I 22M was even toned until around 12 years old, then I started playing outside in the sun averaging 5-6 hrs a week. Instantly from the very start I went out in sun I got crazy dark. The body parts that were exposed to sun got infinite shades darker. It never back to the original tone even after a decade with almost zero sun exposure to some of the tanned parts. And also I always had really dark elbows and knees even as a kid. Include dark butt and underarms. So I think I'm extremely prone to hyperpigmentation. I m so insecure to wear sleeveless clothes in gym coz of this uneven skin tone. Half of body is entirely in different tone. Hell even going bald would be looking weird asf coz my head would look so much whiter than my face. I got the weirdest skin in this whole world with so many issues. Is there anyway I can get back to atleast half my original skin tone? Laser is considerable if there's no other options.

Not able to see a derm at the moment so seeking some advice from strangers on the internet, of course. Perhaps someone had a similar experience! Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share some intriguing research findings I uncovered about natural ways to support skin health. After spending many hours diving into the science behind infrared light, I learned that the golden hours—sunrises, sunsets and even fire (campfire for example) —emit infrared wavelengths that may aid in skin regeneration and anti-aging.
There's a 2006 study in the Yonsei Medical Journal that documented the effects of infrared radiation on skin photo-aging and pigmentation, showing incredible results for cell regeneration. It’s fascinating that infrared isn’t exclusive to expensive therapy devices—it’s naturally present in the light of the rising and setting sun, much like the warmth we once experienced sitting around a campfire.
I created an immersive cinematic video exploring these concepts, combining scientific insights, stunning visuals and original music. I included a before and after photo from this research (around minute 4) to visually demonstrate these benefits. However, I don’t feel comfortable posting the link here, as it might be interpreted as spam. If you're curious about the full details, please feel free to reach out, and I’d be happy to share it with you.
Disclaimer:
This isn’t advice or a product promotion—just sharing my research findings in the hope of sparking curiosity about the healing power of natural light. Of course, always consult your dermatologist before making any changes to your skincare routine or exposing yourself to infrared light from sunsets, sunrises, or campfires.
I hope these insights add a new perspective to your natural skincare journey. Please share your thoughts or experiences—I’d love to hear if anyone else has explored these ideas.
Thanks for reading and take care!

I am so upset. It makes my life so much worse. Every sunscreen I have ever tried has given me pimples. I am someone who has never struggled with acne until I started trying to protect my skin from the sun. It makes me feel like wrinkles when I'm older is a better alternative to horrible skin while I'm young. I wear a hat every day instead and it makes me sad that I will have to wear a hat and sunglasses every day for the rest of my life. Sometimes I cover my entire face. I want to be able to feel pretty or fix my hair or sit by a window without the shades closed.
I recently tried Skin1004 hylu-cica water fit serum and loved the texture because it doesn't have the greasy feeling of other sunscreens, but it gave me pimples after wearing it two days in a row and it broke my heart. Is that sunscreen waterproof? I am thinking if it is then I need one that is not waterproof or something to make it not so clogging.
I want to use tretinoin or something to clear up my acne from all the sunscreens, but I need to find a better sunscreen first, so that I don't do extra sun damage. Dermatologists are no help. I ask them if it is possible that I could never find one that works for me and all they say is "no. impossible. you MUST wear sunscreen." and then they sell me a new, expensive sunscreen that also gives me acne and then I hand over the co-pay feeling so angry at doctors and the world. I am so frustrated and defeated. It has been 5 years. I don't know how much more I can take. Should I give up?
TLDR: Sunscreen has made my skin worse rather than better. I love the texture of Skin1004 hylu-cica water fit serum, but it gives me acne. Can you recommend a Japanese or Korean sunscreen that lives up to its SPF claims? (maybe not waterproof? Would that help the acne?)

Hi Reddit brainstrust!
I am based in Australia, and drive around the whole day, I have read up that the front windscreen of cars blocks almost all UVA and UVB rays. I also have ceramic tinting on my car windows that is apparently UPF50 rated (but I could not find the material datasheet on it - am in the process of doing so).
Should I still wear sunscreen and reapply it every 2 hours? I find it cumbersome to do so (3 times a day, every weekday) and do not really like the sensation of sunscreen on my face, which is also prone to acne.
Any other suggestions to reduce risk of sun damage? I wear a watch every day on my left hand, and there is definitely a tan line there, so I am not sure if that means that whatever UV rays the tinting and windscreen is meant to block out are still coming through, or am I getting the tan through other means.

Hi everyone! I’m 20F with very dry skin and currently stabilized eczema. My skincare routine is pretty simple but has been working well for me so far. I double cleanse at night using the Biore oil cleanser followed by a gentle face cleanser, and I use the Cetaphil moisturizer + cicaplast whenever my skin feels particularly dry . In the morning, it’s just moisturizer + sunscreen.
At night, I usually use a glycolic acid serum—and while I’m not unhappy with it at all (my skin has been clear and smooth), the bottle’s almost done and I’m wondering if I should make a switch. I’ve used a retinoid in the past and had good results (no irritation, skin felt firmer and more even), so I’m considering replacing the glycolic acid with that.
Also, I’ve been thinking of adding vitamin C back into my morning routine. I’ve used it before and really liked the results—my skin felt more firm, had a nice natural glow, and my makeup lasted longer. But I keep seeing people say it’s kind of a scam or that it oxidizes halfway through the bottle and becomes useless. Is it worth it?
So, a few questions:
- Should I swap my glycolic acid serum for a retinoid, or is that unnecessary?
- Would adding vitamin C back into my routine actually help, or is it a waste of money?
Would love to hear your thoughts, especially from anyone with dry or eczema-prone skin. Thanks in advance!

I have never known anyone personally who has used this line. I know quite a few celebrities use it but just wondering if there’s anything from the brand that has wowed you or that justifies the price point.

hi! i wanted some advice on this. yesterday i shared a drink with a close friend via straw, and later on they revealed to me they think they have a cold sore (they covered it up with a pimple patch and i thought it was pimples). but later that night, i was plucking my mustache hairs as well, and also i have been using new products in my skin care routine. i woke up this morning with a red circular splotch on my upper lip where i circled, i put cream on it and a pimple patch and the redness died down, but i feel like i see a bump on the edge of my lip. so the question boils down to, is it a cold sore, irritation from my mustache plucking, or a breakout? it doesn't hurt or anything, at least not yet. thank you in advance!

Hey I’m 18m and struggled with this since I was about 9/10. I’m not overweight and my bmi is healthy.
I sweat a lot and maybe that’s why, but basically the palms of my hands always feel really tight, like the skin is too small for my hand if that makes any sense. When I stretch my fingers and palm it’s super uncomfortable and my fat cells are shown in small white and red patches all over that run up to my fingers . Even when I’m not stretching they are visible. Please help!

Curiosity won and I tried to booty lotion. It's thick, doesn't absorb and it does the same thing any lotion twice a day would do but this is not the product I was reviewing. It came with some body mist that was actually very nice. It was like a lighter, slightly melon Abercrombie scent.
They kept sending me these email so I finally took the bait and gave them a review. LOOK at the bait and switch with the insult of "we keep our promises". $15 off is not the same thing as 15%

I’ve noticed i’ve been breaking out quite badly around the chin area on both sides of my face. I do occasionally get some bigger ones or similar to those on my chin on other places on my face.
I haven’t really tried doing much as i have no idea where i could start and what i could do.
Does anyone have any clue what this could be? And what i could do or try to get rid of them?

I never had acne in my life. Always clear skin . I don’t know what these red spots are. I use a cleanser sometimes and a moisturizer once a day.
Please help!

Does anyone know of a good European sunscreen with a high PPD rating that can be found in the US?
I used the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen for a while, but I read that European sunscreens offer a higher level of protection. I bought the Eucerin advanced hydration sunscreen from Target today, but I’m not sure if it’s the same as the European formula and I don’t know the PPD rating.
If anyone has any recommendations for high PPD European sunscreens under $20 that are available in the states, I’d really appreciate it because I’ve been googling for days.

Hello everyone, I have recently bought new skincare because i feel like i have a lot of discoloration (i feel as if i’m brown, pink, white, tan, yellow, all at once) and acne scars on my cheek that won’t go away. (Last photo)
My routine at night is the -peroxide blue bottle thing - used to be cera ve, switched to this rice korean one brighter for home (spring break, college) (picture) -annua toner - blemish pads - cera be moisturizer because the rice one was drying me out.
the morning: -just the rice korean brightner and cera ve lotion.
I have broken out a lot and i’ve been feeling so ugly. i’m getting them in places i haven’t before (chin, forehead, neck, NOSE) instead of my default places being my cheeks.
Is it me? is it my new routine? is it any of the products? what would you recommend me? what is wrong with my skin frankly? Any help is appreciated :(

Ive had bumps like these for awhile. I thought it might be an allergy but i am unsure:///
I am currently using the following since my breakout: 1. Cetaphil cleanser 2 Avene tolerance moisturizer 3. Centella Sunscreen
Before this i was using paulas choice AHA/BHA, the ordinarys retinol, Kopari moisturizer and prequel salicylic acid cleanser. Loadsss of actives…i know
I suspected it was the moisturizer since it was relatively the newest product i was using. I am nervous to start using actives again but i need to bc i have very (sensitive) and acne prone skin. I have been told about differin. Thoughts?
any help is greatly appreciated:)

I’m a 37f with acne prone skin. I’ve been using Frownies on my forehead for months now and I’ve recently developed these small bumps on both sides of my forehead. They don’t appear to be pimples or blackheads. Do you think they are caused by the Frownies? Any tips on how to get rid of them?

I need help with a skin care routine
I’ve always had clear skin, so even though my skin isn’t necessarily “bad” it’s still unusual and it’s causing me to have very dark thoughts, if you know what I mean. In the first slide, i have some post acne spots and those have been there for maybe 3 months. In the second slide i need help identifying whether or not those are pimples or bumps. I’ve been getting them on my chin too and sometimes on my cheeks and forehead. They’re very small and there’s not too many but it has made me look very dirty. I will admit that I’m severely depressed. I don’t wash my face everyday and I don’t use the right routine everyday. I need advice. Should I stick to a normal skin routine or should I go to a dermatologist. Can someone help me out with a routine ? I don’t want to waste my money on shitty products. I have normal to dry skin. My skin looks best when I use la roche posay cleanser, a toner like Paula’s choice or something of the sort, spf and a moisturizer. But again, I’m very inconsistent. Should I be doing this routine twice a day ? Should I add something else ? Please help!! I don’t want to feel like it’s the end of the world. I’m 19 and I just want to have a fresh super clear face.
