Face Gains
SW 250 CW 206 in 7 months!
r/Semaglutide • u/_akogare • 4h ago
I was having a rough time with my weight loss over the last week just because during my menstrual week I’m typically bloated and there’s a lot of extra gunk going on and I tend to put on some weight numerically. But I’m super close to 40lbs now, (37lbs) and I’m trying to push towards that goal!
Sometimes it’s hard to see the new person you are but finally I’m being noticed at work for the change and that just feels really reassuring?
Anyway…here’s the before and after!
SW: 195 CW: 158 GW: 135 Start date: Dec. 26 Height: 5’6”

I began my journey at 245 lbs (I'm 6'1"). After 18 months, I finally reached 200 lbs. My progress was gradual, but with persistence, I achieved this goal. Along the way, I overcame my sugar addiction, developed a fondness for green tea, alleviated my depression symptoms, and rekindled my passion for fitness. I'm truly thankful for this medication and for the entire journey. It was all worth it!

Curious about anyone else…
Coffee/hot drinks: I don’t want it at all. I used to LOVE my morning coffee and now I force myself to drink it so I don’t get a headache (I still need the caffeine). I don’t want any hot drinks, period.
SWEETS: I want sweets! I used to never have a sweet tooth and now I need something every day.
Sparkling vs Still: I used to drink a bunch of LeCroixs on a daily basis. Now? I want either plain water OR have been drinking a bunch of Crystal Light.
Perfume: The weirdest one is my perfume. I have been wearing the same scent for 20 years and now I cannot stand it. Smells all weird and powdery on me.
I don’t know if any of these are connected or if I’ve just ….changed. Anyone? I have been on the shot since Jan.

I’m apparently a super responder and I’m thrilled. First shot was February 9th so it’s been right at two months with my ninth shot tomorrow. I feel so good—more energy, less inflammation that’s led to my arthritis symptoms being almost nothing at all, much more confidence. Minimal side effects while being very careful to eat clean. Getting a bit of crepey skin under my jaw but drowning it with moisturizer is helping.
My goal for the next month is to eat even more protein, drink even more water, and add in more strength training days alongside my hour of daily cardio.
This is the lowest my weight has been since college. Very happy :)

I lost 37.2 lbs (16.9 kg) in 3 months on 0.5 from day one. The majority of the weight I lost during the first two months. 20.2 lbs during the 1st month, 10.8 lbs during the 2nd month, 6.2 lbs during the third month.

Not sure if it’s easy to tell in these pics but I am 46 lbs down and can really tell a difference lately, especially when old pictures pop up in my memories like the pic on the left. Picture on the right was taken today!

I decided to put together some extensive information, research and strategies consumers can use to get access to GLP-1 medications.
I think this educational information is important considering:
Furthermore, this week the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said did not move forward with a proposal put forth by the Biden administration for Medicare coverage of weight-loss drugs such as Novo Nordisk's Wegovy.
Given there are an estimated 40 million people taking GLP-1 medications globally and tens of millions of additional people want access to these medications I think this educational information is important. I pulled information from over 100 sources for this article and summarized my findings. This article is for informational purposes only and does not constitute medical or legal advice. Consult with healthcare providers and insurance professionals regarding your specific situation.

This feels bizarre for me to post because I’m not the type of person who posts on Reddit really at all or engages in online communities, or really shares anything personal about me with the Internet…
I’m 30 years old and I have been overweight for the majority of my life, but after the past 10 years wherein I lost both of my parents, my weight gain was becoming a huge problem for me and my daily life. I was starting to worry about my health in ways that I had never been worried about it before and I was honestly just really scared of what my future was starting to look like. Gaining all of this weight put me in a really bad headspace where I didn’t see myself able to lose weight or I guess like there was no way out.
On a whim in January I decided to start Weight Watchers, which was something my mom and I did when I was in the fifth grade (lol), but I didn’t really think that it would have such an insane impact on my health as it has. In fact when I joined Weight Watchers, I didn’t even think about potentially exploring GLP-1s as something they offered, but when I saw it featured in the app, I decided what the heck I’ll give it a try. That was the best decision I ever made.
I feel like now I have hope for the future. I like myself and I like the body that I’m living in again, which I haven’t been able to say for years. Semaglutide honestly has changed my life in just a few short months and I wish I had known about it sooner, but I’m so glad that I started my health journey in January and that I decided to give this a try because I was in a really dark place before this and now I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. ❤️

So I started semaglutide last week. Definitely have seen a difference in my appetite. I haven’t counted but I’m eating probably around 12-1500 calories a day. For reference I’m 31, SW 265. In the past I’ve been able to have several glasses of whiskey in a night and feel good. Last night while with some buddies a had 2 2 oz glasses over the span of 4 hours and I felt hammered. I drink over a gallon of water a day..is this normal?

Airhead Xtremes. I don't eat them all the time & I don't eat many of them but I can't give them up.
I've still lost 35 pounds and changed every other aspect of my diet. Does anyone else have an indulgence?
I will say, it is nice to at least have the self control around them now.

SW:198 CW:156 GW:140 height: 5’6 At first I lost no weight, it’s only been the last few months I’ve started dropping alot! I’m so glad I went on sema, my biggest regret is not starting sooner! These jeans were skin tight in august now they’re loose and falling 😭🤣 so close to my goal weight, taking it slow and steady!

so i may be jumping the gun here since i took my first ever shot last night (.25mg) but WOW! i still felt soooo full this morning from my dinner last night. this afternoon i thought i should probably eat a little something, so i ate TWO baby carrots - 45 mins later i puked them up. 😭
is this just because my body is adjusting? or is it always like this the day after shot days? whew!! i feel better now but that was just not fun. lol lesson learned for sure!
edit: i can’t keep anything down, not even water. :( i tried drinking a protein shake and i threw it all up 30 mins later. im hoping i feel better tomorrow.

I received my medication a few days ago, and I am trying to get the courage to start. I feel anxious about the side effects, and I get nervous in general about starting any medication. Would love to hear some positive stories or something to help encourage me.

I started at 220 in December and today I’m 165. I’m feeling so good and being able to look at these pictures side by side has helped me see the difference.

I know as a new member I have been very concerned about semaglutide disruptions in light of the Eli Lily lawsuit against empower pharmacy which is one of the pharmacies Mochi used. I just wants to let any new members or potential members know that as of now, 4 days after my consultation and prescription being sent (04/01), I have receive a fed ex shipment notification for my semaglutide from Red Rock Pharmacy. So don’t stress too much about the pharmacy transfer situation, it seems they are getting it all ironed out. Good luck to everyone!
My Mochi referral code is: EDYC83

I’m four days in and I went to eat some red meat and I had to spit it out. I am assuming a side effect can be food aversion.

Title says it! I am on a journey to heal my dopamine hit-relationship with food. Tough! Eventually I will need to go into maintenance...I want to be proactive in my healing journey right now, while sema can block the noise and help me step back and reflect. Do you feel you've REALLY healed? Why or why not? What worked, what didnt?

I just got approved and will be getting semaglutide soon. I have been reading all about it and I’m super excited and nervous. What is something you wish you knew before you started?

So last year around this time I started Semaglutide. I went from 165 to 125 in 3 months. I didn’t exercise which was never a good idea for me.
I had surgery and started birth control just before my surgery for endometriosis removal in September and noticed weight gain even on the Semaglutide. I had to stop it for a couple weeks before surgery and after. Being bed ridden for a while caused the scale to creep up and up. The birth control didn’t help my appetite either. By January I was 140 lbs and February 160 lbs.
I’ve started it again since then and I’ve lost only 5 lbs. I’m on 0.5mg. When I first started Semaglutide I never went past 0.5mg because I lost so much weight so fast. I’m exercising and eating healthier as well this time around. But seeing little to no changes. I’m no longer taking birth control either. I stopped it in November.
Has anyone had success on their second time around? I feel discouraged!!

People with CKD who are on either Rybelsus or Mounjaro, did you experience a drop in egfr with the medication?
In studies these medications are supposed to 'slow down the slopes of egfr' meaning they slow the progression of kidney disease. But the same studies also tell you to expect an initial dip.
