[Question] Advice on switching to Ableton (As a FL user)
So recently I have had this nagging feeling to switch to ableton. I had the same feeling a year or 2 ago when I was using bandlab and wanted to switch to FL.
The main factor for me in switching is how ableton is more suited towards experimenting, and being able to have an extensive sandbox with the plugins. I love how you have parameters for everything for the stock plugins in ableton that really arent there in FL (I could be wrong but still). I have been trying to expand my abilities in flstudio for experimenting but it just doesnt feel like the right tool for me.
For background information, I started in bandlab to initially make what I liked at the time which was music used in those either cool or cringey edits. That soon changed when I started to make beats (around june 2023) and identify myself as a beatmaker and then I switched to fl. Then another change like that happened around the may 2024 mark I started to learn more about travis scott and other artists where experimentation and not being limited to the sound of their genre and basically trying new things that nobody really had heard of or done. I started to experiment and embrace not sounding like others and trying things that might not be considered conventional to music.
Now that I have experimented vastly in fl with my music, for some reason I cant get out of that prouducer mindset and I always find it easier to make beats that are boring and repetitive (while still sounding good) than experiment and kinda just be free from conventions in music production. Where as with ableton even though I havent fully produced a song in it yet, I still have that feeling to switch to it. Even more so after seeing all these artists who are known for pushing unique sounds use it (even though I know that its not so much because of ableton)
I am open to all forms of advice, if youve already made the switch from fl to ableton that can be even more helpful to me but as always anybody can contribute if they feel like they have a piece of advice to give.
