Transforming the PEI health system the conservative government way. Sick

I posted this yesterday on an old post asking about an illegal hospital blog that got the gossip blogger fired. I’m sick of everyone knowing but not saying it. It’s Christopher Gillis.!! Sick of no body calling this out. It’s The guy the conservatives appointed to a big job to Transform the health system! A poison guy when he was a deputy minister with a ton of harassment complaints and had NO qualifications except pals in premiers office and he demands a new job so they put him in a big high level job to transform the health system. The guy who not that long ago was a hospital porter who got FIRED for a poison online blog talking shit about nurses and patients! Why is this not a news story!!!

PEI in two days - home base will be Charlottown

We will be coming East on the train with a stop in Halifax. We will rent a car with our desire to see Pei. So we will take the ferry across at Caribou then hotel in Charlottetown. We will use this as a base for two days then over to Moncton with a stop at Shediac. Is there stops when we get off the ferry to Charlottetown that is a must?

How do I split up the next two days to see Pei? There will be two of us late 50's. Not much of a big hiker but would definitely take advantage of it if it is a must see...

Appreciate all the help on this. Looking forward to our Canadian adventure!

Nursing License Roshambo

I have a friend that’s an internationally educated nurse trying to get a license and a non working on the island and they’re getting the runaround. Anyone have any suggestions?

It’s coming down to you can’t get a license without work eligibility you can’t get work eligibility without a job offer and you can’t get a job offer workout a license.

This is bordering absurd.

I recently graduated from my undergraduate program and plan to work for a few years before pursuing graduate studies. I’ve been applying to positions as a Resident Care Worker (RCW) or pharmacy assistant, but every interview I’ve had has been for part-time or casual roles. Despite seeing countless job postings, especially from nursing homes, advertising multiple openings, nearly all are for part-time positions. This makes me wonder: why not hire a few full-time, permanent employees instead? Why are so many jobs being offered as part-time, especially in today's economy where it's increasingly difficult to make ends meet without full-time hours? These roles also often have unpredictable or conflicting schedules, making it nearly impossible to pair them with a second job.

Cumberland Cove Campground - Anyone know it?

I am looking for a place to purchase a seasonal spot for my small camper. I don't have kids, and OK with a quiet small park. I found this and it's fairly close to Charlottetown. I think it's been around for a long time, but I heard it changed ownership. Not sure about that. They seem to be closed right now, and will open later in the year. If you know of any other places less than an hour from Charlottetown (other than places like Holiday Haven ect) let me know. Thanks

I made the appointment at 8 on the dot pre typed out and I get canceled on. I am sick of not being able to speak or see a doctor when I need to as someone who is having trouble with my meds and health. Something needs to change because this is insane. I’m basically bedridden due to my illnesses and I’m tired of it.

Question Any recent experience with Switzer Apartments Charlottetown?

Hi everyone,

I’m considering renting at Switzer Apartments and was wondering if anyone has lived there recently or knows someone who has. It seems quite a bit cheaper than other places in the area—any idea why?

Would really appreciate any insight on what it’s like to live there. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for info on weekday buses from Summerside to Stratford. My work hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, so I need a bus that gets me to Stratford before 8 AM and one to return to Summerside after 5 PM. Can anyone let me know the bus times and where to catch them on both ends? Thanks in advance!

Question Want to move to PEI

This may sounds absurd but since I heard of Canada I always wanted to live in PEI. Don’t ask me why, I m sure it’s where I belong (at least here in Canada). I am looking for honest a based on your experience living in PEI. Please not the usual “don’t come here life is shit” blah blah blah.

I am PR of Canada since June 2024 and a single mother of 1 (3yo and PR as well) and I am currently living in downtown TO (I know it sucks). I work full time remote and my Boss seem to not mind my location as long as I am on the same time zone than them. I earn 70K a year which is OKish for TO and ON but I hate it and I want to live in peace and calm away from the city and its constant nightmare.

My questions are: - Do you think I can live decently with my current salary?

  • Are daycare easy to find and affordable or so they all have a 3 years waitlist and cost 1000$+ a month (english/french alike)

  • how much is the average cost of life on PEI (rent, utilities, groceries…)? I am talking about the stricly basics. I don’t go out often and the fanciest things I own are an 10yo iPad and a self cleaning litter

  • What is the market of second-hand cars? I won’t drive much as I will be working from home but I know in PEI you NEED a car. Is the insurance expensive? Can we park anywhere?

  • Is it easy to get access to health? Dentist, GP, Pediatrician, ObGyn alike…

  • When you travel abroad where do you go to take the plane. Do you fly from PEI and then connect to another international airport or do you drive to MTL/NB/TO ? Is it easy/doable - long/complicated

  • what I should think of or considering before moving?

  • what would be my tax situation living in PEI and working for an Ontario based company? Would I make a decent living?

  • what is the housing market like? Ideally I am looking for 2 or 3 bedrooms. (Please don’t think I am stupid, I ask because idk), Do you guys have condos like in TO fully equipped with pools/sauna and all sort of amenities? What would the rent for a 2 beds (or 3 beds) ? What are the green and red flags. What do I need to rent and be at peace. My rent here is ridiculously expensive for the tiny shoe box I live in.

  • Are the landlords fussy with pets? I have cats (3).

  • Is it easy to buy second hand furnitures/supplies on the island ?

  • What are the biggest PROS and CONS living in PEI?

I am truly sorry for all my questions but I made so many mistakes when I moved to TO . I don’t want to repeat those mistakes.

Is there any organizations who helps newcomers to settle? I heard PEI is kids’ friendly, is it true ?

Thanks a lot ! And sorry for my millions of questions!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Is it fair to say that islanders don’t want CBC defunded?

And so they are more likely to vote liberal? I mean we know that PP is pro choice. He has not said anything about having US style health care—so that’s just smear propaganda. He is talking about removing some barriers to qualify foreign trained doctors. Is it the CBC thing?

And if so, does it concern anyone that Chinese interference is happening? Today MSM are telling the identical lie that the CCP is “targeting” Carney, as if to paint him as the victim when the more appropriate word is PROMOTING.

Last question: Will this post get immediately shadow banned for wrong think? 🤔

Land Lord Issues

About 4 mins months ago we informed our landlord that we had mold on our bedroom ceiling and water dripping out of ours walls in our bedroom as well as our spare room. He effectively did nothing all winter to address the issue. Wr have to clean the mold every second day.He blamed the mold on us taking showers , mind you there was no mold in our bathroom...lol He asked us the other day if the issue resolved itself, like how?? He is is telling us that we will have to move. I should also mention that he has been trying to find a reason to kick us out for years, he never fails to mention how fast he will evict us so he can get new tenants that will pay more rent. We are at a loss what to do. We lived here for 15 years.
