Question This is the only result that’s come back for celiac so far (it’s been 5 days) should I be worried? Can I start eating gf to see if I feel better or is it too early?

Discussion Banning Gluten in Construction Materials.

I would love to see a ban put into place on using gluten as a binding agent in construction materials.

We have other options to choose from.

Specifically in MDF, plywoods and wood glues for myself as I miss working with these materials due to my immune disease.

Some other products such as drywall and drywall mud can be culprits as well.

Celiac is so much more than just an allergy and we should be protected by law when it’s completely avoidable.

I’m highly sensitive and breathing it in causes me to react.

It’s also an incredibly sticky tiny particle that becomes air borne easily and is very hard to destroy.

It’s takes something like 30 minutes at 500 Fahrenheit to destroy a gluten particle.

It gets onto clothes and everything, sticking to them even washing isn’t guaranteed to remove the gluten from clothing.

Woodworking is incredibly dusty as it is, saws and sanders, for example, create large amounts of fine dust.

I have been able to work with the material using a P-100 and fully suited. It’s a massive pain.

Even with extreme caution I have still reacted by a simple mistake here or there.

We really shouldn’t have to deal with this when there are alternatives.

I was a cabinet maker and have had to completely change my life and career due to my diagnosis.

I know it heals the gut, but with the 200+ symptoms, do you think there could be other symptoms we’re still more susceptible to?

Anybody see this? What are your thoughts? Fake social media info? I would think that it’s not scientifically possible unless the oranges have compost on the outside of the peel?

Has anyone else reacted to these? I had one of the minis yesterday and immediately started having cramping and then diarrhea and bloating similar to what happens when I've been glutened.

I haven't shopped at Aldi for a while but apparently a change I missed is that these are no longer GF. They're made with cauliflower but also wheat flour. I don't know what got into me to make me check the label before I cooked it, but thankfully I didn't make the mistake. Beware!

Question Celiac testing advice

My son (17) has had gut issues for a while, back and forth to the GP, nothing done, it was just put down to an upset stomach. A month ago he had a really bad bout of stomach upset where he couldn’t eat barely anything without it causing instant violent diarrhoea, where he’d literally poop himself because he couldn’t get to the toilet on time. It got to the point where he’d refuse to leave the house because he was scared of accidents. I took him back to the GP and demanded he had blood work done to see if we could find what was wrong. All his blood work came back ‘within normal limits’, other than his celiac test which they were still waiting on. In the meantime his stomach settled a little but he’ll still have unexpected diarrhoea out of the blue which we couldn’t ever pin down to one particular food. That brings us to today when I get a call from the GP asking us to go in next week, that the celiac results had come back and they wanted to discuss it with us. Is this a big sign it’s definitely celiac disease? Or am I just looking too much into it?

I just prepared this because many people have told me they bring snacks or meds with them when they go places so i made this!

Tylenol, gluten ease, and tums and 2 granola bars and a zipfizz powder to put in a water if i need something sweet! No more waiting to get home for some relief on long road trips 🫡 And I made this because I am always back and forth from house to house which are 3 hours apart and sometimes U cant trust everything in a tiny town 😞

Discussion GF Wedding Planning

Hello all, I got my celiac diagnosis about 5 years ago (I'm 25 y old) and still trying to manage but getting along pretty well.

I'm getting married next year and came to the realization I want to have a completely GF wedding with the exception of beer (lol). I realized there is no way I can manage the risk of getting glutened if there is any glutenous food there, and it's my worst nightmare to get glutened on my wedding night.

My fiance is understanding and on board, the people who are closest to me understand, and if it bothers anyone else that much they don't have to come.

Just a friendly reminder to all of us to not be afraid to "inconcenience" others to stay healthy :) someone's annoyance is not worth the risk to compromising your health, however hard it might be. Take care out there!

Rant My brother told me I make Celiac my entire personality and compared it to his heart burn when he eats tomatoes.

My brother wanted to talk about Easter and our "toxic mother." One thing led to another and he told me not to take his "constructive" critism negatively but I make Celiac disease my entire personality, i was diagnosed on 12/31/2024.

He then continued to compare it to his heart burn he has when he "chooses" to eat tomatoes. I panicked and don't know how to stand up for myself. But I wish i did.

Now im going down rabbit holes thinking about what I should say to him. And "prove" this isnt my personality and that if he does think it is then he is in for a wild ride to actually learn who i am.

I was hoping to grow our relationship based on the conversation on Sunday, but i cant help but think its irreparable at this point.

Am i being dramatic? Im questioning everything about myself now.

No Recipe Gluten-free meat feast pizza that didn’t hold back

Post image

This coeliac-safe pizza was a total meat-fest – pepperoni, pancetta, ham, sliced sausage, mozzarella, red onion, and mixed peppers on a crisp gluten-free base.

Honestly, I’ve had some disappointing gluten-free pizzas over the years… but this one delivered big time. Crispy edges, gooey cheese, and proper flavour. No cardboard base in sight.

Would love to know – what are your go-to toppings that actually work on gluten-free bases?

Question Negative biopsy results

Upvotes

Question for those who had endoscopy and biopsies: are only 2 biopsies enough? Or did you get misdiagnosed because not enough biopsies were taken?

My son has various digestive issues all his life and constant "normal" infecrions more often and for longer than average kids. Doctors don't do anything, just diagnose him with gastritis (no gastritis found on endoscopy), costochondritis (which turned out to be a "tiny" hiatal hernia on the endoscope), and diagnosing him with "cyclical vomiting syndrome (which isn't really a diagnosis) and just saying it might be psychological "is everything okay at home and at school" (yes)

Doctors don't run any tests and dont give any refferals, and I have to do everything privately which I can't afford, and now I'm really disappointed that I paid for a private endoscopy and learned that 2 biopsies are generally not enough but the surgeon said 2 is the standard? Wouldn't even give refferals for celiac and lactose blood tests, I just don't know what to do anymore

I've ordered some online home blood tests for celiac, which if positive can mean celiac disease or other autoimmune diseases, what else can i do "myself"?

He had a private abdominal ultrasound (all clear) Generic blood tests are clear ECG is clear

I've asked for a Ct scan to look at his hiatal hernia better and check on the size but doctor refuses a referral for that because "it causes radiation" and that's that, zero care about the hernia

Question What would you do?

I'm having a bit of dilemma that I may be overthinking. Networking is an important part of my job, and in the next month I'm going out with some other employees and a couple of higher ups to a local, upscale resturant.

When the invitation was upated with the restaurant name, I went to their website and messaged them about my dietary restrictions and asked what was suitable. They replied that they would not be able to serve me since they couldn't guarantee that my food was free from cross-contamination.

Should I:

A. Rescind my spot at the lunch (con: I like these lunches and the group of people I'm going with is a good one)

B. Go and just have water/tea (con: feeling like I'm making a spectacle of myself and talking about Celiac/allergies for half the meal)

C. Go and bring my own food (con: feeling awkward. I would ask the restaurant about this first)

D. Ask the organizer to choose a different restaurant (con: feels like I'm inconveniencing everyone)

Has anyone else had to deal with a similar situation? What did you end up doing?

Discussion i’m terrified to eat now (a small rant)

i’ve had celiac for like 7 years now so i’m really used to eating gluten free and very comfortable with where and what i can eat. over the weekend, i had the stomach bug. but this wasn’t like a stomach bug ive experienced before (it wasn’t me being glutened because i ate normal foods all day) my whole body was shaking, i couldn’t sit still, my heart was racing and i lost so many fluids so fast i ended up having to be hospitalized after 12 hours of the first symptoms. luckily im home now but im TERRIFIED to eat. ive never felt like this before and i don’t really know what to do. i’ve just been eating rice for dinner and then nothing else. it’s so scary to know i have this ticking time bomb inside me that can make me feel like that again at any point.

i’ve been glutened before and have had the stomach bug before so i really don’t know where this is coming from and it’s hard to explain to people that i truly can’t bring myself to eat right now. anyways, thanks for letting me rant! i needed to get it out to people that can empathize with what’s going on.

Question Do you have other autoimmune diseases ?

Hi everyone

Diagnosed with Coeliac 2 year ago and have been feeling pretty good. The past few months though I've been getting some health issues and trying to get to the bottom of it. I know it's common to have other autoimmune conditions with Coeliac?

My symptoms: Nausea after eating, back pain, fatigue, anxiety, constipation.. All my coeliac levels are normal so I know I'm not being exposed to gluten causing my symptoms.

Any ideas what I should bring up with my doctor?

My mother also has Coeliac and Lupus..
