The sauce is exceptional... and if you go on the right day when the crust is extra crispy, very hard to beat this pie. Too many good spots in NYC, does this make your top 3 or 4?

Just got home from a dinner at Tatiana with my wife. It was my second time dining at Tatiana, the last time being a year ago. Service was fine, not incredibly attentive (inconsistent water/wine filling, reasonably friendly). The food is good…but NO WAY is it worth the price. $120 for the short rib pastrami?! Almost $60 for THREE oxtails?! The wine list is a 4x markup. It’s a complete joke. People really think these prices make sense?

I’m shocked it’s still as hard to get a reservation as it is. Food and service definitely do not merit the prices. We will not be returning. Does anyone agree or am I way off base?

Hi all! My mom will be in NYC (staying on the UWS) for her 90th birthday—visiting the last weekend in April through early May. She is not your "typical" 90-yr-old but is very active, sharp, inquisitive/open-minded, used to live in the city and visits often, so we have our go-to spots, but we’re looking for updated recs and something memorable for her big birthday dinner.

Although she lives in Vermont now, she's a seasoned traveler/foodie, appreciates high quality and/or unique experiences, and has been to many of the big-name places over the years. She’s not someone who typically gets super dressed up, but will do it on occasion as she appreciates the finer things. She will enjoy a meal that’s either high-end or more low-key—as long as it’s special and delicious, not overly pretentious or too stuffy.

We're open to any cuisine and anywhere in Manhattan. Budget isn’t a concern for the birthday night, but we want to avoid anything overhyped or sceney unless it truly delivers. Hearing is an issue so a calmer place or one where we can at least not be overwhelmed by noise is important.

So: what are your current favorite special-occasion restaurants? And if you have any hidden gems for other dinners that week, we’d love those too.

I’ll be going to the city on a Saturday in August for a 2pm Broadway show and would like to make a DTF reservation for two people before. How long does it usually take to sit/eat? Would a 12pm reservation be good to still get us to the show in time?

I love my steak with a crispy, buttery sear and a medium rare center. Not too much pepper or seasoning at all besides salt and maybe some garlic/rosemary butter. Which is the steakhouse for me?

Had a killer meal at The Snail in Greenpoint and wanted to share some thoughts + pics in case anyone’s curious about checking it out.

Arrived at 4:30 and was promptly seated when they opened at 5. Much easier to get in this time compared to February—looks like the patio expansion helped a lot. They went from ~60 to 100 seats, so definitely more accessible now.

Ham and Chips – Honestly one of the highlights. Salty, crispy, indulgent, and just a really fun way to start the meal. It’s a simple idea but executed perfectly.

Scallop Ceviche – Fresh and flavorful, but I found myself wishing it was tuna instead. Scallop was nice, just didn’t feel like substantial.

Crab Cappelletti – Delicious, bright, and full of crab flavor. But at $29, the portion felt a little light. You’re mostly paying for quality, not quantity here.

Lamb Tartare – Excellent. Great texture, well-balanced seasoning, the capers were a nice surprise.

Burger – Solid, well-made burger. But it’s so hyped up that it kind of just felt fine. Expectations might’ve been a bit too high going in.

Chocosou (I think?) – This dessert was a standout. Rich, creamy, chocolatey, and just the right amount of sweet. Would 100% order again.

Also had a couple cocktails which were delicious (and strong!)

Service was friendly but a little slow, probably due to how packed it was. Totally understandable, and I’ll definitely be back.

I do not want to go to touristy restaurants and want some input from NYC natives on where to go! Open to all cuisines! Me and the wife just had our first born and are on a tight budget. I’m trying to make a list for us to go enjoy tasty cuisine without breaking the bank. Preferably places that allow us to eat good for no more than like 20$ a person but the less $$ the better. So far I got Mee Sum cafe, wah fung, suprema provisions, the more options the better. I live in Coney Island so if it’s near by that’s a big bonus since we wouldn’t need to travel far.

I've tried it at Nai Brother, Fish With You, and Mountain House so far. in order of preference, Mtn House > Nai > FWY

It was soooo good !! Heard some pretty mid reviews but honestly I just loved it, everything was just so tasty A bit on the pricey side because I had a drink and 4 pierogis as a starter but damn it was something ! (+ I was so full in a good way at the end)

My meeting is on 49th and 3rd and I will be traveling home to Brooklyn afterwards (Atlantic Avenue) so happy to stop anywhere along the way. Does anyone have any recommendations for a solo dining spot with great food, great wine and somewhere to enjoy whilst reading a good book?

Great pizza, loved the sauce. Unfortunately once we got halfway through it lost some of its crunchiness, which is one of the downsides of NY pizza. I'll try Rubirosa next. Right now L'Industrie is still my favorite.

Had fini pizza yesterday at the Barclays (apologies for the blurry pic). And I thought it was decent but nothing special.

Had the pepperoni and the infamous white slice.

Pepperoni slice was ok. Thin crust not necessarily my favorite but it was fine. Decent taste. But nothing to write home about. Finished it in like 3 bites. Not very filling nor was it the best pepperoni slice I’ve had. Give it a solid 6.5/7.

The white slice was interesting. The look was interesting lol. Lemon zest added some acidity to it. I didn’t think it would work but it actually did. The cheese however kinda feel fake. Like it wasn’t really binded to the crust if that makes any sense. Also, the cheese was not as rich as most good white slices in the city. Give it a 6.5/7 as well cuz the taste was interesting but nothing to go crazy over.
