drives fine with it on even it's just sketchy so we aren't driving it at all right now. Does anyone know what could be wrong at all?

2018 Camry for 2025 Camry

I recently traded my 2018 Camry SE for a 2025 Camry LE. The customer service at Walser Toyota was great. Not too much pressure and an overall easy process. They only gave me $7400 for my trade in. I agreed because it had 182,000 miles on it. I checked the Walser website and it was listed for $14,998. Is that a normal markup? Maybe tariffs are used to justify that listing price? Seems like they took advantage of me. It was a great car and the only reason I traded is that I wanted a new car and the hybrid drivetrain was appealing. So far the new Camry has been great. I can't get over how smooth the hybrid is. I'm just a little annoyed that the stealership has it listed for double what they gave me. Anyway, if you want a decent Camry. There is one at the Walser Toyota in Bloomington MN with lots of room to negotiate.

Oil Filter Wrench for 90915-YZZD1 oil filter?

Doing oil and filter change on our 2002 Toyota Camry SE 3.0 V6, but can't find an oil filter wrench for the Toyota oil filter P/N 90915-YZZD1 (64.16mm 14 flutes). Can't get oil filter off despite removing the cover on exhaust above it. Got my fingers crossed that someone knows the correct wrench and where to buy it! Thxs!

BTW, there's P/N TOY640 oil filter wrench for $29 from an online dealer although I don't know whether it's the right one.

2019 Camry randomly unlocking

My 2019 Camry is randomly and repeatedly unlocking itself. It's like someone is sitting in the car pushing the unlock constantly. I do not have a key fob, only a remote key with a clicker so it's not that. I've changed the battery, checked the fuses, the door switch on each door is also in good condition. I have to disconnect my battery every night to not drain it. Dealership said it was a low battery (it's not!) and offered no other help.

Have the prices for the LE gone up?

I noticed a few weeks ago there were at least a few Camries sitting at 28500 give or take in the greater bay area vicinity. Now I am having trouble finding any under 31,000. Is this the tariffs already?

Question OEM Dashcam

I know everyone seems to hate Toyota’s dashcam, but I’m wondering if it is really that bad for my purposes. I’m interested in the camera primarily for liability issues. I’m handy enough to install something else but the thought of acquiring the car with the camera installed is appealing.

2016 Camry SE interior colors.

Do all SE models(specifically 2016) interior only come in black with red stitching? Curious because I came across two different sales in my local area advertised as SE, but seats were off white/tan color. Both cars were gray in color if that matters. Also visually, both had the trunk lip spoiler with SE badge and honeycomb grille.

2018 LE - steering difficulties (???)

I have only 60K so far on my '18 and about a month ago the steering went from normal to me having to wrestle the thing around like it was a 1970s Eldorado with flat tires. No "return" on hard turns in either direction -- this felt tricky (maybe dangerous) when accelerating out of a turn. A local garage (reputable) looked at it, ran some diagnostics, and -- nothing. Suggested the only way to really figure it out was to take it to the dealer since the electronic steering assist is comprised of proprietary tech that he couldn't get that deep into.

We all know the deal with dealership garages (UGH), but I made an appointment anyway. Booked out 3 weeks, of course. About 3 days ago, I went on a short errand and... it was fine. WTF? Should I just knock wood and cancel the appointment, or will this return?

[note: I have a 2014 Camry L with about the same mileage (son's car & he's in college), and it has had zero issues in this regard.]
