Discussion Promotional Items for Small Business

Hello!

I am working on launching my Graphic Design business and was looking for different ways to promote it that aren't cheap plastic junk or will immediately go in the garbage.

I have access to a laser cutter and vinyl cutter while I am in school, so could potentially do something like that. As an art student, I don't mind making certain things.

I was considering getting a lot of Eco-friendly notebooks and making a stamp with my logo to brand them. I have also looked into some Eco-friendly pens. I looked into seed paper but am also nervous about invasive plants.

Some other things I considered was tea packaged with a business card.

The company name will have "Green" in it. The tagline I am thinking of using is "Helping your vision soar."

I've also considered things that are bird related, like birdfeed packets with a business card.

Any ideas / links / suggestions would be great.

Question / Support Is there a way I can modify a pump shampoo bottle to reach the bottom bit?

I think we're all familiar with the frustration of a pump bottle's straw not reaching the bottom, so there's always some left over.

I have a pump bottle of shampoo and I top it up when it runs low. However, I've bought shampoo of a different fragrance and wouldn't like to mix them.

Is there a way I can modify the straw to reach the bottom? Can I tape another straw to it, would that work?

I use the pump because I tend to shower in the dark so I don't wake the baby (ensuite bathroom, light switches are outside the bathroom, bathroom door is right beside the crib), and I know I need half a pump of shampoo. If I poured it out in my hand I wouldn't be able to see the amount of shampoo I'm dispensing.

So is this a lost cause or is there actually something I can do about this?

It’s so frustrating when I need an herb for a recipe and the only way I can find it is in plastic. What do you all (re)use these small clamshells for?

p.s. gardening season starts next month in my zone, so I’ll of course be growing my own

Question / Support Repeatable ways to get petroleum jelly and makeup out of wash cloths?

I'm considering making my self reusable washcloths specifically for the removal of lip stain and heavy cosplay makeup. The way I remove cosplay makeup currently is through the application of petroleum jelly, and then wiping that (thick, sticky, staining mess) off with a tissue that goes into the trash. (Using an oil is the gentlest heavy-makeup-removal process I found and I'm not looking to change the use of petroleum jelly for this rn, I'm using what I have on hand.) I want to get more eco-friendly in this process, but I'm concerned about staining my other laundry if I use a reusable towel/washcloth to take off my face. Got any suggestions for an easy pretreat method to prevent makeup/jelly spread?

Question / Support Attitude "Home Essentials" vs standard products

I'm looking to try a few Attitude products, and am not sure what the point of the Home Essentials line is, vs their standard line. I'm finding the website un-helpful, and since I don't place value in the EWG, I don't care about the "ratings" and that component of the marketing.

Purchasing priorities: Canadian, more eco friendly products (packaging, no PVAs etc), and tend to use unscented products. My mental jury us still out on what I think of fragrances (but I am not against them).

So what's up with the Home Essentials line? Is this a marketing thing?
