I plan on going next week for my first visit to see about weightloss medication. I managed to lose 90lbs on my own, but gained 11lbs back. I've been struggling since the holidays to kick my weightloss back in gear. I've came to the realization that I need some help with the remaining weight, about 25-30lbs. My question is, should I get the patches (which are cheaper) or the shot? I'm willing to pay more money if the shot is more effective. However, if the patches do work, I'd pay the same for a 30 day supply as I would for 1 week of the shot. Any suggestions?

I’m super anxious because I had a mild bout of acute pancreatitis in October, and I’m worried it’ll trigger it. I’m not gonna lie, I lied to the doctor and said I never had it so I could take it. But now the anxiety I’m feeling about it causing a flare up is making me regret not telling the doctor. I see my PCP next week, so I’m planning to talk to her about it and see what she thinks. Just felt the need to ramble

I’m incredibly confused by this dosage, is it just the amount per ml increases? Or am I supposed to increase something, I’m officially on week 5 and so confused

I have a customized glp-1 plan with Hers that started me at .15, then to .3, .5, .7 over 17 weeks. I am thrilled with the reduction in anxiety and food noise and my 25 year battle with alcohol was over within days of my first dose. For that alone, I want to stay on. I’m perimenopausal and have gained 15 pounds in the last year and a half that seems to just love on my belly now. I’m 5’5”. I have minimal side effects, normal appetite, and have lost just 4 pounds in 10 weeks while working out and eating in a slight deficit prioritizing protein. I checked in with my Hers care team and they said to exercise and eat protein. 🤷🏻♀️ I decided to titrate my dose up slowly by .05-.1 per week to align a bit more closely to the “standard” dosing. See pic of what I’ve taken. I realize I need to be patient, but I’m second guessing myself now that moving up slowly may be hindering the impact. I’m so grateful for this drug and this forum. Thank you for the support.

Are other folks noticing that they are less motivated to do activities (pretty much all types)? Is this the semaglutide or unrelated? I don't feel fatigued, tired, or depressed. However, when I get off of work I pretty much just want to watch TV, which is not at all usual for me. I'm having a hard time "making" myself work out, call friends, do projects, etc. I also am not keeping my house as clean/tidy as I typically do (still very clean, but noticeably less). I know it sounds like depression, but I don't feel depressed. I'm sleeping fine and don't feel fatigued. I'm losing weight at a very gradual rate (~0.5lbs/week) and no other side effects. On the maximum dose of semaglutide and been taking it for 12 weeks.

Has anyone had luck getting approval through insurance? I have a doctor’s appointment Tuesday but the research I’m doing seems to say it’s hard to get doctor/insurance approval. Any input or experience you have would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Like a majority of people, I have had a lot of nausea on Wegovy. I thought this short podcast episode on practical tips and strategies for combating nausea while on GLP-1 could be helpful.
Nausea is not fun!
GLP-1 Medication Nausea: Management Strategies and Tips
The episode extensively explores the common side effect of nausea experienced by 50% of individuals using GLP-1 medications for type 2 diabetes and weight loss.
We explain why nausea occurs, detailing the medication's impact on gastric emptying and brain signaling. The sources offer a range of management strategies, including dietary adjustments like eating smaller, bland meals and avoiding trigger foods, as well as lifestyle modifications such as prioritizing hydration and rest. Furthermore, they discuss over-the-counter and prescription remedies, such as ginger, peppermint, and antiemetic drugs, while emphasizing the importance of consulting healthcare professionals for persistent or severe symptoms.

Hello all!
Just started Rybelsus tablets earlier this week - 3mg/day. Following all the instructions, taking it the moment I roll out of bed with minimal water, waiting 30 min for coffee/breakfast!
Excited to see what this does in the long term, but I wanted to ask folks here — how long did it take to start physically feeling any different in terms of hunger?
I fully understand everyone is different, but I am on Day 4 & feel like my hunger tendencies haven’t changed one bit. Just wanted to make sure that’s normal :)
I exercise almost everyday, usually hit about 100g protein intake per day.
Thank you all!!

Hey all! I am 29y.o. 5'8" with a starting weight (Left picture) of 271lbs back in December and as of today (Right picture) I am 245.2lbs. I also had a baby just over a year and a half ago. When I first started this journey back in December I dropped 10lbs in the first month and thought this was going to go so fast, but in recent weeks I have slowed down to an average of 1lb per week give or take. Granted I am more relaxed with my calorie intake now (I used to be strict about 1600 and became obsessive so I stopped), i still try to get 90gms of protein in per day and i exercise 4-5×/week. I'm currently on 1mg and sometimes I feel like this is going to take forever to get to my goal weight...but then I look back at my starting point and remind myself of how far I've come. It's definitely a marathon, not a race! Take the pictures people, i know it's hard but it's a good reminder!

I'm looking to change providers and was wondering how the intake is and if they do a face to face consultation? I'm wondering how they have been with everything going on with the FDA. Delivery times and such.
Any and all insight is greatly appreciated!!

I did some research on what company to purchase semaglutide from, I have about 30lbs to lose. I decided on a company based on positive reviews and price etc. I went through the questionnaire, and was told to put in my card info to hold my place for what I assumed was a zoom call with a dr or nurse practitioner. But they ended up just approving me based on my answers, charged my card and sent the meds. From stride pharmacy. I’m not complaining or anything, this is what I wanted.. just a little off putting. I’ve never been on a glp1 and a little concerned about side effect etc? Anyone else experience something similar?

After a year off of sema, I’m back on the wagon for the last 20lbs I need to lose. I forgot how horrible this is. Barely slept last night from the nausea. Woke up with a killer migraine. I took a Zofran which helped immensely but head is still killing me. Give me all the tips because I don’t remember being this nauseous last time. Thank you!

I've been on the max dose of Semaglutide for about year now. The past 3 weeks, by Friday, I get the WORST sulphur burps. They last for a few days. It's like I'm farting from my mouth! I take 40mg omeprazole daily for acid reflux. I'm looking for a solution. It's so embarrassing when I'm taking care of my cancer patients. And my fiance is turned off by the foul odor.

I’m wondering how people who already deal with depression and anxiety have been doing while on semaglutide? Have your meds been less effective? Big mood swings and irritability? Bad dreams?
I’m unfortunately experiencing all of the above now on my second week.

38/M/6'1". SW: 317lbs CW:307lbs
I've always been a relatively active person (powerlifting 4x per week) but have always struggled with losing the extra fat that I carry. My doctor suggested starting semaglutide early last year and after a lot of deliberation, I decided to give it a shot at the end of October. I remember the effects hit instantly just hours after the first shot. I've always been able to put away a lot of food, but that noise just disappeared and I found myself not finishing my meals, or snacking, or anything else. The first few weeks were great. I lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks but after that, it just stopped.
I went through the dosing progression (albeit a bit slower than normal) and as of last week I'm currently on 1.7mg/week. While I definitely eat significantly less than before (and going from daily drinking to maybe drinking alcohol once per week), the weight still hasn't budged in almost 5 months. I spoke to my doctor and he mentioned that some people don't respond as well to Semaglutide and have better luck with tirzepatide. He wants me to continue for a few more months and reach the full dose of 2.5mg until we decide to make the switch. I'm curious if anyone else has had similar experiences with the medication.
Also, I should say, there were some definite benefits since going on the medication. My cholesterol, triglycerides, APOB, and glucose were all a bit elevated before starting and now they've gone to normal levels. I don't religiously track my macros, but I'll do it for a week or two at a time and it's definitely almost half of what I was eating before. 1800-2000 calories at the very most per day.

I'm just finishing week two on sema, I've lost 15 pounds so far. I'm sure it's mostly water weight. I'm a big guy. Started 360 now 345. I'm not hungry at all and decided to skip a meal yesterday. My typical eating schedule is at 3pm I eat whole wheat toast, 2 scrambled eggs and 2 chicken sausage links and half an apple or a few strawberries. Do a little boxing on the heavy bag. Do a very light weight lifting. I don't know if I'm doing the Sema thing right. Should I be skipping meals when I eat so little already?
r/Semaglutide • u/Better-Guava1923 • 1d ago
Hi all, Who has made the switch from Sema to triz? What was your circumstance like?
I have lost about 70lbs on Sema, in 8 months. The last 2 months I’ve been at the same weight. I’m on max dose of Sema. I still have about 15-20lbs left to lose.
Any suggestions or advice? I work out and eat well. I’m just frustrated the scale has stopped moving.
Thanks!

4 weeks in on semaglutide and no weight loss actually may have gained 3 pounds .
Work in Florida heat , directional drilling 15 hour days digging and vigorous work and still not losing weight. 335 at start 338 currently. Eating normal changed some bad eating , but also dealing with extreme fatigue and short temperament … should I be concerned or do I let it run the course. I’m using life Md program,

I started at 238lbs in late Jan and now starting month 3, I'm down almost 20lbs to 219lbs (5'11 guy). Right now I'm at a dose of .75mg.
I set a goal weight of 205lbs, which I'm still ~15lbs away from. It's been 10+ years since I've been the weight I am today, which feels great. I haven't been under 200 since I was like 19.
But the belly, the sides, some missing definition, are all things I guess I thought would be noticeably better with 20lbs off.
I'm 2 belt sizes thinner at the waist, and have also upped my protein intake and gym regularity, so I'm assuming I'm packing on or re-growing muscle.
But I thought it was funny how much we tell ourselves "It's just 10-20lbs of fat" when it actually turned out to be 40-50lbs.
I've since updated my goal to 185lbs and am amped every day to weight in and add a data point to my renpho scale.
For those that lost big - did you notice the same?
