Don't you guys find it weird that Ableton still doesn't have a proper step record functionality?
I know about the fact that you can "hold a midi note and click the right arrow" technique, but clicking arrows is much slower compared to just inputing notes based on a set length like 1/16.
I would really appreciate if Ableton updated this in the next version, as most other DAWs have had this function for ages. I have to use some crappy Max for Live devices just to get this function for now ;)
Hey yall, hope everyone is doing well! I am soon going to be buying a new laptop and I have been considering the M1 Pro MacBook Pro. I do techno and tech house music, usually 50+ channels and I needed some guidance on which Mac would be best for me! Any suggestions.
I'm trying to clean my computer of all the files I don't need. My Ableton project folder organization is making this a bit difficult. Basically, I just have one project folder with all my Live sets in the root. Here's a screenshot:
This means that anything I record goes into the Recorded folder under Samples. I deleted a bunch of old projects, so I don't need those recordings, but there are just over 17,000 files in that folder, many of which I still need.
I had an idea: if I can make each project into its own folder (with only one Live set per project folder), each of them will be more consolidated. This way, if I decide to move or delete any projects, it will be as simple as moving or deleting a single folder, rather than digging through a bunch of clutter.
To execute this, I found the "Collect all and Save" feature. Although I'm not entirely sure how it works, and I'm not even sure if that's the feature I'm looking for.
Any tips on how I would execute this reorganization? Thanks!
Hi, I saw this mini keyboard on temu and thought it could come in handy with Live. Not sure if it supports the midi protocol though. Does anyone know if you can map the key macros or especially the knob to control the parameters in Live?
I recently got the MacBook 14 and I’m running live 12 on it, I’m trying to figure out how to hook my korg wavestate as a controller. Videos I’ve watched online suggested that I use a usb c hub so I got a anker, I haven’t gotten much results from that so I tried my old setup which uses my focusrite Scarlett solo (3rd gen). Still having issues and I’m open to any recommendations.
So when I was using the trial version of Ableton Suite, I began using a song wherein I used the synth sound Sentient Shadows. I really liked the sound and since have purchased Ableton Standard, which doesn't have the sound. Is there something similar I could get for free or some way I could just purchase that specific sound from Ableton? How would I find it?
I'm looking for a small durable screen that I can use to monitor Ableton whilst I am performing.
Something that I can glance at and make amendements if needed, but that allows me to keep my laptop in clamshell mode in a case out of the way.
I was looking for a normal Discord Theme for Live 12, but it was all weird and didn't look like the one for Live 11. That's why I thought I'd make one myself. What u think? Is good?
I have Live 12 Lite on my computer. My friend has said I can use his other 'unlock' from his Live 11 (?) Intro/Standard can't remember which. I know this is technically not allowed but should be fine. Does anyone know how this would work? e.g. would it let me log into his account, redeem and download his version and just disregard any info/login/redeem data about my account/previous install? or might it detect what I'm doing as not allowed and not let me
Ever since I bought 12, I have had an issue where Ableton will split newly recorded MIDI into two clips at the very start and it will often miss the first instance of a key being pressed.
You can see here that the new track with midi information is empty just before 1.1.2.
How the heck do I fix this? I’ve tried turning off quantisation, midi overdub and more. Any help would be appreciated.
The functionality doesn't seem to work on my laptop. I have tried saving it in a new empty folder or not and none of the two works. It only works if saved in Desktop. Windows laptop.
I have a hi-hat loop that I quantized to grid by warping the transients (they are yellow). Now when I try to add an 8th swing from the groove pool, nothing happens.
The hat loop is in 8th notes.
I even tried some ridiculous amount of groove like 66 but nothing happens. When I commit the groove, some of the yellow markers disappear but all the transients stay in the same place.
I've searched everywhere and it seems no one else has had this issue.. why doesn't it work?!
Groove not committed, but applied (no effect)Swing Logic 8ths 70 committed to clip (no effect)
Recently acquired a Microfreak and Minifuse 2.
New to hardware synths + MacOS and facing few issues within Ableton to get audio-input-recording to work.
Here is what I have done so far,
Connected Minifuse to macbook using the Arturia in-box cable. Upgraded firmware and rebooted machines.
Using a TRS mono cable, connected the Microfreak output to Minifuse 1. Turned it on so light is blue and can see gain response.
Within ableton – Driver Type selected is Core Audio. And minifuse (4 in, 4 out) for Input and Output
In Input config, selected 1 & 2 for Mono, 1/2 for Stereo. Similar options selected for Output.
Now when track is armed with Audio From Ext. in - 1, And Monitor In and Auto, I can see the gain but it only records almost a phased out noise.
Also, when mix dial on Minifuse is on 100% USB, i hear this same noise. Though when it is on 100% input, I can hear the clean synth output – though ofcourse, it does not record.
Lastly, in Minifuse Control Center when I enable the Loopback to Hardware Outputs, I can hear complete synth sound, though this doesn’t have any impact on Ableton input channels. Also I haven’t done changes to Loopback and only tried it as it made the mix dial output correct sound to play.
I think i am doing something very obviously wrong with routing, making the audio input and output cancel out, leading to a phased out audio-recording, but can’t really pin-point with little experience.
I am trying to download Ableton Live Lite 12 onto my new laptop, I have only used the License one time on another PC, however it keeps getting stuck near the end of download. I even let the PC sit there for about 5 hours and still stuck at the same place. Any help? I am on Windows 11
I’ve got a midi controller. I’ve got samples loaded on multiple pads in an instance of Drum Rack.
I’d like to assign one of the controller knobs to the start point of a sample on pad 1. No problem, I can map that. But if I repeat that process for pad 2 using the same knob, it ends up controlling the start points on both pads simultaneously, which I don’t want. I want to set my start point per pad and leave it there as I continue to the next. Is there a way around this? (Other than using unique knobs for each assignment or of course, just using the mouse!)
Hello, I want to connect an audio cable from the Korg Minilogue XD to my Push 3. The various video instructions are confusing me. My Korg XD output is R + L/mono Push 3 in 1 + 2. Do I need to connect two separate cables? If there are two separate cables, are they different? What should I look out for? Or a Y cable with the two connectors on the Korg and the other one on the Push? It would be great if someone could send me a link where I can see exactly what the cables look like. Thanks for your help.
