Little known fact, if you stay on the ground you’re actually invincible until you stand up. So the sooner you get up, the sooner the monster can damage you again. I sometimes stay on the ground as long as the game lets me.
When to get up is part of learning a monster's moveset to me. I ain't gonna play perfectly. I'm gonna take a hit because I stand in that monster's business.
Rajang is the one who really taught me that strategy. Crackhead does a 32 Exploding Palm combo and playing opossum is the only way to avoid getting smacked mid-combo.
Fr on rajang, I used this strat a lot for Kirin as well. It definitely takes some insight to know when to get back up, hell that’s how I learned about it in the first place.
I’d say about 60% of skill in Monster Hunter is pattern recognition. The other 40% is weapon knowledge, weak point knowledge, timing, and accuracy. The amount of times I’ve overestimated how long exactly the longsword is, is embarrassing lol.
