Selfie/B&A [Before&After] hopefully this helps at-least one person struggling with acne 🙏🏽 Spoiler

So I suffered from terrible acne for about 5 years and have been clear for about 2 now. The main thing we always do it focus on the outside when the problem really comes from within. I tried just about everything except acutane to clear my face and NOTHING worked. I also compete in mixed martial arts so l knew I had to find the root problem if I ever wanted to be clear. So after HOURS and HOURS which lead years of research, trial and error I finally found a remedy that worked for me and maybe it can work for you so here it is (IT STARTS IN THE STOMACH!!) Fyi- Only product I use on my face at this point are noxema for the wash and hylaluronic acid ( vitam cte serum) to get my complexion back even. Twice a day

  1. Everyday I eat a Kale supersalad (sold at Walmart, has tons of vitamin properties to keep gut health good)
  2. Prebiotic/Probiotic supplement < THIS WAS THE GAME CHANGER. ( Prebiotic and probiotic supplements are good for acne because they help balance the gut microbiome, reducing inflammation and promoting healthier skin by improving digestion and supporting the body's natural defenses against acne-causing bacteria.
  3. Omega 3 supplement (Omega-3 fatty acids are good for acne because they have anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce ski inflammation, regulate oil production, and support overall skin health, decreasing the occurrence of acne
  4. SLAM A JUG OF WATER EVERRY DAY ( plus cutting sugars

Those 4 things over the past 2 years have kept my skin pretty clear considering the facts my face is rubbed and grinded 5 days a week and soaked in 20+ other peoples sweat on a daily bases If you have any questions about the exact items/ brands I use please please please feel free to Dm and keep your freaking head up Remember topicals are like putting a band aid on a gapping wound, you gotta get to the actual cause of the acne to really defeat it Posted a few pics of before and after for you guys

Sun Care [Sun Care] I am DESPERATE. Can someone please help me find a Japanese or Korean sunscreen that might not break me out and has a texture similar to Skin1004 hylu-cica water fit serum and lives up to its SPF claims?

I am so upset. It makes my life so much worse. Every sunscreen I have ever tried has given me pimples. I am someone who has never struggled with acne until I started trying to protect my skin from the sun. It makes me feel like wrinkles when I'm older is a better alternative to horrible skin while I'm young. I wear a hat every day instead and it makes me sad that I will have to wear a hat and sunglasses every day for the rest of my life. Sometimes I cover my entire face. I want to be able to feel pretty or fix my hair or sit by a window without the shades closed.

I recently tried Skin1004 hylu-cica water fit serum and loved the texture because it doesn't have the greasy feeling of other sunscreens, but it gave me pimples after wearing it two days in a row and it broke my heart. Is that sunscreen waterproof? I am thinking if it is then I need one that is not waterproof or something to make it not so clogging.

I want to use tretinoin or something to clear up my acne from all the sunscreens, but I need to find a better sunscreen first, so that I don't do extra sun damage. Dermatologists are no help. I ask them if it is possible that I could never find one that works for me and all they say is "no. impossible. you MUST wear sunscreen." and then they sell me a new, expensive sunscreen that also gives me acne and then I hand over the co-pay feeling so angry at doctors and the world. I am so frustrated and defeated. It has been 5 years. I don't know how much more I can take. Should I give up?

TLDR: Sunscreen has made my skin worse rather than better. I love the texture of Skin1004 hylu-cica water fit serum, but it gives me acne. Can you recommend a Japanese or Korean sunscreen that lives up to its SPF claims? (maybe not waterproof? Would that help the acne?)

Acne [acne] shoulder acne Spoiler

Post image
Upvotes

Hi! Anyone know what type of acne this is? I always have persistent deep, painful bumps. Its not many but i always have at least a couple only on the back of my shoulders and they rarely come to whiteheads, they just stay inflamed and eventually die down and leave a mark.

Ive tried BPO, SA, nizoral, sulfur, zinc cream, and none of those worked.

Im currently using glycolic acid and azelaic to help with the PIH but i havent figured out a solution to help with the exisiting bumps.

Ive also cleaned up my diet and stopped eating dairy last week, not sure how quickly that helps clear it up for others if thats the reason but will monitor. I change my pjs often, wash my sheets often, dont sweat much, and wash my body after i shampoo. I dont use conditioner either.

All help is appreciated! I def plan to go to a derm if it doesnt clear within another few weeks. Thanks!!

Sun Care [Sun Care] Biore Aqua Rich surprise - found at a random wholesale store in Orange, CA

Found at CostLess Wholesale in Orange.

I rarely find this in a physical store here in the US. I usually pay at least double at Shabuyala or online. Sharing here for others in the area and maybe keep an eye out at your local wholesaler in case they are reformulating or rebranding again soon.

Product Request [Product request] best eye cream for thin purple under eyes

I have very dark purple under eyes, it’s been like this my whole life, so is likely due to thin under-eye skin. Hence I know my dark under eyes are not due to lack of sleep or extra pigmentation. Most eye creams seem to be marketed to decrease puffiness (I need the opposite) or to brighten the under-eye from pigmentation. I assume I would need an eye cream that will build up my thin under-eyes and decrease the hollowness that makes the purple vains visible.

I have also just started wearing contact lenses as opposed to glasses which I had worn my whole life so I am now extra conscious of my under-eyes as I feel they are more exposed.

Does anyone have a suggestion for an eye cream that would help?

Miscellaneous [MISC] Had local anesthesia for dental work—now dealing with weird skin reaction. Anyone else experienced this? Spoiler

Post image
2 Upvotes

For a disclaimer I am 24 yrs old female recently had my teeth deep cleaned and filling. The dentist injected local anesthesia in my gums and the whole procedure was painless. After few hours of procedure i started having itchiness around the side of my cheeks where the procedure was done and not long after my whole face started to flare up with these red bumps and itching everywhere. I did talk with my provider and she suggested to take antihistamine which did helped for itching but not the bumps all around my face. I also changed my moisturizer not too long before my procedure but it was okay until after procedure. I am so confused about how it happened cause i had lidocaine before without any of these concerns. If anyone has been through same thing or know what i should be doing please let me know. I am so worried to even go out of my house.

I’ve had acne for a good majority of my life & it never seems to ever go away- i also have a lot of redness on my face! I live in socal for school & the Bay Area for summers if that helps. I just started this routine about a couple days ago and just want advice on if these products are right to use or just in the right order overall. The photos go in order AM, PM, and list of what I use from right to left order.

Product Question [product question] does bio-oil actually work for stretch marks?

Upvotes

hi everyone, i'm a young teen and recently went through a bit of a random jump. i gained weight and it seems like my figure filled out more in a quick few months, leaving me with many stretch marks on my upper thighs, bum, and hips.

so i have adopted a routine of religiously moisturizing every single day, and applying retinol every 2 days. i started like 2 weeks ago on retinol so not much results yet.

my question is, does bio-oil really work? i want my stretch marks to speed up in the fading process and a lot of people have recommended bio-oil to me, saying it effectively faded their stretch marks.

whats your guy's experience on bio-oil on your stretch marks? thanks!

Acne [ACNE] How the hell do you get rid of dry acne prone skin??

Everything I’m reading online of how people cleared their acne/CC texture is through topicals and treatments that are all inherently drying. I’m talking tret, spiro, accutane, differin, frequency wands, niacinamide, etc. My skin is extremely sensitive and dry yet acne prone with CC and blackheads, which I don’t understand how my pores keep on getting clogged if my skin is barely moisturized. Yet if I moisturize more I full on breakout.

I tend to get flaking on my skin paired with dozens of little CC bumps that seem to only go away with completely drying out my skin. Yet after a few weeks of drying out my skin I get these red irritated patches of skin so I switch to a gentler routine and the bumps increase again. It’s like a hell loop i’m stuck in. Even the “gentle” Vanicream cleanser started drying out my skin within a couple weeks. Been to several derms but it seems like a waste of money at this point because everything they can prescribe is just going to dry out my skin to the point where it hurts to even open my mouth with how tight it is. Please I need help or advice!

Routine Help [Routine Help] 24M Looking for suggestions in changing my routine? I have a Combination type ( nose and forehead oily but rest dry) Spoiler

I've been using this skin care plan for past 2 months. AM - Nevlon Acne Soap, Minimalist Vitamin B5 Moisturizer, Minimalist Sunscreen SPF50 PM - Minimalist Salicylic Acid Facewash, Minimalist Vitamin B5 Moisturizer, Minimalist Sunscreen SPF50 Not sure what to change in this to make these spots go away. I've tried Tony Moly Eggpore mask once that didn't help either. Do I need some sort of procedure by dermatologist? I did a chemical peel 2 years ago that's all.

l've tried regular Gillette razors, safety razors, the one blade and it always gets like this. I have eczema so maybe that affects it but I wear cerave moisturizer every day and an acne medication called adapalene. I always make sure I shower or warm towel beforehand and I use after shave or moisturizer after. The only time this is minimal is when I don’t shave for like 4 or 5 days but I hate having facial hair.

Acne [ACNE] Random Patches of Acne for a couple of days then goes away Spoiler

Upvotes

Hi! I’m hoping someone can relate to this on here and help me out. I (28 F) have been getting this skin condition since i was around 22. Every so often, i get these patches of acne on my forehead into my scalp, under my chin, and all down the side of my face. It occurs in the same exact spots every time and more often than not it’s around my period. This only lasts 1-4 days at most and it’s often accompanied with minor cold symptoms like a nasal drip, sore throat, etc… Every time i have made an appointment to see a dermatologist I don’t end up having the acne and they say pictures aren’t enough. If anyone experiences anything similar please let me know. It’s not dry or itchy but if i scratch it they typically flake off or bleed. they pop when touched. and it’s never left any sort of scaring.

Acne [Acne] 33, oily skin. Regimine help?

I need help!!!! I'm a 33 F who has had acne my whole life. I get hormonal acne on my cheeks before I get my period, but my forehead and cheekbone area are covered with what appears to be closed comedones.

I wash my face morning and night with: -Differin facial cleaner -then tone with 2.5% salicylic acid -then I apply Neutrogena on the spot 5% benzoyl on my face

Then I continue with my makeup routine (SPF foundation). I have super oily skin. I have to blot it every couple hours because of how shiney I get.

I also exfoliate with beauty of joseon apricot peeling scrub about once a week.

Am I using too much harsh products on my face? Should I just restart? I'm worried after reading some posts that I may have messed up by skins barrier but I don't know what to do.. any help is so appreciated!

Routine Help [Routine Help] Damaged Skin Barrier?

think I have a damaged skin barrier, and wondering how long it will take to repair it. For a few weeks now I’ve been dealing with very dry skin and redness, along with tiny red bumps on face. For a few months I’ve been trying skin cycling, where one night I do retinal, one night a BHA, and then hydrating nights of just moisturizer in between. I also use a milky toner and snail mucin in the morning. How long should I wait before introducing my BHAs and retinals back in? Currently I’m planning on continuing to use my gentle CeraVe cleanser and milker toner for a week and take out my retinal and BHA completely. I am worried about getting my regular acne back, as BHA itself has really helped with my acne when I started it a year ago.
