Took my first dose today

I’m super anxious because I had a mild bout of acute pancreatitis in October, and I’m worried it’ll trigger it. I’m not gonna lie, I lied to the doctor and said I never had it so I could take it. But now the anxiety I’m feeling about it causing a flare up is making me regret not telling the doctor. I see my PCP next week, so I’m planning to talk to her about it and see what she thinks. Just felt the need to ramble

Does the GLP1 patches work?

I plan on going next week for my first visit to see about weightloss medication. I managed to lose 90lbs on my own, but gained 11lbs back. I've been struggling since the holidays to kick my weightloss back in gear. I've came to the realization that I need some help with the remaining weight, about 25-30lbs. My question is, should I get the patches (which are cheaper) or the shot? I'm willing to pay more money if the shot is more effective. However, if the patches do work, I'd pay the same for a 30 day supply as I would for 1 week of the shot. Any suggestions?

Mochi disruptions personal update!

I know as a new member I have been very concerned about semaglutide disruptions in light of the Eli Lily lawsuit against empower pharmacy which is one of the pharmacies Mochi used. I just wants to let any new members or potential members know that as of now, 4 days after my consultation and prescription being sent (04/01), I have receive a fed ex shipment notification for my semaglutide from Red Rock Pharmacy. So don’t stress too much about the pharmacy transfer situation, it seems they are getting it all ironed out. Good luck to everyone!

My Mochi referral code is: EDYC83

Side effect?

I had my first shot last Friday. I live with IBS and acid reflux, but I didn't have any nausea, constipation, or diarrhea there next week.

However, for the next few days, my abdominal muscles were tired and weak as if I'd had a 12-hour puke fest. It took effort to speak and my voice was shaky because my abdomen wasn't engaging enough to push out naturally. It went back to normal in a few days.

I took my second shot last night. I woke up with the same issue this morning, which makes me think it's a side effect of the shot.

Dr. Google didn't mention anything about this. Has anyone heard of this this?

I’m incredibly confused by this dosage, is it just the amount per ml increases? Or am I supposed to increase something, I’m officially on week 5 and so confused

I lost 37.2 lbs (16.9 kg) in 3 months on 0.5 from day one. The majority of the weight I lost during the first two months. 20.2 lbs during the 1st month, 10.8 lbs during the 2nd month, 6.2 lbs during the third month.

Wegovy & pregnancy

Hi all! I’m looking for honest advice and hoping someone here has been in a similar situation.

I stopped Wegovy in January because I found out I was pregnant shortly after my last injection (I was on 0.5 mg at the time). Sadly, I lost the pregnancy around week 9, and I can’t stop wondering if the timing of that last dose might have had something to do with it.

I’ve since had a D&C and want to start trying again soon. But summer is coming, and I’ve gained quite a bit of weight since stopping Wegovy. I’m really struggling with body image, and on top of that, I have ADHD, which makes it hard to control my eating – Wegovy truly helped with that.

My question is: has anyone here used Wegovy during the time when they were trying to conceive (but not yet pregnant)? Is it something you’d consider safe to use while TTC, knowing you’d stop immediately upon a positive test?

I know it’s not recommended during pregnancy, and I would of course stop as soon as I get a positive result. But I’m scared of doing something wrong again and just don’t know what’s worse – the weight gain and mental toll, or the fear of repeating past mistakes.

Thank you so much for reading.

Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea

3 weeks in and the N/V/D is becoming a real issue. I literally feel like I can’t eat without being sick. I am projectile vomiting at least once a week. I’m always nauseous or sick to my stomach feeling constantly. I have more diarrhea than ever. Please tell me this goes away! I am not the best in terms of diet all the time and I know that does play a huge part in it, but I have made a lot of changes, it just seems i can’t get past this feeling sick stage. I am also on the lowest does (I believe, I’ll double check later today).

Alcohol

So I started semaglutide last week. Definitely have seen a difference in my appetite. I haven’t counted but I’m eating probably around 12-1500 calories a day. For reference I’m 31, SW 265. In the past I’ve been able to have several glasses of whiskey in a night and feel good. Last night while with some buddies a had 2 2 oz glasses over the span of 4 hours and I felt hammered. I drink over a gallon of water a day..is this normal?

There's Still 1 Thing I Can't Give Up

Airhead Xtremes. I don't eat them all the time & I don't eat many of them but I can't give them up.

I've still lost 35 pounds and changed every other aspect of my diet. Does anyone else have an indulgence?

I will say, it is nice to at least have the self control around them now.

Sometimes I feel low and then I look…

I was having a rough time with my weight loss over the last week just because during my menstrual week I’m typically bloated and there’s a lot of extra gunk going on and I tend to put on some weight numerically. But I’m super close to 40lbs now, (37lbs) and I’m trying to push towards that goal!

Sometimes it’s hard to see the new person you are but finally I’m being noticed at work for the change and that just feels really reassuring?

Anyway…here’s the before and after!

WEIRD side effects

Curious about anyone else…

  1. Coffee/hot drinks: I don’t want it at all. I used to LOVE my morning coffee and now I force myself to drink it so I don’t get a headache (I still need the caffeine). I don’t want any hot drinks, period.

  2. SWEETS: I want sweets! I used to never have a sweet tooth and now I need something every day.

  3. Sparkling vs Still: I used to drink a bunch of LeCroixs on a daily basis. Now? I want either plain water OR have been drinking a bunch of Crystal Light.

  4. Perfume: The weirdest one is my perfume. I have been wearing the same scent for 20 years and now I cannot stand it. Smells all weird and powdery on me.

I don’t know if any of these are connected or if I’ve just ….changed. Anyone? I have been on the shot since Jan.

Reached my goal weight!

I began my journey at 245 lbs (I'm 6'1"). After 18 months, I finally reached 200 lbs. My progress was gradual, but with persistence, I achieved this goal. Along the way, I overcame my sugar addiction, developed a fondness for green tea, alleviated my depression symptoms, and rekindled my passion for fitness. I'm truly thankful for this medication and for the entire journey. It was all worth it!

Rybelsus / Mounjaro and CKD

Upvotes

People with CKD who are on either Rybelsus or Mounjaro, did you experience a drop in egfr with the medication?

In studies these medications are supposed to 'slow down the slopes of egfr' meaning they slow the progression of kidney disease. But the same studies also tell you to expect an initial dip.

  1. Did you expect an initial dip in egfr ?
  2. What dose of Semaglutide / Tirzepatide were you on?
  3. If you switched between the two, did that impact your kidney function in any way?

Odd question

Upvotes

I have restless leg syndrome-have had it as long as I can remember in childhood. It seems worse since starting sema. I wake up about 3:30 am with terrible jumpiness and can’t get back to sleep. Baby aspirin helps but lately the jumpiness is all over-in my shoulders and upper body as well as legs. Does anyone else experience this?

Starting the journey

Upvotes

I received my medication a few days ago, and I am trying to get the courage to start. I feel anxious about the side effects, and I get nervous in general about starting any medication. Would love to hear some positive stories or something to help encourage me.

The fight for access to GLP-1 medications: Who pays for one of the most prescribed medications in America? Can consumers get insurance coverage for GLP-1 medications?

I decided to put together some extensive information, research and strategies consumers can use to get access to GLP-1 medications.

I think this educational information is important considering:

  • The full retail cost of GLP-1 medications can come to more than $16,000 per year
  • Adoption of GLP-1 medications like Wegovy / Ozempic has grown exponentially over the last 5 years
  • The cost of GLP-1s are 10X more expensive in the USA than other countries
  • Access to GLP-1s in the USA via insurance / medicare can be very difficult.

Furthermore, this week the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said did not move forward with a proposal put forth by the Biden administration for Medicare coverage of weight-loss drugs such as Novo Nordisk's Wegovy.

Given there are an estimated 40 million people taking GLP-1 medications globally and tens of millions of additional people want access to these medications I think this educational information is important. I pulled information from over 100 sources for this article and summarized my findings. This article is for informational purposes only and does not constitute medical or legal advice.
